Review: Princess Leia (As Boushh) - 1:6 Scale Figures

Posted by Paul | November 30, 2013 at 08:03 AM ET |

Another great older figure in the 1:6 Scale Figures line is Princess Leia (As Boushh). Aside from a few portrait issues, she came out pretty darn excellently. Oh, and how about Sideshow Collectibles remembering that important 1138 reference? See all of this and more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Luke Skywalker (Rebel Hero: Yavin IV) is a good figure, but not perfect. See how well it celebrates 30 years of Star Wars in our Research Droids Reviews today. A Fish Tale So Big, You Won't Even Believe The Visual Proof!

This isn't Photoshop folks. Ask anyone, I don't know how to do anything in Photoshop. I can tell you however that I am so happy that JTA has a diverse reading population. When I get store reports like this, it helps solidify that I am one of the more normal collectors out there. (I jest only, Matthew.) JTA reader Matthew has come across an unbelievable find: A dozen (12) The Rise Of Boba Fett Ultimate Battle Packs (TRU exclusive) for 75% off and he bought them all. Click through for the proof because you won't believe it otherwise! The moral of the story here? See if you can find this awesome set because this price is just off the hook!

Hallmark reaches out to JTA to spread news of a cool item. In honor of the 40th Anniversary of Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, Hallmark is presenting Christmas Tree Tidbits, which include a variety of facts and stats about the beloved tradition of decorating Christmas trees. One of the graphics features Yoda and Star Wars themed Keepsake Ornaments (see below). We know that Star Wars fans are passionate all year-round, including the holiday season. The First The Black Series 6-inch Carry-Forward Figure Revealed

Posted by Paul | November 27, 2013 at 05:37 PM ET |

Uh-oh, Houston, we have a carry-forward already in The Black Series line and it could start up all of the problems. It's now evident that the Episode III Anakin Skywalker 6" TBS figure first revealed at Hasbro's Preview Party will NOT be coming in The Black Series 6" wave 3 case assortment. This has me worried a little. They were doing so good, and Han Solo is a great figure, but not necessary to carry-forward. (Why isn't Boba Fett the carry-forward character here.... if they had to do a carry-forward at all?)

Stage Stores: They Have Award Winning Worthy Packing Methods

Posted by Paul | November 27, 2013 at 09:09 AM ET |

Man, Amazon.com should take packing lessons from Stage Stores. After I eagerly placed my order for the Naboo Starfighter and company, I honestly was a bit concerned how they would arrive to my doorstep. My Fed Ex man wasn't so swift and left my box in the rain yesterday (and at my back door that I never check), so when I found it this morning by chance, the box nearly disintegrated in my hands when I picked it up. Thankfully, the insulated packaging from Stage Stores saved my boxes. Check it out!!

Review: Mace Windu (Arena Confrontation) - SW [S - P2] - '03 #02

There is something perversely intriguing about Mace Windu (Arena Confrontation). You just have to "pretend" he isn't an action figure to appreciate it. What The 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper Should Look Like

Posted by Paul | November 17, 2013 at 01:40 PM ET |

JTA reader and friend Josh M. sends us a little eye candy on what the 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper from The Black Series should look like. Hasbro claims to know about this error and that it's in motion to be corrected (and rumors have abounded since the prototype was shown off at Celebration Europe), but we can attest that it has still not been corrected in wave 3 of The Black Series line, unless they plan to do a running revision at some point. We're clinging to hope that this figure stays in circulation long enough to be fully corrected, but our hope is slowly growing dim. In the meantime, please click through for a better idea on how this character should look utilizing this sculpt.

Review: Chewbacca (Mynock Hunt) - SW [S - P2] - '03 #14

Posted by Paul | November 16, 2013 at 08:06 AM ET |

We received some interesting scene-specific action figures in the Star Wars "Saga" line. Chewbacca (Mynock Hunt) is a good example of this and was quite a few steps up from the one we received in 1998. Sadly, he wasn't articulated enough for discriminating collectors. See the details of this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Review: Mace Windu - TBS - #19

Posted by Paul | November 15, 2013 at 09:22 AM ET |

The realistic version of Mace Windu from The Clone Wars is getting some nasty feedback, but that's maybe because people don't realize the amazing enhancements made to the VC35 sculpt! Review: Merumeru - TBS - #15

Posted by Paul | November 13, 2013 at 06:59 AM ET |

Do you believe eight years have passed since our last Revenge Of The Sith Wookiee was released in the basic figure line? The long-rumored Merumeru is now part of The Black Series and it's a truly excellent release. Not all feel the likeness is spot on, but there is little to hold against it as far as the sculpt is concerned. He sadly doesn't have a waist joint, but you may also be able to forgive that omitted detail also. It's all in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Will you seek an audience with the dark side or the light side here when it comes to this amazing new action figure? Partly sourced from Revenge Of The Sith and partly sourced from The Clone Wars concept art, Clone Commander Neyo is the surprise hit of wave 3, new tooling and all! Review: Darth Plagueis - TBS - #18

Posted by Paul | November 11, 2013 at 08:09 AM ET |

You saw the early reveal, now it's time for the mini-marathon! He was first mentioned in Revenge Of The Sith as Darth Plagueis The Wise, now he has been realized in the basic figure line as simply Darth Plagueis in The Black Series. A well-made action figure, our stomachs sank a little bit when we noticed that a couple of figures in wave 3 come without waist joints. (Remember what happened became of The Clone Wars line once Hasbro began whittling away articulation?) You may not “get” this action figure, but he is excellently manufactured and looks pretty cool and cranky. It's all in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! A New Outlook For The Black Series 3.75" Line?

Posted by Paul | November 05, 2013 at 11:36 AM ET |

Last month, Jedi Temple Archives brought you the very first look at the production figures from the third wave of The Black Series. You may also remember that we broke the news that they were coming to this fine collection of figure months before in early June which was visually confirmed by our friends at JediNews.co.uk at Celebration Europe. Now we want to know what you feel about The Black Series and if your opinion of it is changing. The quality of character selection is seemingly improving. The all-new sculpts look dynamite. And the new rumors of what may be coming are looking even more splendid and promising. Is there a new hope for the outlook of this line? Will it eventually be up to snuff with what The Vintage Collection has provided, save for that awesome packaging? Let us know your thoughts in our comments!

Review: Black Squadron TIE Pilot - LC [2] - Droid Factory (Amazon)

Posted by Paul | November 03, 2013 at 12:45 AM ET |

This one is "new enough to make you mad" but it may not be screen accurate. Can you illuminate anything more for us when it comes to Black Squadron TIE Pilot that we don't know but you do? It's the same old 2009 sculpt and we are tired as it looks. Still, the vintage Kenner inspired extra blaster he comes with is pretty darn cool! Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today. Be sure to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Apologizing To Plastic - Clarity Comes Over Time Sometimes

Posted by Paul | November 02, 2013 at 08:57 PM ET |

This is a completely random post, but it's a necessary one. If there is one figure I could apologize to, it would be this one. That of course sounds silly, but I gave this figure one of the nastiest reviews of all time. And now I don't feel the way I originally did.... at all. Sadly, I have been meaning for over three years to update his gallery and review in our RDRs, but just found the time today to do all of that. I need to let it be known that I was so wrong about this figure in 2010 and that it's turned out to be one of my most favorites in the entire The Vintage Collection line. If you're interested, please visit the all-new gallery and review on this modern classic action figure!

The Release Of Episode VII Is Dependent Upon.... Hasbro?

Posted by Paul | November 02, 2013 at 04:29 PM ET |

Poor Hasbro. They may get caught in the middle of the "war" between Lucasfilm Ltd. and Disney on the issue of pushing out Episode VII to a later date. Or you can look at it as Disney is protecting the merchandising of the film more than the film itself. Either way, things that really shouldn't be affecting the film's progress are.
