The First Order can only operate effectively with the absolute loyalty of its followers. Should any soldier be found guilty of treason, it is up to the special branch of Stormtroopers to dispense final justice.

First released in a TARGET exclusive six-pack of “shampoo bottles,” Hasbro has decided that the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner needed a single-release chance at retail. And they accomplished this task by giving it to Walmart as their retail exclusive for the Star Wars [Solo] line. In all honesty, the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner 12-Inch Figure is probably one of the last things that Walmart needs. Based on the sculpt from 2017’s SW [TLJ] First Order Stormtrooper figure, a little black paint and an all-new accessory transition the figure into a new First Order Stormtrooper Executioner. In case you didn’t know, the helmet design for the First Order Stormtrooper for The Last Jedi changed, and Hasbro incorporated the more accurate design on future First Order Stormtrooper action figures. Hasbro painted the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner beautifully. Some collectors are overly critical of the deco on this figure, likening it to a court jester. But we have found the color flashes to be interesting and think it’s one of the coolest-looking First Order Stormtroopers the Sequel Trilogy, and toy line, has seen.

The shape and style of the First Order Stormtrooper’s helmet have received a bit of an update. Less flattened this time around, the change in the contour of this prop has created a healthier look for the First Order army, and Hasbro has been proactive about adding this enhancement to the toys based on these characters. In 2015, Hasbro released the First Order Stormtrooper in The Force Awakens 12-Inch Figure line. Last seen in the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] lineup, Hasbro also added them to this year’s 12-Inch Figures lineup, but only as another retailer exclusive. Hasbro also designed a stunning laser ax for the figure, and they’ve done an amazing job on its tooling and screen-authenticity. There isn’t an electro effect on this accessory, but that’s fine as far as we’re concerned. It helps keep this figure unique to the other First Order Stormtrooper Executioners in the line, and we get to see the details of the blades very carefully now. With limited articulation, we’re amazed that it’s relatively easy to have the figure hold the laser ax with both hands. Also, the laser ax comes with four articulating “blades” at the end which allow for some additional posing options.

Between the remarkable paint job on the figure, and the cool accessory it comes with, collectors of this 12-Inch Figures line should count the First Order Stormtrooper Executioner is an excellent addition to the line. Instead of spending $49.99 for a multipack of five figures, collectors only need to expend $10 since it’s now available singly as a Walmart exclusive. But was there a market for the multi-figure set. And will that market show interest in this release of the same figure? The Last Jedi has come and gone, and many Star Wars collectors want to forget about that film altogether. Look, Hasbro’s 12-Inch Figures line isn’t for everyone. The limited articulation and the inconsistent and random character choices make it a tough line to develop interest and a consistent buying market. But they serve some purpose in the collecting community because they’ve been an active line since 2013. Affordable, cost-effective, big, and decently designed, the line doesn’t have too many things working against it. Most Walmart stores never received this exclusive at the brick and mortar level. It was available online briefly, and then they started showing up in huge quantities at discount chains.
