A member of the esteemed 12-member Jedi Council, Adi Gallia and her colleagues must make the fateful decision whether or not Anakin Skywalker will be trained as a Jedi.

One thing that might have surprised Star Wars fans in The Phantom Menace was that women could be Jedi too. When we saw our first glimpse of the Jedi High Council in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, we noticed a couple of female Jedi, unless one of them was Yoda in drag (which we knew wasn’t a possibility). But the beautiful Adi Gallia stood out from amongst the dozen Jedi that made up the council because most of us didn’t expect to see such an attractive woman have this important role in the Star Wars universe until now. Hasbro decided that many of the Jedi High Council members should be made into action figures, whether or not they had a big role in the film. Adi Gallia didn’t have much of a role at all, but we're extremely happy Hasbro has made her into an action figure. It’s just that it seems Adi Gallia could have used a little tweaking before Hasbro considered this sculpt finished. She looks very much like her onscreen counterpart, but a few revisions may have made her perfect.

Many of the Jedi in the Episode I line come with some extra articulation. Adi Gallia benefits from this because Hasbro added a swivel left elbow for aiding her is swinging a lightsaber. Interestingly, aside from Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, none of the other Jedi were shown with ignited lightsabers, but Hasbro decided to include them with the action figures for what we assume is extra play value. Adi Gallia turned out well, but she has a “deer in headlights” look in her face, which we believe can be blamed on the sculpt as well as the paint job. She still appears pretty and the proportions look good, but we really wish Hasbro could have given the action figure softer features. She comes with a molded robe (which includes a hole for her left hand to poke through and hold a lightsaber) and the included purplish-red with silver hilt lit lightsaber. She looks pretty darn good when fully outfitted and she has a decent center of gravity which prevents her from falling.

Adi Gallia looks equally good without her outer robe. The extra articulation doesn’t provide a whole heck more movement, but it does help with the lightsaber holding poses. With seven points of articulation, Adi Gallia clearly can’t look too dramatic displayed on a shelf, but she wasn’t too action-oriented in the film, so all is well. Pretty much every Star Wars collector knew that they wanted to complete the Jedi High Council in action figure form. Hasbro was off to a good start with the Episode I line and Adi Gallia only helps us reach that goal. But Hasbro is going to have to figure out a way to add knee articulation so these characters can eventually sit in a chair as they do in the film. Overall, Adi Gallia is good, but not great. Hopefully Hasbro will be able to update her with more articulation in the future. But for now this one should hold up well for the time being. It’s not too often we get female Jedi, so she should hold a special place in collectors’ hearts for this reason alone.
