The dreaded bounty hunter Bossk's reputation as a killer began at birth, when he clawed his way out of his own egg and, moments later, devoured each and every one of his unhatched siblings. This display of savage dominance impressed Bossk's father and earned him his name, which, in his native Trandoshan, translates to, 'devours his prey.'

As he matured, Bossk developed a reputation for slaughtering and skinning Wookiees a Trandoshan tradition that threw him head-to-head with Chewbacca and Han Solo on several occasions. Their continued run-ins developed into a long-standing rivalry, and when he was approached by Darth Vader to hunt down and capture the Millenium Falcon, Bossk eagerly accepted the opportunity. That particular bounty was denied to Bossk, however, when Han Solo and his friends were tracked by Boba Fett to Bespin's Cloud City after the Battle of Hoth.

Despite this significant loss, his tenure as a bounty hunter was mostly successful, spanning the time period from the Clone Wars and the Dark Times, all the way through the Rebellion and beyond. A true renegade, Bossk's lengthy career found him toe-to-toe with Jabba the Hutt, the Galactic Empire, the Old Republic, and the Jedi Order. Bossk eventually even killed and devoured his own father for leadership of the Bounty Hunter's Guild.

We’ve all been “Bossked” thanks to the brilliance of the artisans at Sideshow Collectibles. We’re constantly amazed that Sideshow Collectibles finds ways to outdo themselves time and time again. Admittedly, we’ve been deflated over the last couple of years since they were on a kick to produce so many characters for their Militaries Of Star Wars sub-collection. The incessant clones that have been released in their 1:6 Scale Figures line have been great, but they lose their “wow” factor since they released one after the next with little consideration to other characters. So characters like the Tusken Raider (Sand People) and ESPECIALLY Bossk (Bounty Hunter) make us a tad bit happier because their unique looks defy repetition. It keeps the line spontaneous in a way. Let’s get it out from the start. Bossk (Bounty Hunter) eclipses every single 1:6 Scale Figure to date as the best effort yet. There really isn’t any other way to express this. It’s not often we get classic Star Wars characters in their Scum & Villainy collection, so when they’re done this well it makes it all the more exciting. We may be biased. There’s definitely no hiding our affection for Bossk – he’s been one of our absolute favorite Star Wars characters since day one – and we can assure you that if you don’t collect any 1:6 Scale Figures to date, this should be the figure to grab you hook, line and sinker. The Bossk (Bounty Hunter) 1:6 Scale Figure is ultimate sensory overload. Forget what you think you know about this character and his outfit because the amount of detail Sideshow Collectibles has shoved into this high-end collectible is unprecedented – and that’s even with his significantly reduced interchangeable parts (when compared to the clones). Every aspect of this figure is stunning. We’re so overwhelmed by it that we’re not sure we will be able to present what it offers collectors in a clear and concise fashion. It’s that good. But we’ll try.

Sideshow Collectibles revitalized their popular Prometheus 1.1 body recently to Prometheus 1.2) and Bossk (Bounty Hunter) is one of the latest 1:6 Scale Figures to receive this updated treatment. The proportions have been tightened up to provide an excellently believable silhouette underneath the clothing and the joints have been tightened up a bit so the figure can maintain it’s poses without sliding out of them and falling. As a result, Bossk (Bounty Hunter) has a natural humanoid shape that’s identifiable and reminiscent to the character we fell in love with from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. This of course is a tremendous upgrade for collectors who have been disheartened by so many 1:6 Scale Figures (that were released before Bossk) that can’t stand up without falling down for anything. You’ll find you won’t experience this annoyance with Bossk. While the updated body type is a wonderful enhancement, you’re probably going to be much more concerned with the details of the sculpt and costume instead. And you should. Obviously, new arms, legs and head(s) were newly produced for Bossk (Bounty Hunter). No other Star Wars character has these unique traits. Sideshow did a phenomenal job producing them from scratch. The head sculpts are amazing with incredible scaly detail and the most audible expressions you could possibly imagine. They scream the emotions you see in the faces. The arms are long (and might not be as articulated as you might have hoped to see) and the details incorporated have been ripped right out of the film. Perhaps the part of Bossk we’re most impressed with are the long claws (nails) in his digits. Sideshow Collectibles actually sculpted separate “nails” for the feet and hands and the final result is mind blowing. We just can’t believe the realism they create. You’re going to be impressed too.

Bossk’s costume is out of the world, literally. They’ve managed to capture the color of his suit perfectly which is always a great thing, but you’re just not going to believe what they did to adorn it. Always looking like a similar but yellow version to the orange X-wing fighter pilot suits seen in the Original Trilogy, Sideshow created an exact replica of the clothing for Bossk (Bounty Hunter). Real metal, cloth and plastic additions have been incorporated to give it a realistic appearance as possible. The hose that runs from his front to back is actually a separately sculpted piece made of plastic and sewn onto his outfit and affixed in place with additional fabric. Then there are wire details (made from real metal) that bend as need when you make the most of his articulation. And these piece of wiring easily bend back into place so you can return him to his original state, unaltered. Let’s not forget his weapon either. His grenade launcher is a simple design, but Sideshow Collectibles took great care to ensure it’s accuracy from Episode V. This is an area that they never struggled matching to the Star Wars universe. Sadly, we find it very difficult to secure it into his unique hand grip, so we wonder if this aspect was considered or overlooked. We also feel his rifle strap is a tad too long. The Sideshow Exclusive accessory is the alternate portrait. What we love about it (even though it isn’t screen accurate) is that is indirectly pays homage to Hasbro’s Unleashed line. We were quite amazed how similar the exclusive head sculpt is to the head sculpt on the Unleashed piece. Everything comes full circle eventually, doesn’t it? Bossk (Bounty Hunter) is without a doubt the most necessary 1:6 Scale Figure for your collection. If we can urge you to start buying products from Sideshow Collectibles, please start with this unbelievable piece. We wish we could guarantee your full satisfaction, but you won’t have any regrets at all.
