Obi-Wan Kenobi became a general in the Army of the Republic as the Clone Wars continued, having many adventures with Anakin Skywalker.

Hasbro did a reasonably good job on the latest wave of The Black Series [Phase III] 6” figures focused on Attack Of The Clones. While Anakin Skywalker (Padawan) has a few likeness issues depending upon the angle you’re looking at it, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight) shines a little more brightly on the likeness front. We’ve claimed this for years, but there are only a few examples where Hasbro has difficulty matching Obi-Wan Kenobi’s likeness. And the ones that do fall short always tend to look good. The same is true for The Black Series [Phase III] 6” Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight). The only version of Obi-Wan Kenobi with “long” hair, many collectors feel that this character looks the best and most comfortable in Attack Of The Clones versus any other Star Wars film. Hasbro did an excellent job on the 6” version of Obi-Wan Kenobi. We only wish this portrait was available for the Walgreen exclusive Clone Commander Obi-Wan Kenobi because Hasbro erroneously gave that figure the head sculpt based on Revenge Of The Sith. If you recall in the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars micro-series, Obi-Wan Kenobi had the “Attack Of The Clones” hairstyle. We digress.

Also, like Anakin Skywalker (Padawan) are several areas where Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight) falls short or misses the mark. Hasbro didn’t include a soft-goods underskirt for the figure. Admittedly, its absence allows for a more significant range of motion in the hips and legs, but aesthetically it feels like something is missing. Another misstep is the omission of a soft-goods outer robe. In Attack Of The Clones, Obi-Wan Kenobi utilizes the outer robe in many (most) of the scenes in Episode II. The action figure feels naked without it. If Hasbro is including soft-goods for other Jedi like Kit Fisto and Plo Koon, why don’t they include this pivotal outerwear for main Jedi like Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi? Also, we find it hugely disappointing that Hasbro didn’t include a commlink with this figure. It’s another essential accessory the character uses in the film. 2010’s TVC Obi-Wan Kenobi (VC31) figure comes with both a commlink and a soft-goods outer robe. Why couldn’t Hasbro replicate this for the “premium” 6” interpretation? Despite the setback of a lack of accessories, we still appreciate what Hasbro achieved with this action figure. It looks excellent, even if it’s missing some crucial things.

Hasbro appears to have mastered the color of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight)’s outfit with this release. The tunic is a light tan, and the pants are off-white. And there are two undershirts, one tan, and one white. That looks all in place here. And the cordovan boots are shiny and mottled as they appear in the film. The belt looks beautiful, as well. Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight) has a simple outfit generally speaking, but Hasbro did an excellent job with it. Collectors will enjoy what Hasbro accomplished here. We’re quite fond of this figure’s portrait. We believe the hair color is a bit too light, but nothing makes it stand out as incorrect or anything. The Photo Real application is well applied, and we believe that Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight0 may be one of the few examples where the action figure looks better in photos than in person. Strange, right? This figure also has an incredible articulation system. Hasbro added the standard articulation into Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight), so it has some good and bad points. You can have the figure hold the lightsaber with both hands, but it’s a little tricky, and it doesn’t happen with ease. Despite Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Knight)’s shortcomings, we think it’s a good-looking action figure, and one to consider for your collection.
