Every now and again, Hasbro chooses some weird characters from Expanded Universe sources. And what makes things even more bizarre is when these characters don't have a visual reference and we have to take Hasbro's word. Research Droids Reviews looks at a Build A Droid that fits this bill. We have found two new Battle Packs today at Toys R Us. They have reset the front of their stores and added some new product. Gone is GI Joe and in its place, Season 2 of The Clone Wars! Available in fair quantity were both Ambush On The Vulture's Claw and Geonosis Assault. What is interesting about the latter is that is labeled as part of The Clone Wars collection and not The Legacy Collection (based on Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones). Per Hasbro, only the animated figures would be branded with The Clone Wars logos, so this is clearly an error on their part. Otherwise, this set would have included two Oddball action figures. (We are sticking this set in the The Legacy Collection.) Click through to check out boxed photos of both! If you see this in the wild, pick it up! We've been told multiple times that it won't be around for long!

The AT-AT Driver mini bust has come and gone and has since been nearly impossible to locate. (And distributor warehouses have run dry of this product as well.) With a limited run of only 2500 pieces made, it is clear that Gentle Giant, Ltd. is significantly scaling back on production numbers. We have even heard that the upcoming mini busts are averaging as low as 1000 pieces each. It is a good time to reassess where you stand as a collector of Gentle Giant, Ltd. products, in order to get these marvelous collectibles into your home. We may need to return to the days of pre-ordering everything just to assure the opportunity to even purchase them! Keep checking back here as we will be keeping watch for these to see if they become more readily available again. And let us know if you find them in stock! Click through to check out this cool bust!

Our Admiral Piett (Imperial Officer: Executor) Sideshow Collectibles 12" figure was at our doorsteps when we got home from work today so for your viewing pleasure, we have snapped some quick shots for you to peruse. We were very surprised to find out that his uniform (fabric and plastic cap) has been changed to an army green (when all other photos have shown it a gray) color. We need to do more research to see how accurate this is, but while we do, check out the brand new photos and click through. We believe his likeness will impress you as much as it did us too.

We thank our secret sources who have given us the opportunity to get our hands on a variant TIE Fighter Pilot mini bust from Gentle Giant, Ltd. In the meantime, click through and check out some cool photos of this impressive piece!

Commander Ponds is now available at Toys R Us - this is their exclusive figure for 2009! The figure retails for $9.99 at the moment, but we can all probably expect a FREE promotion to start soon (maybe as soon as this Sunday) for him. He has a pretty cool paint job, but unfortunately is snow white! Click through to check it out!

If you haven't visited my personal collection at www.jedimaster.be, you might want to consider doing that now. The collection has been updated with numerous new autographs in the last few weeks. The items were obtained at both the London Film and Comic Con, San Diego Comic Con and through private signings. I now have 870 different names and am aiming for 1000, so only 130 left to go! Also, check out the poster section, where I have just put up two new posters, including a Clone Wars poster signed by 12. Mesa proud! |

We are serving up another figure for critique in today's Research Droids Reviews and the focus is on a Mandalorian. Is this Boba Fett's best rival? We have just found the [next] newest wave of Deluxe figures in the refreshed The Clone Wars line look! Finds yesterday and today include 212th Battalion Clone Troopers And Backpacks in addition to Turbo Tank Support Squad. We are not exactly sure why Hasbro didn't just double the number of troopers in each of these sets and release another clone trooper filled Battle Packs set for $23.99 instead of two for only $15.99. Such is life. Collectors will be interested to know that although the battle-damage wash has NOT returned, Hasbro is opting for a more eggshell like color and it does wonders for the figures! When the Expanded Universe tries extra hard to be seamless to the films, it makes that storyline that much more exciting. Today's Research Droids Reviews looks at a set of two figures from a great comic that worked very hard to tie itself into the films. Some WAL*MART stores have begun clearancing out their stock of Battle Packs, which is a bit confusing since there are a few more coming down the pike. But is may be worth your while to check out the stores and see if you can get the Jabba's Palace or Scramble On Yavin sets for a lower price! Also of note, older sets have been showing up at some WAL*MART locations including Clone Attack On Coruscant and Jedi Training On Dagobah and these were on clearance as well. These have shipped in much less quantity and have been harder to find.

Make it a point to check out your local TARGET stores. Found today were many new products including the newest wave of Saga Legends (Luke X-wing, C-3PO, Han Solo (POTJ Bespin), and Chewbacca (Mynock Hunt), newest wave of Galactic Heroes (Echo and IG-86, new Kit Fisto & new Grievous, etc.), Transformers Crossovers, role-play, and a new The Clone Wars inspired large size remote control R2-D2!! Additionally, the massive Clone Turbo Tank ($99.99) and repainted ARC-170 ($64.99) were also in plentiful supply!

The main Rebel hero of the Star Wars saga is the center of attention in today's Research Droids Reviews although with this take, he was trying to blend in with the Empire's finest soldiers. The next new wave Saga Legends figures have been found at both TARGET and Toys R Us this morning in Philadelphia. The bad news? Chewbacca may just be a figure you might want to pick up. He is based off of his appearance from The Empire Strikes Back Mynock Hunt scene and comes with a breath mask making him a "sort of" new figure. Additionally, his coloring looks a tad different too, but we will have to check our other samples before we confirm this. Han Solo looks like he belongs in a VH-1 "I Love The 2000's" episode and why this version of him was released in 2009 is beyond our comprehension. He looks nearly identical to the original. Both Plo Koon and Shock Trooper are straight repacks of the figures we've seen many times before. Click through to see the new photos!

Although we are now getting gypped with the inclusion of only four figures instead of five in their very popular Battle Packs sets, the one looked at in today's Research Droids Reviews almost makes you forget about this terribly flagrant act by Hasbro. Don't forget you can also e-mail us your review requests and we'll be sure to add your choice to the queue.
