"Look out!"

Sideshow Collectibles is proud to present the Exclusive Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot Sixth Scale Figure from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Dispatched under the direct command of Darth Vader during the Battle of Yavin IV, high-ranking and fearless Imperial TIE Fighter pilots swarmed the skies to defend the Death Star from Rebel assault.

Emblazoned with stark white Imperial insignia, the pilot wears his unmistakable streamlined helmet, and glossy black armor fitted over a pristine standard-issue flight suit. Interchangeable wrist gauntlets allow dexterity for handling TIE Fighter controls, and positive gravity pressure boots keep him grounded in all situations. Although typically found in the cockpit, Sideshow’s Exclusive TIE Fighter Pilot also comes armed with a ‘retro’ inspired blaster – a nostalgic feature Star Wars collectors are sure to enjoy. Ready to serve the Galactic Empire with honor and distinction, the Imperial TIE Fighter pilot is an exceptional addition to any Star Wars military collection!

Just as Sideshow Collectibles takes a break from the clone invasion in their 1:6 Scale Figures line, they raise up the MSRP for the figure in this line as they finally make figures we’re ecstatic for because they’re based on the Original Trilogy. After a nice focus on the Battle of Hoth, Sideshow Collectibles now delves into the Battle of Yavin with a concentration of characters that we saw in the trench run dogfight. Next up is the Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot. It’s a bittersweet release because quality collectible make Medicom Toy released two different versions of this character in their popular Real Action Heroes line. Did Sideshow really need to revisit this character so soon? It’s definitely a bittersweet release because in all honesty, the Medicom Toy figures are in a smaller scale, so it’s obviously nice to get a figure that is in perfect scale to the rest of the figures in their fruitful and long running line. With exceptional attention to detail and the great sculpting that went into the helmet and corresponding parts, the Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot is a quality 1:6 Scale Figure. We just look forward to characters that haven’t been realized in this scale yet. There are so many others that need first time treatment in this scale is all.

The fabric black uniform contrasts beautifully against the extremely shiny helmet and chest armor. Even the plastic/rubber gloves and boots nicely contrast against the helmet and uniform too but without the sheen and shininess of the helmet. There is an unbelievable amount of detail in the helmet alone. What impresses us the most however is the range of smooth motion the head sculpt offers the collector even with the attached hoses coming from the helmet into the chest box. This is due to two high quality features. Firstly, the articulation in the head is ball-jointed and perfectly engineered to give the smoothest range of movement possible. Also, the hoses are extremely pliable and prevent almost any inhibition of head movement (to a certain point) which allows you to attain some pretty nifty poses with this character. With over an impressive 30 points of articulation, the Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot utilizes one of the indeterminant high quality bucks in Sideshow’s repertoire which gives collectors premium articulation with high quality functioning parts. Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot is a great looking 1:6 Scale Figure and definitely one of the standouts in Sideshow Collectibles’ line. They are obviously making us pay premium money for these things because they know how well made they are.

The Imperial TIE Fighter Pilot only comes with a handful of accessories. You’re not inundated with a ton of interchangeable hands, not knowing what to do with them all. But you do get an extra three hands, an E-11 blaster and a three-part hexagonal display stand. Hopefully you’ll purchase the Sideshow Exclusive version because Sideshow included a vintage Kenner styled blaster for you. If you’re a longtime Star Wars collector and know all about the vintage Kenner line, then you know what we’re talking about here. It looks just like a realistic version of the blaster that came with 1982’s TESB TIE Fighter Pilot and Cloud Car Pilot figures. It’s awesome! Sideshow Collectibles has done this vintage nod in the past if you recall. 2006’s Bib Fortuna (Jabba’s Major-Domo) came with an exclusive ceremonial staff that originally came with 1983’s ROTJ Bib Fortuna action figure. It is evident that the people at Sideshow Collectibles that put together these figures are diehard Star Wars fans who grew up with the original toys as well. We hope that Sideshow Collectibles continues with these wonderful quality 1:6 Scale Figures, we just really want to see more outside of the box characters that are a little more obscure, and never before attempted in this format.
