Masterfully crafted based on the appearance of Anakin Skywalker in the movie, the sixth scale collectible figure features a newly developed head sculpt with impressive likeness, a meticulously tailored Jedi outfit, an interchangeable right mechno-arm, an LED light-up lightsaber, an additional Count Dooku’s lightsaber, and a specially designed figure base.

It’s sometimes difficult for us to process how Hot Toys’ human characters often look better than those that wear helmets and armor. Their miraculously accurate human portraits capture the spirit, attitude, determination, and personalities of the characters they make in this line. And the new one-sixth scale figures keep coming at a brisk rate that collectors often have difficulty attempting to stay current with the line. These high-end collectibles aren’t cheap. But most collectors conceded that everyone gets what he or she pays for with this line. We have to agree as well. Anakin Skywalker, based on his appearance from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, is another fine addition to the Movie Masterpiece Series line and is a dead ringer for actor Hayden Christensen. Hot Toys has mastered how to approach human likenesses, and it’s a rarity when they don’t succeed. We believe that Anakin Skywalker may be one of the finest human likenesses we have ever seen in this scale. It’s that good. With a decent amount of accessories that aren’t overbearing, Anakin Skywalker has quickly become another favorite figure in Hot Toys’ line. Let’s look a little more closely at what makes Anakin Skywalker stand out in this line.

Anakin Skywalker’ portrait is ambrosial. In fact, it’s a bit eerie how much the head sculpt looks like the onscreen character. Every last detail of Anakin’s personality is solidified in this captivating one-sixth scale figure. All of the focus is going to be centered on a figure’s head sculpt and likeness, but Anakin Skywalker succeeds on so many other levels as well. For example, this figure has the best costume of any past Episode III Anakin Skywalker figure made before it. Usually, the soft-goods clothing looks bulky and ill-fitted, but that isn’t the case here at all. Hot Toys pioneered a way to ensure that clothing looks fitted on their figures. This technology has been implemented with Anakin Skywalker as well. Not only do they succeed with the fit, but they also win with working in multiple textures. Anakin Skywalker has a “wool crepe” undershirt, “leather” tabards and boots, and a “leather” belt. All of these different mixed media elements work seamlessly together to accentuate an already stellar figure. The function like ornaments on the figure without taking attention away from the figure, but function only to enhance it. We’d call that a success. The figure shines from head to toe, and again, you’ll be hard-pressed to find better.

Anakin Skywalker comes with an adequate amount of relevant accessories. The accessory we’re particularly fond of is the interchangeable cybernetic right arm. The detail in this accessory is astounding. Not only is its design beautiful, but it also comes with a ton of articulation and functions like a real human hand. All of the joints in a human hand have been implemented in this accessory. It’s a beautiful addition here. Also included are both Count Dooku’s lightsaber and Anakin’s lightsaber. You can recreate the scene where he scissors-off Count Dooku’s head (when that gorgeous Count Dooku figure gets released of course). The blades on both lightsabers are removable, so you have display options with them, which is wonderful as well. Also included is another interchangeable arm holding Anakin’s lightsaber blade (but this time with electronics). You’ll also get a nice array of interchangeable hand attachments and a display base with an alternate terrain for a different display option. Anakin Skywalker has exceeded our expectations. Hot Toys’ Star Wars line keeps getting better and better. We don’t think other one-sixth scale licensees can keep up with this competition. You should consider this figure for your collection.
