Sideshow presents the Clone Trooper Deluxe: Shiny, fresh from the clone hatcheries of Kamino, these rookie privates have yet to face the realities of warfare. Crafted on a fully articulated body with pristine white armor, the Clone Trooper 'Shiny' features interchangeable Phase One and Two helmets, and an arsenal of essential munitions.

As a full-scale intergalactic conflict rages on, a massive army of Clone Troopers fights in service of the Republic. Recruit your Army.

Well it looks like Sideshow Collectibles has found a clever way to skirt around increasing the edition sizes of past 1:6 Scale Collectibles that have since sold out but demand remains strong. In what can be considered a surprising move, four “new” Clone Trooper releases have entered the Militaries Of Star Wars line. But there is more here than may meet your eye. Not only has Sideshow Collectibles given collectors of the 1:6 Scale Figures line a second chance at clones, they’ve added a nice amount of newness, like awesome accessories, to them that makes them technically “first time” releases. Additionally, these expensive “army builders” have all received the updated Armored body buck which means that their silhouette is more accurate and the joints have been tightened up so that the figures can maintain the poses unassisted without falling down. It confuses us a little that Sideshow Collectibles didn’t begin the “rehashing” with the much desired Imperial Stormtrooper figure first which today commands a premium that most collectors just cannot afford. That figure is still highly sought after and technically wasn’t even completed the right way. Collectors wanted to see shiny armor, but it arrived dull instead. This would have been an ample opportunity to set that issue straight while giving the collecting community another chance at the most popular trooper in the Star Wars saga.

What’s most interesting to us about the new Deluxe Clone Trooper 1:6 Scale Figures is that Sideshow is sourcing them from The Clone Wars, and not Attack Of The Clones and/or Revenge Of The Sith even though clearly this figure can be sourced to all of them. This in and of itself also lets them escape from their claims that they will never break edition size. Is that sly of them? Not really. After all, collectors are treated to never before seen exclusive accessories here and many of them are indeed specific to The Clone Wars. You know what to expect when it comes to the Armored body type. This buck doesn’t disappoint in the least. The figure, even with all of that armor on him, is completely mobile and can achieve very impressive poses thanks to an expertly crafted articulation system. The biggest enhancement of this version is the shiny finish it has received. It’s quite astounding how a little bit of a glossy finish makes these clones look as good as they do. Of course, this can only mean this Clone Trooper is right off the conveyor belt and hasn’t seen a moments action in the Clone Wars yet. But with all of the gear Sideshow has included with this 1:6 Scale Figure, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to get his hands dirty. A first time available rotating cannon has been included and it looks incredible. Thanks to this figure’s awesome articulation, you can make the Clone Trooper hold it exactly as we say in The Clone Wars film and television show. You’re going to be thoroughly impressed.

Sideshow Collectibles has also added a backpack which looks fantastic as well. Think of backpack Ahsoka Tano used to transport Rotta the Hutt from place to place in The Clone Wars film. That’s pretty much the exact same thing that has been included here. Sideshow Collectibles have also added four droid popper grenades which look awesome and add something that we haven’t yet seen before in this scale either. We want to express how neat it is to get so many “exclusive” items with these mildly reinvented 1:6 Scale Figures. It does lighten the pain of paying for something that you may feel you already own. Additionally, the phase II helmet, that was only seen in on the all-white armor in The Clone Wars during the opening season 4 episode entitled Water War, has also been added for good measure. These all-white phase II clones were mostly seen in Revenge Of The Sith, but since this piece is based on The Clone Wars, it’s our best guess that it has been sourced from the Water War episode. Aside from that, the rest of the accessories included here are pretty standard. Plenty of extra hand and feet attachments and an arsenal of weapons accompany this Clone Trooper for compete preparation for the battles he soon will face in the Clone Wars. The Deluxe Clone Trooper sets are interesting us for sure, but we wonder how successful they’ll be overall. We still feel that there are SO MANY Original Trilogy characters that could stand a second release before more clones, so hopefully Sideshow Collectibles is just getting their feet wet with these first.
