"I'm the best. Always was."

Joining the Star Wars Scum and Villainy collection, stage exciting showdowns from the final years of the Republic with the Sideshow Collectibles Jango Fett Sixth Scale Figure. Boasting a reputation as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, the expert mercenary is ready for hire decked out in a hand-tailored flight suit, layered belts with holsters and pouches, a hardshell armored vest, and western-style poncho. Destined to one day become the face of the Clone army, Fett’s identity can be concealed behind his iconic Mandalorian helmet, or revealed with an additional swap-out portrait complete with pilot headgear. Always one step ahead of his enemies, Jango is fully equipped with his two favorite jetpack models for high-flying escapades, and trademark shiny dual blaster pistols with smoke and fire attachments.

Displayed on an adjustable action figure stand with themed base art, the Jango Fett figure is a must have for Star Wars fans and collectors!

Just when we thought it would no longer be possible for a maker of 1:6 Scale collectibles to address a better version of Jango Fett in 1:6 Scale, Sideshow Collectibles hits another home run with their stunning release of Jango Fett. But those accolades need to be interpreted with how awesome the figure looks. Because its functionality needs a great deal of work. We’ll explain. It’s easily the best version of Jango Fett out there, even rivaling Medicom Toy’s stunning Real Action Heroes interpretations. While many licensees have approached their own 12” scaled Jango Fett figures by focusing on one version of his outfits over another (generally speaking), Sideshow Collectibles has magically worked in every last angle of Jango Fett as he appeared in Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones by including all of the necessary parts and accessories to make him 100% scene specific depending upon the collector’s mood. While this isn’t necessarily thinking outside of the box, to include every possible accessory and outfit for a major Star Wars bounty hunter is such a cool thing. Sure, it can’t be done for the likes of Boba Fett where the outfits are different from top to bottom, but Jango Fett shared enough similarities from one outfit to the next that this “all for the price of one” could easily be accomplished. As a bonus, Sideshow Exclusive collectors get treated to an especially nice addition: his portrait with pilot headgear seen in a very brief scene in Episode II (where he and Boba Fett are trying to destroy Obi-Wan Kenobi in the meteor field). This could have been easily overlooked, but Sideshow ensured, albeit via their own exclusive, that it is possible to have a truly complete Jango Fett high-end collectible in one box. With a stunning likeness and proportions that are lean and athletic, we now believe that we won’t see a better Jango Fett, providing Hot Toys doesn’t step up to the plate next.

As with anything Star Wars, Jango Fett couldn’t be released drama free either, right? Well, maybe that’s a mild exaggeration. The debate surrounding Jango Fett’s flight suit likely ranks second to the drama of whether Han Solo’s coat is blue or brown in The Empire Strikes Back. To further add confusion, both Hasbro and Medicom Toy have provided collectors with plenty of Jango Fett action figures and collectibles where the figure is wearing either a blue or purple flight suit. And there has been little to no consistency when it comes to the flight suit’s color and whether Jango Fett is based on his Kamino or Geonosis appearance. For Medicom Toy, they addressed a purple flight suit for Jango Fett on Geonosis, and a blue flight suit for Jango Fett on Kamino. For Hasbro, well, let’s just say they were all over the map. Sideshow Collectibles seems to have made things easier on collectors. We believe they’ve researched the source materials thoroughly and decided to kill two birds with one stone. Adopting the purple flight suit as their choice, Sideshow provides all of the scene specific iterations of Jango Fett in one deluxe set utilizing one color of flight suit. We’re thankful for this and we hope it will steer other licensees in the path of more consistency in the future. We’ve always been more inclined to believe that Jango Fett was wearing a purple colored flight suit, and not that has been acknowledged by a company whose mission is to remain as faithful as possible to what is actually seen onscreen. But while they nailed the color of the flight suit, Sideshow became a little “too” creative with the ornamentation of this figure. For example, knee and shin armor pop off if you look at the figure funny. Our figure’s neck joint couldn’t be extracted from the body cavity for the interchangeable portrait. We began breaking the armor by squeezing too hard. And the gimmicky blast and smoke effects are so bizarre that we almost don’t get it.

That being said, the amount of detail that went into the figure shouldn’t be easily dismissed. For the first time, we can see barbs on the sides of Jango’s rocket. We see clearly how the Kamino saber dart attaches (and can be removed) from the figure’s gauntlet. And we see details in the costume we just didn’t know existed. There is a lot to take in here. The accessories are plentiful, although for the first time we think Sideshow got cheap on us with hand attachments. There isn’t an official blaster holding left hand. That’s unfortunate. More importantly, both jetpacks, jetpack flame additions, the Westar-34 blaster pistols (with both laser blast and smoke effects), a poncho, removable rocket, and other things are all included here. Also included is an “unofficial” environmentally inspired display stand with an interchangeable pole that will give Jango Fett some additional height as if he is flying in the air (just like he did in the film). All of these considerations set this Jango Fett apart from all previous versions. We just wish it was more “user friendly” (for lack of a better word). We believe Sideshow’s goal was to confidently included everything needed and to not hold back and pull out all the stops. Sadly, not everything worked perfectly. Besides, with an MSRP of $219.99, sorry Sideshow Collectibles, but you better be including everything needed to complete a Star Wars figure, so it’s expected at this point. We’re sure that Jango Fett will stand the test of time. Sideshow Collectibles have come incredibly far since their grassroots days in the Star Wars line. Remember that awful Art S. Buck body type? Thank the Maker those days are history. Now we get to look forward to gems like this in the 1:6 Scale Figure line. Besides, it’s extremely refreshing to get a 1:6 Scale Figure that isn’t a clone from them. Jango Fett is a testament that their fire is not about to die. Just get that fire fine tuned. We can’t wait to see what’s lurking around the corner. It’s surely going to be exciting however.
