Greedo - POTF2 [FB/CT] - Basic

A Rodian bounty hunter, Greedo accepted Jabba the Hutt's contract to dispose of renegade Han Solo. Confronting Solo inside the Mos Eisley cantina, Greedo earned only a blaster shot to the chest.

Another Greedo already? Yes, but there is good reason why Hasbro has decided to update Greedo just three short years after his original release. The Power Of The Force [FlashBack/CommTech] line is taking well known characters from the Star Wars saga and elevating them to be more fitting for the modern era. Hasbro has tweaked articulation and, most notably, accessories for these figures to make them noteworthy additions to your Star Wars collection. But we think that Hasbro has also elevated Greedo’s sculpt in particular provides case in point to the seriousness Hasbro has when it comes to creating good Star Wars action figures. Gone is the misshapen head and incorrect eyes. Instead, look at the new head sculpt and tell us that the new Greedo just doesn’t make you smile. The inclusion of a removable vest (which sports awesome blaster damage underneath) and new knee articulation so that this character can sit at a bar table just push it over the edge for us. You may have not been ready for a new Greedo action figure, but he is here for you to buy and you should definitely not look the other way. This is a figure none should miss.

Although most would say that they love their 1979 vintage Kenner Greedo action figure, it wasn’t technically correct as far as screen accuracy is concerned. That figure was wearing a bizarre ribbed jumpsuit and no vest. The head sculpt was pretty stellar and the weapon was cool because it fit into his closed hand flawlessly. In 1996, Kenner/Hasbro gave us our very first modern update to Greedo. While it was exciting to see a modern update to the classic character, the figure had a pea-sized head that made the entire figure look very, very off in most collectors’ eyes. But the updated costume and excellent pain operations gave hope to most that Hasbro had the spirit in them to eventually produce an incredibly screen accurate version of the character in 3.75” scale. We feel that the CommTech version of Greedo comes awfully close. Hasbro gave him a resized head, muted coloring and while we’re not convinced the paint operations are completely spot on perfect, this may be the most accurate Greedo yet. The eyes are perfectly spherical, but Hasbro once again neglects to paint the a metallic dark purple (the actual color of his eyes). But we also get an accurately scale gun which once again fits beautifully into his hands.

Paired nicely with the Han Solo figure that has been upgraded as well, this Greedo figure is the perfect version to fill out an Cantina display, up to and including the pop-up cardboard version Hasbro made as well. As stated previously, both figures can sit at a cantina table without issue. And because Greedo has pretty neat “battle- damage” from Han Solo’s blaster, this makes Greedo even more poignant to these types of dioramas. With all of the other Rodians walking around Mos Eisley in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, we imagine that you can use your 1996 version to be another character besides Greedo. And because they look different enough from each other, it seems that utilizing them for different characters makes the most sense at this point. The vest may be a little too pale and maybe Greedo’s skin even suffers from too light a color palette, but overall we’re quite pleased with how this version turned out. We imagine that like us you will be most impressed with the head sculpt, but there are other factors that should equally please. Greedo may have not needed an update right away. There are a ton of other cantina characters yet to be made that seem like they should have their shot as an action figure first, but that doesn’t mean this version is meritless.
