Obi-Wan and clone troopers discover a macabre legacy of terror on Geonosis. The Jedi General and a team of clone troopers enter a Geonosian temple and find an underground hive of undead Geonosian warriors, their menacing queen – and the frightening brain worms she uses to control her zombie army.

That poor last wave of Walmart exclusive DVD sets. The first two waves were straight and boring repacks. Then the third wave each includes a new clone trooper but gets canceled. Thankfully discount chain TJ Maxx has saved us all by purchasing these sets from retail giant Walmart. The bonus here is that they are selling them for a much lower price than we would have paid originally at Wally World. The Legacy Of Terror (Obi-Wan Kenobi And Clone Trooper) (1 of 2) is not as exciting as the brain worm infested Brain Invaders (Ahsoka And Clone Trooper Scythe) (2 of 2) set, but we do get a unique style of the 212th Attack Battalion Clone Trooper with “helmet lights” as seen in the Legacy Of Terror episode from Season 2 of The Clone Wars. We’re going to be honest here. The revised Clone Trooper isn’t anything too exciting. Hasbro did out forth that much effort to make this figure pop. In fact, at some angles you may not even notice the newly sculpted lights on the “temples” of his helmet. Still, we do appreciate the inclusion of something new here. Hasbro could have easily given us a set completely filled with repacks, but they didn’t – so thank the Maker for that!

We won’t go too deeply into this here because we already have in the Brain Invaders (Ahsoka And Clone Trooper Scythe) (2 of 2) review, but by now you have to be convinced that there is a major breakdown between Hasbro and Walmart (and retail in general) – even if one side is fully to blame or not. Hasbro reps enter retail establishments to help with the various “shops” in the toy department to make sure their product is available to purchase by the buying public. So why didn’t these reps intercede in the case of the tail end of the year exclusives including 2011's TCW [SOTDS] Ultimate Gift Set, 2011's TCW [SOTDS] AT-RT Walker With ARF Trooper Deluxe/Class I set, 2011's TCW [SOTDS] BARC Speeder With Clone Trooper Buzz Deluxe/Class I set and even these DVD sets? All of these exclusives were due into Walmart by the summer of 2011, but most didn’t make it out until December and now the DVD sets didn’t come at all until relegated to clearance fodder in March of 2012. Thankfully the latter three all did make it out to retail, but not in enough time for the entire holiday season to support them. But once again, this could have a negative impact on the exclusive program from Hasbro and we could see them scaling them back to avoid this mess in the future.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a repaint of 2008’s TCW [F/S1] Obi-Wan Kenobi (No. 2) figure. This figure is antiquated now and they could have used the figure from 2010’s TCW [SOTDS] BARC Speeder With Obi-Wan Kenobi Deluxe/Class I set (or the repainted version found in 2011’s TCW [SOTDS] Assault On Geonosis Battle Packs set) which includes ball-jointed knees and ankles. In other words, Hasbro had better options to include in this set than the one they chose. Clone Trooper has been identified on some early lists as Clone Trooper Gearshift. While this is correct, it’s also correct to call this figure simply Clone Trooper, all of the 212th Attack Battalion Clone Troopers were wearing the “miner lights” on their helmets. So it makes sense that “Gearshift” didn’t make it to the final packaging. The figure is kit-bashed by utilizing the body from 2009’s TCW [F/S1] Clone Trooper (212th Attack Battalion) (No. 19) and an all-new sculpted helmet. This Clone Trooper is very simple, but looks pretty cool alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and the rest of your 212th Attack Battalion Clone Troopers. Also included in the packaging are two action figure stands, Galactic Battle Game cards (one for each character) and a die. While these are definitely the best of all the DVD sets, don’t expect this line to continue in the future.
