Aided by his droid companion R4-P17, Obi-Wan flies an Eta-2 Jedi starfighter on a mission to rescue Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. His acute Jedi instincts help him battle overwhelming odds.

When it came to making the definitive Revenge Of The Sith version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hasbro certainly saved the best for last. After all of the action-feature ridden figures released throughout the 2005 Revenge Of The Sith basic figure line, Hasbro released the Obi-Wan Kenobi (III 55) figure. It came with super-articulation and a nice amount of accessories which made him the definitive version of this character in this era of collecting. As you might imagine, it quickly became one of the most favorite figures for collectors. Long-awaited and much needed, collectors had something for their collection they could be proud of because Hasbro treated this iteration of him with incredible respect. Generously equipped with 23 points of articulation, Obi-Wan Kenobi has all of the movement finicky collectors demand. A ball-socket head, ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, torso, knees, and ankles are accompanied by swivel wrists and hips. The figure could accomplish any position you wanted. And he looked great doing so. The assortment of movement that Obi-Wan Kenobi provided should prove to you just how astute a sculptor can be when tasked with developing the perfect action figure for collectors. This great skill is proof of innate talent. Obi-Wan Kenobi will remain a definitive figure in the line for years to come, and, it makes total sense why he was carried forward into The Episode III Greatest Battles Collection.

Obi-Wan Kenobi can fit inside of a cockpit. He can hold a lightsaber hilt or a fully lit lightsaber. And he can be posed in very aggressive ways thanks to his slightly widened stance and super-articulation. Then his outer robe and headset complete his “piloting” look although he won’t fit in any cockpit while wearing the robe (because the robe is molded in plastic). The robe is nowhere near the right ballpark as far as its color is concerned. But it hugs his body rather closely. Obviously, the figure can only stand up while wearing it. You only get one use out of this molded accessory. Sadly, in Episode III, Obi-Wan Kenobi always flew around space wearing his outer Jedi robes, so only a soft-goods robe will make this a possibility. You’ll also find that you’ll have a lot more fun with this figure if you just stow away that plastic robe in a storage box.... very far away from the figure. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s headset looks a little too simply made. It has no paint details and much too thick in spots. We don’t criticize Hasbro for its slightly odd shape because it’s not that big of a deal. But we have to admit that it's not the ideal accessory for this figure. And because it’s small in the film, how tiny can we expect Hasbro to scale it down for the action figure? We’d rather have this accessory as is than not at all. So we can’t criticize Hasbro for giving us more, not less.

Besides the items we have already mentioned, there are still additional things that make this figure so enjoyable. We think the likeness of his portrait is just incredible. Obi-Wan Kenobi figures, for the most part, tend to look good, but this is a fine example of just how exacting sculptors can be when making these small masterpieces for us. Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of these said masterpieces, and the figure is ahead of its time and will not age quickly throughout the years. Hasbro knows what collectors want, and they are making that a reality with all of the great action figures they’ve released. They just need to keep getting them out at retail. Hasbro concocted the Heroes & Villains in addition to the Greatest Battles lines to help accommodate this. Lines like this give Star Wars fans a great variety of figures from across all species, affiliations, shapes, and sizes. But sometimes all hardcore Star Wars collectors want are definitive human characters like Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, especially when the figure is made this well. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a perfect repack for The Saga Collection. And this long-awaited update to the Obi-Wan Kenobi figures from the beginning of the line fits the need for great figures like this beautifully. Times are changing for the better, and it appears that it will only get better for action figure enthusiasts like you and us. Be sure to enjoy this Obi-Wan Kenobi figure.
