During the epic battle on Geonosis, Anakin Skywalker duels with the evil Count Dooku who is a Sith Lord guiding the Separatist forces. Anakin and his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, chase Dooku to a secret hangar where they attempt to intercept him before he can escape. Anakin demonstrates his tremendous power by wielding both his and Obi-Wan's lightsabers to battle the skilled Dooku, who fights in the classic "old style" of ages past.

The Star Wars “Saga” line certainly has anything but a shortage of Anakin Skywalker action figures in it, so why should we be surprised when Hasbro decides to repack one of their many Anakin Skywalker figures once again for their newly developed "greatest hits" line? In an effort to help pad the line, Hasbro developed an unnumbered series of figures called the Hall Of Fame collection which includes a dozen of the Star Wars saga's most popular characters. At least with each attempt Anakin Skywalker has been very scene specific and whether it is the outfit or the accessories that makes him unique, the diversity is appreciated. Based on his appearance toward the conclusion of Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, this popular Anakin Skywalker (Geonosis Hangar Duel) figure is released once again to keep the character at retail perpetually. Based on the conclusion in Attack Of The Clones, Anakin Skywalker sustains a major physical injury and that’s the loss of his right arm thanks to Count Dooku. Hasbro worked this detail into the sculpt so kids and collectors could recreate these scenes and provide us all with an action figure with a fair likeness and well as screen accurate accessories.

While this won’t be a roaring success in the eyes of hardcore collectors, Anakin Skywalker (Hangar Duel) should interest kids looking to recreate his battle with Count Dooku and have Yoda come to the rescue in his time of need. Anakin Skywalker (Hangar Duel) is a bit more articulated than previous Anakin Skywalker versions, but a lot of that has to do with the included action features. The removable right arm comes with the plug attachment this time. If you recall, the original 2002 version came with a magnetized arm attachment. Hasbro is now moving away from magnets. You can still utilize the “rollers” on his back for the left wrist twisting. (Um, wouldn’t it have been a whole lot easier to include to include a simple swivel wrist instead?) He comes with both a green lightsaber (with a metal hilt) and blue lightsaber (with a plastic hilt). A magnet in the right hand allows Anakin Skywalker (Hangar Duel) to hold it without issue. That being said, the lightsabers have their own sets of issues (like lightsaber blade attachment breakages for example). Still, they really look fantastic overall. And they seem to complement the Anakin Skywalker (Hangar Duel) action figure quite well.

The sculpt of Anakin Skywalker (Geonosis Hangar Duel) is about average for us. We're still not sure if he warranted a re-release. We still feel that Hasbro has made his hair much too light, but then others argue that his hair shouldn’t be dark either. We’re torn in between the two. But no matter what, we still feel the action figure interpretations of Anakin in general are much too blonde. The pose is also about average. He is definitely in an action stance, but it works as it isn’t overly dramatic or possesses the inability to stand up unassisted as other action-oriented figures are guilty of often. The coloring of his Jedi outfit is right on par with where it needs to be and the details throughout the figure are accurate and well done. So in spite of its annoying action feature, it certainly could be worse. Anakin Skywalker will undoubtedly be an overproduced action figure, not just in sheer volume, but in the number of different types as well. He is a major hero in the Prequel Trilogy and Hasbro is going to ensure that he is constantly in development for the line. There will be better, but if you’re looking for Anakin that leans closer to definitive status, Anakin Skywalker (Geonosis Hangar Duel) isn’t the figure for you. It's not even close.
