An accomplished Alliance Intelligence officer with combat field experience, Captain Cassian Andor commands respect from his Rebel troops with his ability to keep a cool head under fire and complete his missions with minimal resources.

Yikes! He hurts so good! Captain Cassian Andor is one of two new figures in the seventh wave of Walmart exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75” super-articulated action figures. This line has been controversial at best. Between the terrible disregard Walmart has for this line to the impossibility that exists finding these easily at retail, Star Wars fans have been pointing blame at Hasbro accusing them of handling the line this way intentionally to kill it off once and for all. Those accusations are far-fetched at best, but it’s certainly been an uphill battle to both find these figures at retail as well as find quality versions of them. Paint operations have been the nagging issue with the Walmart exclusive 3.75” line. The figures themselves have excellent sculpts (including the portraits), but the final paint operations render these fantastic sculpts terrible because it looks like an incompetent artist has painted them instead. This is the plight of Captain Cassian Andor, a figure that should be nearly flawless thanks to its execution, but whose deco leaves a whole lot to be desired.

What’s so frustrating is that the paint job on the figure from the neck down is gorgeous. So what is the deal with Hasbro that they’re unable to give head sculpts the same treatment? We don’t know and probably never will. Apparently Hasbro places these head sculpts in little buckets when the paint is being applied. Because they’re not “locked” into place they sometimes move or roll around which gives terrible results for the final products. We imagine that the bodies don’t roll around that much and that is the reason why the deco on these figures bodies is so much better looking. Captain Cassian Andor has an excellent face sculpt. We can tell just from its proportions and shape. But the deco, while not really terrible, is far from what it should be. The eyes aren’t applied where they should be and the hairline and beard are sloppily applied. It literally looks like Captain Cassian Andor was decorated with a sharpie pen instead of somewhere on the assembly line belt. It’s upsetting. It’s devastating. And it’s aggravating. Hasbro MUST get this resolved now.

Too many figures that will never be revisited look horrid. They seem to be slow at updating these problems and issues. We hope something will light a fire under them. There are too many all-new figures that look pretty bad. Captain Cassian Andor may not be one of them because he looks alright, but he certainly could look a whole lot better! Captain Cassian Andor comes with a removable jacket shell and a three part blaster rifle. If you recall the 2016 TBS6 [P3] Imperial Death Trooper/Captain Cassian Andor/Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha) TARGET exclusive three-pack, then you know what you’re going to get with the 3.75” version. Captain Cassian Andor has been approached the same exact way in 3.75” scale as he was in 6” scale. The blaster rifle breaks down into three separate pieces, and the middle section doubles as a blaster pistol. This weapon convention is very cool and new to the Star Wars universe. It sort of makes up for where the figure lacks in deco. Captain Cassian Andor is a nice action figure to have, we just wished his head looked better. But that’s all on Hasbro.
