New Stuff Reaches Far East, Like The Jersey Shore

Posted by Paul | July 30, 2013 at 09:46 PM ET |

It's a shame that trash like Snookie and The Situation adulterated what was once the beautiful association to what the Jersey Shore actually is, a place where I grew up during the summers in my youth. But the good news is that new Star Wars product is hopefully bringing back the shore in a more positive light. Yeah, I don't know where I am going with this either. Bottom line: Jub Goobles writes in to let us know that the Mission Series is now hitting the East Coat, all the way East to the Jersey Shore. Click through for his report.

Review: Anakin Skywalker - CW - ’03 #42

Posted by Paul | July 30, 2013 at 05:38 AM ET |

The Anakin Skywalker figure from the Clone Wars line is a unique take on the Padawan. He comes with some pilot gear as well as some battling gear, but the articulation isn't the best. See this figure in our Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. BanthaSkull.com Resurrects Unproduced Figure Feature!

Posted by Paul | July 28, 2013 at 09:42 PM ET |

Our good friends at BanthaSkull.com have begun a front page feature entitled Missing In Action Figure. Cute, right? But the importance of this feature is to elicit your illicit feedback about what action figures you desperately want to see Hasbro make for you. (Your feedback isn't illicit; I just have been wanting to use the homonym pair for a while now....) Please take a moment and add your own two cents because every voice counts by leaving your thoughts in their comments. Plus it's fun! Right now they're focusing on the awesome skiff guards! The Black Series Wave 3 Case Assortment Revealed!

Posted by Paul | July 27, 2013 at 04:00 PM ET |

StarWarsFiguren.com also reveals the wave 3 case assortment for The Black Series 3.75" line. Click through to see why we still have great concerns with the case ratios. It seems as if Hasbro has not learned a thing from the 2012 bottle-necking debacle. Perhaps they're relying on the fact that these are diverse case assortments, but I personally don't feel that Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Clone Pilot need to hog up case space at wave 3. We're sliding down a slippery slope. Hasbro, maybe hold off until you have 12 all-new figures to put in a case. Or double up on new figures exclusive to that case assortment. You really have to think opposite of 2012 at this point, Hasbro. Also, even though he wasn't visually revealed at CE yet, our BREAKING NEWS report that revealed Merumeru is also in this particular case assortment too! Click through for case assortment specifics.

Battle Of Geonosis: Jedi Knights Multipacks Revealed!

Posted by Paul | July 27, 2013 at 03:30 PM ET |

Our friends at StarWarsFiguren.com reveal two unannounced gorgeous multipacks entitled Battle Of Geonosis: Jedi Knights. These sets truly look fantastic and solidify a fact we revealed in our Toy Fair Q&A with Hasbro when Derryl DePriest told JTA that something similar to the TARGET exclusive Geonosis Arena Showdown sets would be coming to collectors once again. What's most surprising however is that these aren't packaged in The Black Series line look. Coming with SIX (6) never-before-released Jedi Knights from the Battle of Geonosis, there is no way these multipacks were developed for younger collectors. Click through to see larger images of these awesome new general release items! Also, CLICK HERE to see our original reveal of these sets from our Toy Fair 2013 coverage.

Review: Kit Fisto - CW - ’03 #49

Posted by Paul | July 27, 2013 at 08:06 AM ET |

Hasbro gave us realistic versions of characters from Tartakovsky's Clone Wars micro-series before the animated versions. Kit Fisto is one such example. Plus, it gave us a version of the Nautolan Jedi Master we probably never expected to see. It's all in our Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! Review: Durge (Commander Of The Separatist Forces) - CW - '03 #46

Posted by Paul | July 26, 2013 at 06:16 AM ET |

The original Clone Wars line introduced us to Durge (Commander Of The Separatist Forces) who is a very interesting bounty hunter on a mission to destroy all clones. The action figure looks cool, but it's far from perfect. See him in our Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

Review: Yoda - CW - '03 #44

Posted by Paul | July 25, 2013 at 06:02 AM ET |

Yoda from the original Clone Wars line is an admirable effort. There is very little articulation here, but his accessory and sculpt are the highlights. See this figure in great detail in our Research Droids Reviews today. Jedi Temple Archives is thrilled to present our latest Special Report entitled A Digested Look at The Vintage Collection. It not only brings together your favorite fan sites in an intense discussion on this fan-favorite collection of awesome action figures, but also includes members of the Hasbro Star Wars team as our honored special guests. This year's report is truly unique and we even have a special gift or two for you as well. The Vintage Collection will undoubtedly go down in history as Hasbro's finest effort and until it returns, there are going to remain disappointed collectors. But let's put the disappointment and our criticism of its hiatus aside for the moment. Instead, let's take in a wonderful retrospective of an action figure line that was as nostalgic as it was exciting. We hope you enjoy what you find here.

Well, they're completely SOLD OUT at Comic Con so for right now the only way you can get the Boba Fett And Han Solo In Carbonite The Black Series 6" set is on the aftermarket. Reminder: The Black Series on Amazon.com with Free Shipping

Posted by Chuck | July 06, 2013 at 11:45 AM ET |

Just a reminder that The Black Series figures are showing up for pre-order on Amazon.com, many of them setting an August 1 release date. Hopefully these will be easy enough to pick up at retail when they first hit, but if you want some security and backup make sure you check them out, many with free shipping over $25.

J.J. Abrams

He was originally the rarest Star Wars "Saga" figure to find at retail. He caused an initial panic, but then showed up in droves for $2.99 at Kay-Bee Toys. Then Ephant Mon (Jabba's Head Of Security) disappeared once again and even today goes for more than his original MSRP. (Spoiler: he is worth it.) Hasbro has uttered these exact words "we lost our shirt on this figure" and it makes sense why this is true. All of these details and more await you in our Research Droids Reviews today. Feel free to leave your own thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or even leave comments about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your own personal review requests via email if you'd like to see something that we didn't cover yet.

JTA is thrilled to welcome Chris Swanski from BanthaSkull.com in the capacity of a guest essayist. He asked if he could share his concerns he has about The Black Series with our readers with a completely analytical overview of why it has an unfair disadvantage at retail among other things. Agree or disagree, be sure to let him know in our comments. We honestly couldn't wait to take him up on his offer. Please read his brilliantly written exposition by clicking through.

This Is Not Happening!

Posted by Paul | July 01, 2013 at 06:34 PM ET |

Yeah, it's time for another one. I have been waiting weeks to do cartwheels in the hallway at work when the Slave I and TIE Interceptor from The Vintage Collection would go up for pre-order. The will of the Force deemed that to be today. But instead of cartwheels I had to say a prayer to maintain composure and not take my chagrin out on co-workers when I saw the MSRPs. In fact, I almost pulled a Dana Scully at the end of the season 8 episode 14 of The X-Files. (more....)
