On a mission gone wrong, Doctor Aphra finds herself at the hands of the formidable Sith Lord, Darth Vader. A rare survivor of such meetings, Aphra is recruited by Vader for her skills in reprogramming droids and her apparent lack of remorse for breaking the law to get what she wants.

She was a finalist that came out of nowhere for The Vintage Collection Fans’ Choice figure vote, and quickly became the winner. And due to her unforeseen popularity, Hasbro tooled her and her compatriots for the 6” collecting community. Doctor Aphra enters The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line, and if you collect this scale and are a fan of Disney Star Wars comics, you’re likely going to be impressed with what Hasbro produced here. Between the beautiful long and slender frame of Doctor Aphra, to the realistically stunning “photorealistic” technology on her face, the 6” version of Doctor Aphra is another gorgeous addition to the scale. It was fantastic that Hasbro managed to include Doctor Aphra along with BT-1 (Beetee) and 0-0-0 (Triple Zero) in the same case assortment. Unlike the Ghost crew that is seemingly arriving at our 6” collection piecemeal, Hasbro got out Doctor Aphra and company out in one fell swoop. Admittedly, it’s nice getting everyone necessary at the same time. It helps to appreciate things when they’re all together and "side by side" on your shelf in your collection. Let’s take a closer look at the figure that partially changed the landscape of Star Wars characters.

What's amazing about the Doctor Aphra 6" figure is that she's mostly recycled from 2017's TBS [P3] Jaina Solo (Legends) (56) figure. You'll have to do a doubletake to see this, however. Only the head sculpt, arms, and belt are new. She appears faithful to the character in the comics, but she feels a tad taller as an action figure. We believe that has a lot to do with the thinness of her frame. She’s wearing an off-white top and what look to be form-fitted blue jeans. And a belt/holster complements her pants, while a removable vest complements her top. We thought for years that Doctor Aphra was racially ambiguous, but the action figure presents her as a member of an Asian bloodline (in this world of course). Her pretty jet black hair and some of her facial figures reinforce the fact that she is of Asian descent. However, we’re not sure if Hasbro got the shape of her nose correctly when compared to the images in the comments. Perhaps they took some liberties of their own, or maybe they believe that this is what her nice looks like in a realistic style, but it’s something we noticed right away that might not be entirely accurate. Hasbro tooled a removable cap and goggles accessory that fits like a glove on top of her head. She looks amazing with or without the cap, but we prefer her wearing it. She also comes with the aforementioned removable vest and a blaster pistol for her empty holster.

Doctor Aphra possesses a sexy frame. And she wears her clothes well. Hasbro tooled a great amount of detail throughout the frame of the figure to make her as accurate as possible to the comics while translating what she’d look like in real life. We strongly feel that they excelled at this. The “photorealistic” technology is beyond impressive, but they also did a fantastic job painting details on her removable cap. And we’re especially impressed with the tattoos on her right arm. The think lines are carefully applied and don’t show any signs of smudging or smearing. From head to toe, Hasbro carefully and lovingly replicated this comic book character extremely well. Fans of the comic and the 6” line will have nothing to worry about wondering if this action figure will meet their expectations. (Spoiler alert: They will.) If Hasbro asked us for our two cents on this figure, we would have LOVED to see interchangeable hands not wearing the gloves, but it looks like Hasbro would need to do a little bit more than simply adding flesh-colored hands attachments. (The gloves go above the wrist; no new lower arms would be necessary for that to work.) Regardless, we think Doctor Aphra turned out perfectly. And fans of this character are going to be thrilled adding her to their collections.
