Anakin Skywalker flies his customized Jedi starfighter to assist Obi-Wan Kenobi in tracking down General Grievous. But before Anakin can rendezvous with his former Master, he encounters a squadron of vulture droids who attack the Jedi. Anakin returns cannon fire and the battle is on!

Making its debut in the Season 1 episode entitled “Downfall of a Droid,” Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter has been a consistent fixture in The Clone Wars television show ever since. It’s also a staple in Hasbro’s The Clone Wars line as it was just carried forward into the “Shadow Of The Dark Side” 2010-2011 product line look for additional accessibility. Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter vehicle is truly a fine toy specimen. It comes with loads of play features, has a wonderful scale and interacts beautifully with the basic figures that have been made for the popular The Clone Wars line. The mold dates back to 2008’s TCW [B] Obi-Wan’s Delta Starfighter vehicle, but Hasbro has repainted it to make it Jedi specific; this time for Anakin Skywalker. The paint operations are bright and divine. Hasbro ensured that the colors were applied clearly and accurately to make as accurate as possible the vehicle we see in the television show. The tooling of Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter is quite impressive to say the least. With a little ingenuity, Hasbro figured out a way to take this toy version of Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor Jedi Starfighter toy sculpt and design two separate vehicles from it (for play value purposes). But they also had to figure out a way to blend these two separate vehicles together so that it looks completely screen accurate when fully assembled. What’s more, the vehicle has both a functional cockpit as well as a droid socket, so there is plenty of features here.

Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter is such a fantastic vehicle that we hope that Hasbro has plans to release every possible version of the Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor Jedi starfighter for each Jedi that used this type of vehicle in the show. A sleek and streamlined vehicle, this newer Jedi Starfighter sculpt has more functionality than many of the other larger vehicles in The Clone Wars line (and probably many more of the ones in any realistically styled Star Wars toy line). So, this shouldn’t be a vehicle you’d overlook. You should definitely consider at least one for your collection. You’ll find that it offers a lot more than you probably expect. For us, it’s one of the best Jedi starfighter sculpts the 3.75” line has ever seen. And it works for both animated and realistically styled action figures. Is there anything more a collector could possibly want? Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter is beautifully painted and decorated in yellow and gray. The yellow and gray used closely matches the appearance of his Jedi starfighter in Episode III too, so we appreciate the intentional linking executed here to bridge the spaces between The Clone Wars and the Prequel Trilogy. The new 2010 packaging is pretty awesome too. Like The Clone Wars [Red] line, vehicles come with packaging that converts into a diorama backdrop. Reissues of some vehicles in later waves came without them however.

As mentioned briefly above, Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter breaks apart into two separate “starfighters” and this is just a pleasure from a play perspective. More importantly, this ultimately feels like we’re getting a lot more bang for our buck. And let’s be honest, it does. We don’t have too many astromech droids in The Clone Wars line yet, but the fully functional droid socket will welcome both R2-D2 (CW27) and R3-S6 (Goldie) (No. 23) (also from the "Downfall Of A Droid" episode) figures. You also get three projectiles, one unique and two identical, that fire from the vehicle’s hull when an action feature button is pressed to release them. They look really nice on Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter and do not affect or compromise the integrity of the vehicle. Both kids and collectors will find joy in these extra play features. With the previous releases of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Delta Starfighter and Ahsoka Tano’s Jedi Starfighter, the trio of main characters each has his/her specific Jedi Starfighter vehicle now. Hasbro really knows how to bang out these awesome midsize vehicles. And you should treat yourself to at least one of them for your collection because you’ll quickly find out you want more of them. This is the second release of this vehicle, now part of The Clone Wars [Shadow Of The Dark Side] lineup. The paint operations are slightly different here and there, but you should really just consider this a straight repack.
