Clad in distinctive metallic armor, Captain Phasma commands the First Order's legions of troopers.

Well, well, well. Look what happens when Hasbro gives a figure 27 points of articulation and a phenomenal sculpt. You get the brilliant The Black Series [Phase III] Captain Phasma 3.75” action figure. After a grueling long wait, Captain Phasma has been confirmed to be part of the next wave of 3.75” action figures, presumed to still be Walmart exclusives, although always in motion is the Hasbro toy line. Captain Phasma is everything you’d expect her to be and more, and super-articulation junkies are going to freak out because it’s not too often that we get a figure that looks this great and is loaded with this much articulation. For The Force Awakens lineup, Hasbro went with the simple five points of articulation format which has disappointed the longtime collectors that have supported the basic figure line so fervently. Although it’s sad to think that we get about a half dozen super-articulated 3.75” figures since the Force Friday and the release of The Force Awakens, Hasbro hasn’t completely given up on this format yet And with the constant whimpering and whining from adult collectors that we want to see more, hopefully they’ll continue to pursue this format and keep us happy.

Captain Phasma is tall, but lean. She doesn’t look nearly as chunky as her 6” counterpart. The articulation that’s been given to her is absolutely beautiful. Aside from a ball-socket head, Captain Phasma is completely insert-molded ball-jointed articulation. This articulation system allows for optimal and incredible movement. You can pose her running, scampering, leaning or jetting into battle, and this action figure allows you to do this with open arms. Her paint job could use a little work. Hasbro has expressed to us that they’re not pursuing vac-metallization paint jobs because of the environment. Given this latest information, what they have done for Captain Phasma is pretty darn nice. It’s not a perfect glistening silver color, but for us it’s good enough. Hopefully it will be good enough for you too. Many of the paint operations that were missed on 2015’s TFA Captain Phasma (Forest) Build A Weapon figure have been forever captured on The Black Series [Phase III] version and the figure looks just plain awesome. Even the black lines on the helmet looks incredibly better than the Build A Weapon figure too. The sculpt is fantastic. A more accurate helmet has been designed alongside a more streamlined body and more defined features. She’s an absolute gem.

Captain Phasma comes with a removable cape and a First Order captain’s blaster. Unlike the Build A Weapons figure, Captain Phasma’s cape this time around is much more pliable and softer. It also is a completely different sculpt from the simply articulated version as well. It fits the figure like a glove, yet doesn’t really inhibit the articulation of the figure. It’' has been strategically sculpted and posed in a way that best interacts with the figure. We should count ourselves blessed for this. Also included is a blaster rifle which she can hold very well and you can store in on her right thigh armor when not in use if you so desire. What’s really comforting to see is when you have Captain Phasma posed with both arms holding onto the blaster. This was painfully not a possibility with the Build A Weapon figure. Overall, we couldn’t be more pleased with how the super-articulated Captain Phasma action figure has turned out. But it really makes us wish that Hasbro would bang these out more frequently and release more figures at a clip. Again, five figures from The Force Awakens just doesn’t cut it. And we should have to wait a whole year to get five or six more. Let’s hope 3.75” super-articulated figures return with a vengeance for the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. it’s out last and only hope.
