A trained warrior desperate to escape his past, Finn is plunged into adventure as his conscience drives him down a heroic but dangerous path.

It’s attack of the shampoo bottles! We had to admit that we’re surprised that the return of the Hasbro 12-Inch line has made its way into The Force Awakens line after a dreadful performance in the Rebels toy line. But perhaps Hasbro feels that a new Star Wars film will make these very disappointing Star Wars toys better sellers this year than last year. Obviously, the most symbolic characters have been chosen for the line thus far, but how many times do we need the same character in every scale. Perhaps that question is rhetorical and borderline pointless because every toy line makes multiple scales of all the main characters. But in The Force Awakens line it feels like it is the same thing over and over and over again but just in different heights. It becomes rather boring over a very short period. And if collector and kid interest don’t remain piqued, then the line is doomed to fail. Oh, and Hasbro needs to keep store shelves packed too, but that’s a whole other issue. We get another Finn (Jakku) figure which has a pretty nice sculpt. But the figure’s functionality and size are not needed when better options for this character already exist in other formats.

It’s always cool getting new Star Wars action figures from Hasbro, but the only problem that exists when the launch of the toy line and release of the film are months apart is that we can become little obsessive to know more about all of the cool characters. At least when it comes to Finn (Jakku), collectors have already seen him in the Episode VII trailer and information has been released that he is one of the main characters in The Force Awakens. So it makes complete sense that he would be one of the first characters released in multiple formats. That doesn’t mean he is needed, however. At Force Friday launch, you could find the Finn (Jakku) 12-Inch Figure with relative ease. And as you’d expect, he hasn’t been briskly selling, but not too many of these figures are unless it is Kylo Ren or the First Order Stormtrooper. Anyway, Finn (Jakku) is another “more of the same” type of toy, and aside from two extra points of articulation. It’s just a “blown up” version of the 3.75” Finn (Jakku) Build A Weapon (Desert) figure that most everyone has already. Finn (Jakku) has a great sculpt and decent features. But he looks too statuesque and doesn’t bring anything noteworthy into The Force Awakens toy line. And for those that can overlook the figure’s lack of articulation, Finn (Jakku) should make a nice addition to your collection.

Finn (Jakku) comes with seven points of articulation. This is the standard for Hasbro 12-Inch Figures in this day and age. There isn’t any removable jacket shell for this release, but you do get a scaled blaster rifle which fits nicely into his right hand. The paint operations are pretty nicely done, but the top half and lower half of his jacket are two different colors. We think that maybe at the factory level they didn’t use the exact recipe for the two different sections for this figure which resulted in coloring differences. The head sculpt looks like the onscreen character, but you’ll probably have to go through a couple of samples before you find a paint job that will satisfy you. Really focus on the character’s head sculpt. That is what will make or break this figure. Finn (Jakku) has a great center of gravity. He has been positioned in a VERY static pose which is fine we guess for this scale. We just don’t know how kids will find interest in these figures. It seems that this figure could have been improved by giving it more accessories. Finn (Jakku) comes with the aforementioned hefty blaster, but that’s it. Overall, Finn (Jakku) looks nice but does anyone need another one…. and this big no less?
