We're tired of clones from Sideshow Collectibles, but the Wolfpack Clone Trooper (104th) is actually quite nice. And he isn't a generic clone either. He is Sinker from Season 4 of The Clone Wars. We are beginning the process of updating our Vintage Visual Guides with carded images in our quest to put together the most comprehensive online guide to the varying card backs. We won't just be trolling the web to find images to fill this out (like some other guides and reports have done), but will be providing genuine verified samples for our archives! We put out the call and our readers answered! New JTA contributor George Telesco is working with us to kick-start this campaign in a big way! We will have MANY updates in the coming months and we start with the most iconic card backs in the history of Star Wars collecting: The 12-backs! Click through for a look at our updated guides featuring the first twelve carded figures to grace store shelves a long time ago...

It's review 2014 so it's time to start reviewing figures from the Rebels line! It's also Thanksgiving and we're thankful that we have new products to reveal as well! Let's start off with C1-10P ("Chopper"). This character is already getting flack in the show, and the action figure feels more like a Happy Meal toy than a real action figure. But we think this droid doesn't look half as bad as everyone is saying. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today. If 2012 was all about too much of the same product, then 2013 was all about too little. The Star Wars [Yoda/Attack Of The Clones] line was essentially a miscarriage, but some good stuff did manage to escape out, everywhere except the USA that is. Check out the Battle Droid (with cool exploding feature) from the failed Movie Heroes line. It's actually pretty cool. See it in our Research Droids Reviews today. By 2011, Hasbro went through what collectors considered a clueless phase when it came to managing the Saga Legends line. Collectors begged them to use it as a sub-line to repack some hard-to-find figures along with keeping the core main characters available at retail in an evergreen fashion. They instead chose some of the oddest action figures to repack in this line however. Of course Boba Fett should seem like a great choice, but they released an inferior sculpt over some of the better updated versions and released a slight repaint of The Saga Collection figure. Boba Fett is "different enough to make you mad" and he can even "sit in a vehicle". But see why this figure is an easy pass despite a few benefits. It's all in our Research Droids Reviews today. Back on November 3rd, we published a RUMOR report that Rebels figures could/might be delayed until the end of January. We received this info from reliable sources, including a major distributor. However, the feedback we got from those that (1) didn't read the word "rumor" as well as see the question mark in our post and (2) misrepresented what our report ACTUALLY said, was filled with vitriole. (more....)

The year 2010 brought us some of the greatest The Clone Wars figures, and it also brought us some of the greatest repacks as well. The slightly repainted Jar Jar Binks was a figure collectors were desperate to see re-released again and it finally happened in The Clone Wars [Shadow Of The Dark Side] lineup. We're still plugging through the years celebrating the long-running Hasbro Star Wars action figure history and we've reached review 2,010. Because we have nothing new to review in The Vintage Collection, we're choosing an item from the other concurrent line of the same year. See more in our Research Droids Reviews today. We know controversy exists with The Black Series , but we're not going to go into that again here. We have posted this article however to report a "buyer beware" warning to you. You know the recent developments of this figure. A new ball-socket head joint has been tooled to remedy the issue that some/many of these figures where the head just won't stay on the body. But we picked up TWO (2) the so-called confirmed 42161 date-stamped Darth Vader figure and they did not have the upgraded joint. The good news? The head (on this sample too) stays on fine with the shorter geodesic shape allowing for a wide-range of motion. Maybe it doesn't stay on as well as the larger ball-socket joint, but it STAYS on, save for any violent flicking of a finger. We shook it, we turned it and we posed the figure and the head stays on just fine. Our original (orange-carded) sample didn't have the falling-off-if-you-look at it wrong issue either. We have never discounted reports of this issue ever, but at this point it may be a crap-shoot whether or not you'll experience this issue for never or forever. Hopefully new date-stamped figures beyond 42161 will be more consistent with the fix. Click the image below for a larger view.

As wonderful as it is to reflect back on the modern Hasbro Star Wars line since its inception in 1995, there was one period of time that had changed our collecting minds forever. It's now time to "FlashBack" to an era we wish we all could return to because it was the greatest collection of figures Hasbro had ever put together for us. Because of this collection, the collecting community had never been happier, nor more invested in what Hasbro was doing at the time. It had its bumps and bruises, but overall was a success. And it brought back people who stopped collecting years earlier. Hasbro says they'd love to return to it one day, but very few of us are patient enough to wait to see if this comes to pass. So we will show our love and support for the greatest Star Wars basic figure line ever created by revisiting it one by one in our FlashBack Reviews. We knew you were waiting for this and now is the time. And we've made you wait long enough. The first FlashBack Review in this collection starts today!

The reports of "taped" and "not taped' The Black Series [Phase II] store reports are all over the map. We received some of the earliest production figures out of China and none of ours had tape attached. Then I found some at TARGET that had tape. Now JTA reader Hunk of Junk found "without tape" figures at TRU. So it looks like this is hit or miss and who knows why we're even still having these troubles after Bubblegate.

Our friends at Yakface.com are reporting that a neck peg sculpt running change for Darth Vader (#26) has been found under the new The Black Series line look change with the Darth Vader (#03) figure. If your #26 figure had head/neck issues, you're in luck because the peg has been made larger to keep the head on better. It's good to know that there is finally complete resolution for all with the greatest Darth Vader figure Hasbro has ever produced.

But they're for the children, right? Guess what isn't selling in my area at all, despite a $47 promotional price and plenty of shelf space being taken up? If you think exclusives like these are good for the hobby at that their eventual sell through can only mean greater exclusives in the future, well, you're wrong. These won't sell at this price and we're not sure how they will sell at 75% off quite honestly. When we never get a collector-focused exclusive again, be sure to track back exclusive history to this piece. It may be the end all reason TARGET just hangs up their Star Wars exclusive program. They have single=packed shampoo bottles that they can't give away for $4.99. Why in the world would the buyer of TARGET take on a five pack of them? Good luck TARGET!

Entertainment Earth is beginning to finally ship out wave wave 6 of The Black Series 3.75" line. If you still are on the fence about them, don't forget we have them already reviewed and photographed for you from our early advanced look at them back in September. Check them out! While not the most exciting wave, it does give us a never before released character and a controversial update to a popular version of Luke. The Black Series six inch Sandtrooper corporal is the latest figure from this wave to drop to normal, non-third party pricing on Amazon ($22.99). Darth Vader was also there earlier today, but quickly sold out and went back to higher priced third party sellers. Keep checking as these continue to fluctuate in price. And, these are showing up with more and more frequency at local brick-and-mortar stores, so if you are searching on foot then keep looking!

We have just learned from JTA sponsor Big Bad Toy Store (indirectly) and other inside sources that Hasbro has delayed Star Wars: Rebels figures to them until first quarter 2015. Click through to see what we know. Keep this rumor in check as we don't know who this affects exactly (whether just online shops or brick and mortar) and as with any news like this, it can change on a dime (it likely will....) Also, keep in mind this rumor applies to USA markets as these figures have gotten out almost everywhere else to date. It's unknown if this delay is a directive from Hasbro (as in physically changing the date or not, or just happenstance because of how awry distribution has gone over the years. As we learn more we will fill you in as well. But it's been made quite clear that most of us won't see some Rebels figures until next year.

We have another unbelievable store report and if you live in the mid-south you really need to pay attention. It seems as if leftover The Vintage Collection figures are making their way to a discount chain called Bargain Hunt (right now they are only in IN, KY, TN, MS, AL and GA). This particular report comes from Knoxville, TN. But JTA reader John W. has a little more info for you, so click through for more. (And by the way, don't get too excited. You'll see what we mean in a moment.) According to John's report, these stores pick up returns from TARGET. How "funny" would it be if this is where all those figures ended up? Anyway, if you have a location near you, good luck and let us know what you find!
Update: Lexington, KY location has the same deal. Details after the jump! If you find similar deals/locations please post them in our comments!
