Smooth and sophisticated, Captain Lando Calrissian stands ready to retire from the life of a smuggler and instead become a full-time gambler (or "sportsman," as he calls it).
Well. What have we here? An unannounced Lando Calrissian figure that no one knew was coming but then appears in stock and on clearance online? Yup. That’s the state of the Hasbro Star Wars line. You never know what’s coming and the stuff that does arrive is stuff you don’t necessarily want. Although a few collectors came across images of the Lando Calrissian 12-Inch Figure on eBay and other online sources, many of us learned about the figure’s existence recently when it showed up on Walmart.com on clearance with the rest of its wave mates also on clearance. Lando Calrissian should have been part of the first wave of characters. Hasbro should have eliminated the Kylo Ren figure from the first wave and added Lando Calrissian instead. It’s a shame that this figure didn’t get the attention it deserves. For a shampoo bottle, it’s quite an excellent figure. It looks very much like Donald Glover, the onscreen actor who portrayed the character.
Lando Calrissian comes with seven points of articulation. The inclusion of two swivel wrists pushes the figure beyond the standard five points that the earliest figures in this line had. Lando Calrissian’s likeness is astounding. Hasbro should be quite proud of how well this figure’s likeness turned out. We have zero criticism for it. We find it difficult to process how effortlessly and accurately they captured the actor’s features. Hasbro did a fantastic job on Lando Calrissian’s hair, skin color, costume details and coloring, and accessories. He comes with a nicely woven soft-goods cape. It’s permanently attached to his collar, but it has a very nice drape and texture and falls to his waist perfectly like it did in the film. Hasbro cast his shirt in a bright yellow color, and his scarves hang down the front of it. Again, Lando Calrissian looks incredible. We’re still impressed with what Hasbro did with him. They did a magnificent job.
Lando Calrissian comes with a blaster. It is cast in a silvery/gold color. But the neat feature it has is that you can attach it to the side of this right thigh courtesy of a plug. It’s a bit of an obtuse feature for the figure, but we feel it works pretty well for this figure. Hasbro tooled both of his hands so that they can accompany the blaster as needed. And he looks great pointed the gun or simply wearing it on his side. It’s hard to believe how much Hasbro bothered giving this action figure. They could have taken shortcuts here, but they didn’t. Lastly, from head to toe, Lando Calrissian is painted beautifully. With so many figures looking rough thanks to sloppy paint jobs, collectors of this scale should have no fears about this release. Hasbro ensured that this figure turned out excellently. The 12-Inch Figures line is redundant in many ways, but Hasbro impresses us here and there with fantastic releases like Lando Calrissian.
