Fan's Choice winners are curious aren't they? Research Droids Reviews looks at a so-called Fans' Choice winner that really wasn't a winner at all, except maybe in the hearts of Knight Of The Old Republic fans! Darth Revan is pretty cool, but he isn't perfect. So find out how he stacks up! Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: Boba Fett (Prototype Ver.) - Vinyl Collectible Dolls

Posted by Paul | August 31, 2010 at 12:35 AM ET |

2010 is shaping up to be the year of Boba Fett, isn't it? And Research Droids Reviews isn't done taking the focus off of him yet either. The VCD line is definitely a unique, but nonetheless cool line of collectibles. Be sure to check out a version of Boba Fett that hasn't seen much billing as a Star Wars collectible except as a VCD. Kmart Clearancing Clearance An Additional 30%

Posted by Paul | August 29, 2010 at 01:04 PM ET |

For those of you needing to catch up on a few Star Wars items in the "red" line look (and even some in the "blue" line look), Kmart is taking an additional 30% off of all their clearance toys and from what we've witnessed, they have quite a bit of product left over. For example, we found the Y-wing Bomber for $36.40 and the Clone Trooper Squad (Kmart exclusive) for $13.30 among many other items. Good luck on your searches!

Review: Anakin Skywalker - TAC - No. 33

Posted by Paul | August 29, 2010 at 12:02 AM ET |

One of Research Droids Reviews unofficial goals is to spread the gospel of Tartakovsky's brilliant interpretation of the extremely canonical Clone Wars, a series that Lucasfilm seems to want to sweep under their carpet sadly. But that won't stop us from proselytizing until we're done hitting all the cool characters from it. Luke wasn't the only one to experience failure at a cave. Like his father before him, Anakin Skywalker too saw a terrible vision of his possible future, except his came to pass. Often erroneously billed as "Tattooed Anakin", the blue marks on his body when on Nelvann are actually "geometric hickeys" and not dye on his body. Review: Yoda & Kybuck - TAC - No. 32

Posted by Paul | August 28, 2010 at 05:38 AM ET |

One of Research Droids Reviews unofficial goals is to spread the gospel of Tartakovsky's brilliant interpretation of the extremely canonical Clone Wars, a series that Lucasfilm seems to want to sweep under their carpet sadly. But that won't stop us from proselytizing until we're done hitting all the cool characters from it. Yoda and his gift from the Wookies, the kybuck, made their debut in the very first chapter of the Clone Wars and became one of Hasbro's most successful accomplishments in the basic figure line. Posted by Paul | August 27, 2010 at 11:48 AM ET |

JTA found the Legacy Of The Dark Side TRU exclusive two-packs at our local stores in Philadelphia. Hasbro, is this really happneing? Are you really trying to reinvent the Evolutions wheel again? If you are, try making something new first unless you want a repeat performance please. And we haven't even mentioned the worst part yet: they retail for $17.99. Two figures for $17.99? The Evolutions were $19.99 and we got THREE figures, Hasbro! The Grievous set will undoubtedly be the most popular of them all for obvious reasons. Jabba's Throne: Spotty But Consistent Finds

Posted by Paul | August 25, 2010 at 08:21 AM ET |

The Walmart exclusive Jabba's Throne has been making return appearances at retail on the East Coast. It has been a little bit of a burden to find at retail and with a shelf space allotment of 2-3 pieces at most retail locations, we suspect the sell through will be stronger than previous exclusives. We recommend not waiting if you see this piece. We are more confident than ever that Hasbro has learned their lesson on over-produced exclusives so this may be a slightly limited run. Of course we could be very wrong here, but why risk it? If you still haven't found one and are looking to learn more about it, be sure to catch our very popular Research Droids Review on it HERE.

TVC Wave 2 Found At Retail In Phillipines! Great Paint Jobs!

Posted by Paul | August 16, 2010 at 06:34 PM ET |

JTA reader Bryan German from the Phillipines sends in his latest find: wave 2 of The Vintage Collection. Bryan (aka the game) sends in close-ups of the figures in the bubbles. You've seen these before, but the close proximity of his shots make a few more details clearer and these are samples FOUND AT RETAIL and not Hasbro's mock-ups. The good news is that this sample of Cody also has the belt corrected! (Thanks Hasbro!) Also of note are the fabulous paint jobs on Anakin Skywalker's and Darth Sidious' faces and the overall paint application on the MagnaGuard. Great stuff indeed! Posted by Paul | August 16, 2010 at 12:35 AM ET |

Sometimes Hasbro comes up with some very clever and meaningful exclusives that are timed perfectly to celebrate some landmark in our collections. One of these exclusives was a mail-away in the Legacy Collection which was directly aimed at celebrating 10 years of The Phantom Menace. Research Droids Reviews looks at the Qui-Gon Jinn And Eopie set that not only exceeded Hasbro's expectations, but is also extremely improved in paint job and pack-in figure which exceeded collectors expectations as well. Packaging Trivia You Probably Don't Care About

Posted by Paul | August 14, 2010 at 10:41 AM ET |

The Legacy Collection will indeed be making a return, albeit brief, appearance in October of this year in the form of the Geonosis Arena Showdown sets. JTA learned from Hasbro that it was a specific request from TARGET to keep the sets all uniform so that the 12 of them could form a complete circle while looking all the same. Hm, we never expected TARGET to be so specific about their exclusives' packaging!

Walmart Imitates TRU And Follows Its Own Destiny Too

Posted by Paul | August 09, 2010 at 08:26 AM ET |

The new product is finally hitting Walmart stores. But it appears that Walmart has also decided to imitate Toys R Us and follow their own destiny by setting the price point for The Clone Wars line at $7.96. TRU's TVC at $9.99 is just simply a crime and now we are worried that other retail outlets will follow suit. Thankfully (for now), The Vintage Collection is also set at $7.96 (knock on wood) at Walmart, but why can't retail in general follow Hasbro's recommended MSRP on all of the Star Wars product lines? Hasbro recommended $6.99 for Saga Legends and The Clone Wars and $7.99 for The Vintage Collection and the only retailer acting like a golden child and "obeying" is TARGET. Let us know what you're experiencing in your area too.
