The Ewoks are sentient furred bipeds native to the moon of Endor. They are curious individuals that stand about one meter tall. Although extremely skilled in forest survival and the construction of primitive technology like gliders and catapults, the Ewoks have yet to progress past stone-level technology. They are quick learners however, when exposed to advanced technology with simple mechanical processes and concepts. Their tribal structure includes a ruling Council of Ewoks headed by a chief, and a medicine man that keeps their mystical lore and heals the injured. Princess Leia befriends one of the Ewoks, and the tribe joins the Rebel cause and provides assistance that paves the way to victory at the Battle of Endor.

Throughout the years of the modern Star Wars line, Hasbro hasn’t been very generous to collectors who love Ewoks. Despite many hardcore collectors constantly begging for more Ewoks in the basic figure line, Hasbro has been quite reluctant to heed our requests. Sure, there have been the occasional pack-in figures, but most have just been slightly retooled and subsequently repainted POTF2 sculpts simply re-envisioned for the current line. (They still look outdated and aged sadly.) So you can imagine why the release of the Ewoks (Battle Of Endor) 12 Inch Figures set would be such a shock to the system. Hasbro created two splendid Ewok 12 Inch Figures, kept the price point at $19.99, and included more accessories than were needed. Grateful for this release, it honestly only makes us pine for more 12” scaled Ewok figures because it seems that no one can get enough of them. We’re thrilled to see these two released in the larger scale, but we would just as much like to see them also released in the 3.75” scale as well. Inside of this particular set is Logray (Ewok Medicine Man) and Leektar. Interestingly their names appear nowhere on the packaging. It may even interest you that discussion in various forums incorrectly referred to Leektar as Keoulkeech because of the little information known about this character.

It’s almost the equivalent of swallowing crow and/or humble pie when Hasbro makes a character in the 12 Inch Figures scale that does not already exist in the 3.75” line. They did this to 1999’s Episode I R2-A6 12 Inch Figure, and now the same is true for Leektar. (Editor’s Note: R2-A6 was finally released in 2006’s TSC Astromech Droid Pack Series II exclusive multipack and Leektar was finally released as 2008’s TLC Leektar & Nippet (BD 4) figure two-pack.) The basic figure line should be the determining factor for whether Hasbro should be releasing 12” figures in the line or not. If it doesn’t exist in 3.75” scale, then it should be made in 12” scale. That being said, Leektar is a fantastic figure with a screen accurate sculpt, beautiful paint job and he comes with some amazing accessories as well. You might be interested to learn that Leektar’s headdress is not removable. He still has a swivel head joint, but it is severely inhibited and might as well not even count as a point of articulation. That said, the cowl is ornately decorated. There are many animal remains the adorn it and Hasbro painstakingly painted all of the individually unique parts beautifully. It’s truly a toy version of a work of art. Leektar is simply articulated, but the sculpt is fantastic and we are especially impressed with the head sculpt, buck teeth, and all.

Logray is definitely more popular Ewok of this two-pack. Last released in The Power Of The Force “2” Freeze Frame line (alongside Wicket), Logray gets the 12 Inch Figure treatment and it should elate collectors. He comes with a removable headdress that fits perfectly on top of his head. He also comes with a replica of his infamous staff and medicine bag satchel. A probably less known accessory included is one drumstick. We’re not exactly sure why there is just one, or why Hasbro didn’t include an actual drum, but it’s interesting to say the least. Logray is articulated in the same way Leektar is. But because his headdress is removable, you get complete swivel movement from his head. The sculpt and paint job of Logray are both excellent. Collectors should be thrilled with how well he came out. Ewoks (Battle Of Endor) is a real treat in the Star Wars “Saga” 12 Inch Figures line. But like we mentioned earlier, we wish Hasbro could release as many Ewoks as possible in this scale. Wicket The Ewok was released in the Action Collection assortment during the POTF2 era, but that has aged a little bit, and now that we know what Hasbro can do with this species, we hope to see more. Leektar and Logray are both great figures, and they are wonderful releases for the 12 Inch Figures line.
