Daughter of Leia Organa and Han Solo, Jaina Solo is a Jedi student of Luke Skywalker. Like her father, she is also a crack pilot and skilled mechanic. Like her mother, she is a born leader.

We think that Jaina Solo (Legends) has been executed so well that it may have enough power to change the minds of those who don’t collect the 6” line currently. She is a shining example of what Hasbro is capable of in this scale and, dare we say; she is one of the nicest The Black Series 6” figures we have seen to date. We (as well as many others) have never subscribed to Disney rejecting the formerly established Expanded Universe, and for many fans, she IS the daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa, and that will never change. (It must have 'killed' Disney to approve her bio on the packaging.) There is some controversy about how Jaina Solo (Legends) won the Fans’ Choice poll. She acquired an insane amount of last-minute votes at the 11th hour of the Fans’ Choice Poll closing window. A zealous and large Expanded Universe group organized together and got everyone to vote for her. Then there was an actress who modeled for this character who utilized social media to get people who never bought a single Star Wars figure in their lives to vote for Jaina Solo (Legends) also. The long story short is that Jaina Solo (Legends) is the second The Black Series [Phase III] Fans’ Choice winner and she has been warmly accepted by most fans of the 6” scaled line. In all honesty, we don’t know who would not be excited about this brilliant figure. She is almost like an early Christmas present. And she brings a level of quality and tenacity that we don't often see in many other 6” figures. Fans of this scale are going to be thrilled when they crack open her packaging and realize the contents contained within it. Jaina Solo (Legends) is a pure testament to action figure excellence, and it makes us want more from the now-defunct Expanded Universe Legends timeline. There are so many wonderful characters within the original Expanded Universe.

Jaina Solo (Legends) is an experimental figure on a few levels. Firstly, she is the first “old EU” Solo family member to be produced in 6” scale. There is great risk in Hasbro tooling a figure that only a subculture of people appreciates. (By the presales alone it looks like her selling is no longer a concern.) She is also an experimental figure because Hasbro has worked in a new and smart extra articulation point in her midsection: a hinge-jointed waist. Yes, this is nothing new to collectors who buy other brands of action figures, but for The Black Series [Phase III] 6” line this is something new and exciting. In an amazing feat, Jaina Solo (Legends) has been graced with 29 wonderful points of premium articulation. For the most part, she shares a similar articulation system as the best of the other 6” figures in the Star Wars line, but the addition of that hinge-jointed torso is just a gift from above. She comes with ball-jointed elbows, but the range of motion they offer is extremely generous, and we are quite taken with how well she can move, and hold her weapons that we’re happy they didn’t include double hinge-jointed elbows instead. They can look terribly from an aesthetic perspective, so it’s great that her ball-jointed elbows provide an adequate amount of movement. The rest of her articulation is wonderful, although we did find her ball-jointed/”rocker” ankles a tiny bit problematic. One foot was semi-frozen, and the other was a tad too loose. We were able to acclimate to these issues however. Posing the figure was still successful regardless of its setbacks. Overall, there isn’t much to complain about with Jaina Solo (Legends). The paint job is great, the sculpt is divine, and her inclusion into the line makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside.

We feel strongly that you really get two figures for the price of one here. She comes packaged as an X-wing pilot, but the chest box and flight straps are one combination piece and easily removable. When you remove them you’re left with a close-fitting jumpsuit that seems more appropriate for lightsaber dueling…. or Jedi training…. or whatever else floats your boat. In addition to her removable chest box/bib/flight straps combination piece, Jaina Solo (Legends) also comes with a beautifully painted X-wing pilot helmet. It has one of the greatest paint jobs we have ever seen on a removable helmet. Hasbro should be proud of how this final production accessory turned out. We appreciate how much effort Hasbro put into Jaina's helmet accessory. With a clear yellow visor, it has been precisely tooled to fit over her head and sit on the bridge of her nose as it should. She also comes with her signature purple-bladed lightsaber (which breaks down into a hilt and a blade) as well as a blaster pistol. She can interact beautifully with all of her accessories and collectors are going to grow very fond of this action figure very quickly. Where Jaina Solo (Legends) isn’t perfect is her facial paint operations. Like so many other 6” figures, the paint job here is a little sloppy and imperfect. It almost makes us wish that Hasbro held off producing her (and other 6” figures) until the “photo realistic” technology has been put into place. She really seemed to deserve that premium treatment. Hopefully there will be a running change to this update sometime in the future. Equal parts Han Solo and Leia Organa, Jaina Solo (Legends) is everything we have expected her to be. Hasbro has delivered. And she feels like she is the Rey that never was.
