The Coruscant Clone Troopers were the guardians of the Capital City who would ultimately eliminate the Jedi under Darth Sidious's Order 66. This meant that the Jedi Order would be identified as traitors to the Republic who had to be eliminated.

Things changed for the better by the time Gentle Giant Ltd. released the Coruscant Clone Trooper Deluxe Mini Bust. For the very first time, an interchangeable human clone portrait was included for versatility and uniqueness. Before that, Gentle Giant Lt. release a plain white Clone Trooper, the 501st Legion Trooper, the 212th Attack Battalion Clone Trooper and Shock Trooper Mini Busts in Deluxe style as well, but none came with the head of a Jango Fett lookalike. Admittedly, we’re honestly not crazy about the modular Deluxe Mini Busts collectibles. These aren’t action figures of any size. They’re polystone micro statues that should for all intents and purposes be one piece (or as close to one piece as possible). But even though that’s our personal feelings on this line, we can’t help but thoroughly enjoy the entire Coruscant Clone Trooper Mini Bust – interchangeable parts and all.

We find it interesting that all Star Wars licensees have shied away from developing one of the most frequently seen flavors of clones in their respective collectible lines. The clone with the subtle gray lines on its armor is part of the 41st Elite Corps. We saw the camouflaged versions of this company during the Battle of Kashyyyk. We additionally saw the clone with the standard white armor (with gray details) on both Coruscant and on Utapau as well. (Yes, they’re on Utapau too – look carefully.) So why are they not popular with licensees like they are to Star Wars fans? Most have found a way to add this character to their lineups, but he’s been one of the last clone attacked. We like to refer to him as having “Zuckuss syndrome”. If you know anything about Star Wars collecting, you know that with Hasbro, Zuckuss was always the last bounty hunter made – even in the vintage Kenner line. So, we attribute that same type of avoidance with the Coruscant Clone Trooper additionally as well.

The Coruscant Clone Trooper Deluxe Mini Bust really does look fantastic. The multiple arm, hand and hand with blaster attachments really give this piece the diversity it needs for the hardcore clone collector. Even with all of these extra pieces included, we’ve remained a bit surprised that they don’t offer as many extra combinations that would give him many unique poses so that he would look dramatically different from one pose to the next. Let us be clear. You can definitely be somewhat creative here and the additional human clone portrait really brings this Mini Bust to an entirely different level (for the best of course), but you may be slightly disappointed with the limitations of how he can hold his weaponry. An exclusive to Action Figure Xpress, the Coruscant Clone Trooper has been limited to only 2500 pieces. This makes it as “rare” as the 212th Attack Battalion Clone Trooper Mini Bust. We do have to tell you however that this Coruscant Clone Trooper is the nicest of all the generic clones from Episode III released by Gentle Giant Ltd.
