S.H. Figuarts is a new standard figure series that incorporates the Bandai action figure "Art" under the theme "Pursuing Character Expression through Humanoid Action."

For Star Wars collectors, the S.H. Figuarts line is completely refreshing. The company has knocked out some pretty impressive collectibles in a very short time. It nice to see a company like S.H. Figuarts understand a Star Wars collector’s needs, especially in an era of time where a main line like Hasbro just isn’t meeting collector demand in more ways than one. It seems that the high-end licensees are making some pretty impressive stuff. Whether you’re into 6” scale or not, one thing is true. The Bandai S.H. Figuarts line will pique your interest like no other line. The amount of detail and articulation that has been added to these figures are nothing short of astounding, and even despite the few issues they have, they are quickly becoming the standard for so many collectors. This is especially true for the droids they make in this line. We all were blown away with 2015’s Battle Droid figure in the line. Now S.H. Figuarts has repainted it to make it specific to Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones (as seen during the Battle of Geonosis). Now, Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) is part of the respected S.H. Figuarts line, and if you have the previous version, you know you’re getting what can easily be hailed as one of the nicest Star Wars action figures money can buy. Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) is another gem in this fantastic lineup.

There is a huge difference between the high-end collectible action figures and toys. It’s not fair to even make comparisons between the two. But once you compare these 6” scaled figures next to each other, we think it’s better to save the 20+ dollars on the Hasbro figure and apply it to the S.H. Figuarts version instead. If you’re into both types of figures, the good news is that Hasbro and S.H. Figuarts aren’t making all of the same figures. The two lines combined offer diversity. The level of detail, the complex construction and the interactive accessories these figures come with will blow your mind. There isn’t anything they cannot do. And dare we say this, but the MSRP that they demand is well worth it. The S.H. Figuarts Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) isn’t a figure that was at the top of our list, but we’re thrilled to have picked it up nonetheless. In fact, we’re so impressed with the figure that we’re a bit ticked we weren’t gaga over it when it was announced. This figure has one-sixth scale figure quality. It has an amazing amount of functional articulation which gives Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) a range of movement that we haven’t seen on any action figure from Hasbro. It also comes with adequate accessories to complete the look and a bonus C-3PO interchangeable portrait to recreate that infamous scene from Episode II.

There are triple areas of articulation worked into the head and neck of Battle Droid (Geonosis Color). Its neck doesn’t go down into the body, but it is a complex system of joints and other moving parts that feels impossible in a scale this small. For us, Battle Droid (Geonosis Color)’s articulation is simply perfect. That is evident. But on top of impressive articulation, the figure has a distinctly beautiful paint job. It looks clean for the most part, but if you carefully inspect the body, you will see very subtle staining and battle-damage. It’s gorgeous. Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) comes with just a couple accessories, but two of them impress us. There are two parts which we will refer to as plugs. One has the antennae collapsed, while the other plug has the antennae extended. It’s easily removable, and we’re so happy this area of the figure is interchangeable instead of articulated. Articulated antennae at this scale might have been disastrous. Another feature we love is the backpack. Sadly, it isn’t removable, but it does have a clip that folds out that allows the droid blaster to attach to it when not in use. Oh, and that droid blaster? Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) can hold it with both hands as seen in Attack Of The Clones thanks to the exquisite articulation worked into the delicate hands and wrists. The best part, however, is that the Battle Droid can fold up just like it did in the film. Battle Droid (Geonosis Color) is a pure joy.
