R2-D2 accompanies Anakin on a mission to the B'omarr monk monastery to rescue Jabba's young son. When Skywalker and his Padawan Ahsoka are hemmed in by battle droids and hunted by the vengeful Asajj Ventress, Artoo locates a backdoor landing platform that may help them escape from their enemies.

Let’s keep re-releasing the same half-dozen figures until we can’t take it anymore. We doubt that’s the approach Hasbro has when it comes to The Clone Wars [Blue] retailer exclusive program, but man-oh-man are the releases becoming repetitive. What’s more, the Two-Packs line doesn’t offer a reduction in price-per-figure like the Walmart exclusive Commemorative DVD Collection sets do. Because of this, it’s hard to consider the General Grievous & Battle Droid Two-Packs set, a Toys R Us exclusive, worthy of consideration for your collection. Hasbro decided once again that straight repacks are the best option for the Two-Packs assortment. That in and of itself isn’t a terrible thing, but when Hasbro releases these figures previously in other formats, the figures begin to lose their luster a bit. If you own the basic figure released of General Grievous and the Battle Droid, there is no reason to purchase this Toys R Us exclusive Two-Packs set. If you’re into the exclusive packaging of them, then we suppose you have a reason. Just keep in mind that you’re not getting a deal here or anything new. If you want to army build the Battle Droid, then you have another chance right here too. Let’s take a bit of a closer look at the figures that make up the General Grievous & Battle Droid Two-Packs set from Toys R Us. In all honesty, it’s mediocre at best.

Hasbro did a fantastic job on The Clone Wars version of General Grievous, but it isn't definitive yet. We should be upfront about the limited articulation of this figure. He only has a paltry amount of articulation, and he is in desperate need of ankle joints to maximize his standing ability. He doesn't have the positioning ability or play value you may expect, but we would like to remind you that this doesn't make him an inferior action figure. He has to be considered for his sculpt first and everything else second because this is where a figure like this officially impresses. Hasbro sculpted General Grievous very delicately, and aside from suffering a bit from a pea-sized head, he is nearly free from flaws. He is skinny in spots (a true testament to his design), and thankfully Hasbro has used a little bit more of a stiffer plastic that aids him in holding his shape rather well. General Grievous comes with an ample amount of accessories, all of which are carried over from the basic figure release. And it’s great to see them all here once again. We would recommend to Hasbro to retool this figure a little bit to add a few more bells and whistles. A soft-goods cape would be marvelous for example. That would add a lot to General Grievous. We still need a better version of him with more articulation, however.

The Battle Droid is a boring addition here, but also a necessary one. Equipped with eight points of articulation, the Battle Droid needs knee joints. It has a nice swivel waist joint which does more for it than you may realize. Thankfully, his legs have been pre-posed in a very straightforward manner, and this allows the collector to pose the droid without any issue. The Battle Droid has a removable backpack, and the fine design includes lands and grooves and a great texture. For the most part, the Battle Droid has turned out pleasantly well. Its biggest issue is that it is misshapen when taken out of the package, which was an issue for the basic figure as well. That in addition to limited articulation in the legs makes a frustrating figure. But believe it or not, it regains reasonable form back after time outside of the plastic bubble. Despite its faults, there is no denying that the Battle Droid is a pretty sweet design. It’s also true, however, that problems with action figures supersede the good points often. Where the figure does shine is in his paint job. Weathered beautifully and strewn with lots of battle-damage markings, the Battle Droid will probably impress you. The value of the General Grievous & Battle Droid Two-Packs set is dubious. If this Two-Packs set serves a purpose that we’re not aware of, then more power to Hasbro. For us, it’s a waste.
