Three years after the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance continues the fight against the Imperial forces and suffers a defeat on the ice planet Hoth. Luke Skywalker journeys to the planet Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda, who has lived in hiding since the fall of the Republic. In an attempt to convert Luke to the dark side, the evil Sith Lord, Darth Vader, lures Luke into a trap in the Cloud City of Bespin. In the midst of a fierce lightsaber duel with Vader, Luke faces the startling revelation that the Sith Lord is in fact his father, Anakin Skywalker.

What’s worse than repacking a 1997 The Power Of The Force "2" [Red/Green] figure into the Star Wars “Saga” line? How about kit-bashing TWO 1997 The Power Of The Force "2" [Red/Green] figures and repackaging the “new” figure in the Star Wars “Saga” line. We have to tell all of you that the Hoth Survival Accessory Set is unequivocally the weakest of all four TARGET exclusive multipacks. As with anything that gets repackaged, it becomes tedious for the collector right out of the gate. Star Wars collecting is, and will always be, a hobby that focuses on 3.75” basic figures. When a newly released product includes an old and aged figure, it’s hard for the collector to express excitement over it, even if it comes with some new and never-before-released accessories. Sadly, not even the new stuff packaged along with the Hoth Rebel Trooper may be enough to sell you. But the kit-based Hoth Rebel Solider in and of itself the most awkward aspect of this release. Hasbro should know that a terrible action figure plus a lousy action figure does not equal a good “new” action figure.

The Hoth Rebel Trooper in this set is made from the head of 1997’s POTF2 [R/G] Hoth Rebel Soldier figure and the body of 1997’s POTF2 [R/G] Luke Skywalker (In Hoth Gear) figure. The new combination of parts has also been completely repainted and, in a desperate effort, to create an all-new character. Honestly, the final result is contrived and, from the best of our knowledge bank, is entirely inaccurate. This new figure isn’t even likable as far as we’re concerned. We’re a little bit aggravated that Hasbro would cut corners so cheaply to deliver this set based on one of the most favorite battles in the entire Star Wars saga. With only six points of articulation, the “updated” Hoth Rebel Soldier certainly cannot obtain every last pose you desire, nor is it utterly interactive with the rest of the accessories included in the multipack. If you want to know, the Hoth Survival Accessory set is the weakest of all four. In our opinion, it should have been the strongest. Hasbro certainly missed the mark here. You'll only find merit in th eaccessories here. The figure is a complete waste of your time.

The all-new Hoth Sentry Droid may be the most exciting accessory here, but it’s screen-inaccurate because it never appeared in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. AT best, it's perhaps another desperate attempt to add some value to this set. It looks like a miniature turret, as seen during the Battle of Hoth, on treads. BUut it's not part of the Star Wars Original Trilogy. Its tank-like features may interest some collectors, but overall it’s lacking. It fires “proton torpedo” projectiles, and they’re included here too. Also included are a Hoth survival backpack (with awkward shoulder hooks), blaster rifle, scanner, two gas masks, and a power box. Believe it or not, the powerbox may be the most helpful piece included here. It is a hollow piece of plastic, but it fits flawlessly with other things at Echo Base (or the Battle of Hoth) and has a lovely outer sculpt. It’s clear to us that Hasbro likely rushed the Hoth Survival Accessory Set because Hasbro could have made this better and with so many other approaches instead. It’s undoubtedly an exclusive you don’t need to own.
