Celebrate the legacy of Star Wars, the action-and-adventure-packed space saga from a galaxy far, far away, with this collection of premium, highly-detailed 3.75-inch scale figures and vehicles. (Each sold separately. Subject to availability.)

After the lackluster The Force Awakens, admittedly many Star Wars fans went into defense mode when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was up next. Thankfully, the movie proved us wrong, and it is by far the best Disney Star Wars film the company has produced to date. In 2016, we didn’t know much about Sergeant Jyn Erso. Was she the next Mary Sue in the Disney Star Wars franchise. Or would she be a real and fallible character that humans could relate to you and adore? Thankfully the latter proved true, and although we learned little about her in the film, the storyline felt ripped from the pages of the Original Trilogy and fans everywhere had the opportunity to enjoy adding a new story to their Star Wars timeline. Jyn Erso rebelled and led a team that secured the plans for the Empire’s feared Death Star. Although her particular character died before the handoff of those stolen plans transpired, she will go down in history as one of the most important characters in the saga. Her sacrifice was emotional, unexpected and realistic and for that, she holds a dear place in our hearts. It’s a shame she wasn’t utilized in the Sequel Trilogy instead somehow. Then again, we’re discovering that the standalone films are seemingly geared for Original Trilogy hardcore enthusiasts, so maybe we’ll happily leave her where she is.

Hasbro made this character a priority throughout their many scales. Sadly, she was released before “photorealistic” technology went into effect, and the TBS [P3] Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha) (22) figure. That figure looks more like a Bratz or Barbie doll than an awesome Star Wars figure (because of the facial paint operations). The 5POA versions didn’t ring any more authentically than the 6” version did either, so it was up to the Walmart exclusive figure to bring things home. While better in many ways, that version of the figure wasn’t perfect. But she looked better than the other scales. Also, the outfit is different than the standard/most popular iteration (The one with the headscarf). So, she’s unique for a couple of reasons. Aside from some issues with the deco on the face, the Walmart exclusive Sergeant Jyn Erso figure is our favorite by far. Now she has been made part of the first wave of The Vintage Collection figure. We’re not sure if Hasbro has taken many strides to make the action figure look better, but the packaging does a whole lot to help the figure in that area. Packaged with the same accessories, Jyn Erso (Hasbro dropped the “sergeant” this time) joins the ranks of a mostly repacked wave of figures that deserve TVC status, despite perhaps not necessary to be part of the very first wave of the relaunch.

Jyn Erso has an excellent sculpt. But more importantly, Hasbro has given the figure a simple, but mostly accurate, paint job. It’s not perfect as we’ve already mentioned, but the likeness of this figure easily beats the 6” version by a landslide. Hasbro worked in an impressive 27 points of articulation across 16 areas. The addition of swivel hips is a remarkable enhancement for 3.75” action figures. However, Hasbro didn’t provide her with ball-jointed wrists which would have aided the figure to hold blaster rifles authentically. Thankfully this action figure doesn’t struggle too much with that issue. Our sample holds the rifle believably. The paint operations on the rest of the figure as well as the accessories are beautifully applied. And the joints match the color plastic of the rest of the figure. There are no oddities here or anything which is nice. Jyn Erso comes with a removable vest. And she also comes with a blaster rifle that breaks down into three separate parts. This weapon breakdown feature is new for the 3.75” line, but we first saw this approach in 2016’s TBS [P3] Imperial Death Trooper/Captain Cassian Andor/Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha) TARGET exclusive three-pack (the blaster rifle came with Captain Cassian Andor). It is an amazing weapon in 6” scale, and it’s a pure joy in 3.75” scale. It’s nice to have her in The Vintage Collection. We’ll admit it.
