Imperial Commander

General Analysis

The Imperial Commander might be as bland as you can get for a Kenner action figure. But it’s a right kind of bland. Most of us utilized him as a general Imperial Officer of the Galactic Empire in MANY of our play scenes from the Battle of Hoth to the Battle of Endor. But who does the figure represent from the Star Wars saga? Well, it’s almost impossible to make this determination from the action figure alone, and if you rely on the reference image provided on the figure’s packaging, you’ll quickly realize it is General Veers less his AT-AT Commander uniform. But no matter who you consider the Imperial Commander to represent, it’s an excellent addition to THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK lineup from Kenner. I do remember seeing this figure hanging on the pegs almost every time I visited a retail store that sold the Kenner Star Wars line. Interestingly, I never managed to accrue more than one in my collection. Multiple variations of this figure exist. You can find figures with different head sizes and features, and the figure’s brown hair color and flesh color also varies. If you’re a vintage Kenner purist, you need multiples of this figure for display purposes. It’s a shame that Hasbro didn’t produce running changes of this figure with a different head sculpt, but that was also a much simpler time.

Hasbro's Most Definitive Modern Counterpart: Imperial Officer from 2008's THE LEGACY COLLECTION SHIELD GENERATOR ASSAULT Battle Packs set. For the character featured on the packaging, 2006's THE SAGA COLLECTION General Veers (SAGA 007) is the most definitive.
