In its ultimate push toward galactic conquest, the First Order readies an army of elite soldiers that draw inspiration from a dark and ancient legacy.

If you didn’t like Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker, there’s probably nothing we can say or do to persuade you to give the Sith Jet Trooper a chance in your collection. If you recall, the first version of this character was 2019’s TBS [P3] First Order Jet Trooper (99) (Carbonized) figure. And that figure “blew” us away with how well its articulation was engineered, and how beautifully the figure was painted. The “regular” release entered the line a short while later as 2020’s TBS [P3] First Order Jet Trooper (99) figure. And while we still appreciated the figure’s articulation system, the paint job on the “Carbonized” version was significantly more impressive. Now we’re at a crossroads. The latest Sith Jet Trooper might be a step above the “Carbonized” version. Part of the third wave of “Triple Force Friday” The Black Series [Phase III] 6” figures, the Sith Jet Trooper is a character that will be initially ignored in favor of other more interesting characters. But one we hope collectors will give a chance. With the chaotic climax of The Rise Of Skywalker displaying a flurry of red-clad First Order troopers, the Sith Jet Trooper was one that took center stage in the concluding battle. And as an action figure, they’re incredible additions to the line.

The Sith Jet Trooper is easily seen in The Rise Of Skywalker. Their bright red armor stood out in the film, and there were so many of them in the final scenes of the film. Their armor is simple. There isn’t a great amount of detail on it. While we can’t complain about the cleanness of the armor, it does come off as a little too clean. And it’s gleaming. Even though this Sith Jet Trooper lacks detail, it still comes with some of the best parts of the “Carbonized” figure. In particular, collectors will love the articulation system on the figure. We’ve mentioned the fluidity of the articulation. The joints articulate smoothly with relative ease, yet hold their positions as you attempt to pose the figure in almost any way you desire. This newfound fluidity not only includes the movement of the ball-socket head and hips, but it is also part of the ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles. Display the figure in your collection, looking upward or downward. Or pose the figure flying in the air utilizing his jetpack. The options are limitless for this figure. Whatever you decide, you can rest assured that the Sith Jet Trooper is one of the greatest new troopers in the 6” line. Sadly, we don’t think they’ll get the attention they deserve from collectors.

As we briefly mentioned previously, we love the design of the Sith Jet Trooper, save for its helmet. It looks nearly the same as the head sculpts on the First Order Snowtrooper (12) figure or the First Order Flametrooper (16) figure. It makes sense from a certain point of view, but we were hoping something with a fresher take on another member of the First Order, because they updated the armor, so why not update the helmet a little bit more too? It’s a microscopic complaint compared to the rest of the figure, so it’s easy for us to let it go. But we would be honest without expressing this detail. The rest of the figure, however, is a brilliant and fresh design. The character wears special chest armor to accommodate its jetpack, and it’s one piece permanently adhered to the figure. We would have loved to have seen a removable option here, but that might have interfered with the character’s aesthetics by making it look too chunky. The first "toy" version of the Sith Jet Trooper (VC159) figure was first released in first “Triple Force Friday” wave of The Vintage Collection. It’s nice to see the 6” version now and make the comparisons. Other than wanting to see these characters with a few more weapon options, we love how well the Sith Jet Trooper turned out in all scales thus far. We hope they grow on collectors.
