Let the Sales Begin!

Posted by Pete | October 31, 2004 at 04:33 PM ET |

Halloween is over (almost), so that means that retail is starting to try to get you in the spirit of things for holidays that arrive about 2 months from now. This week, K-Mart has a 1-day sale this Friday on OTC Basic Figures and Galactic Heroes for just $3.26 each! You can also pick up any LEGO system at the Big K for 15% off regular price!
If that is not enough for you, head on over to Target between today and November 20 to pick up either a Slave I for $29.99 or the Millennium Falcon (with 2 actions figures included?...this could be a misprint) for just $44.88
And it is holiday season over at Toys R Us as well...spend just $19.99 and come away with a free Silver Darth Vader either in store or on-line! To top it off, on-line orders greater than $49 qualify for free shipping! Happy hunting!

Hasbro Comes Through

Posted by Pete | October 31, 2004 at 04:32 PM ET |

Well, as most of you know by now, Hasbro told us earlier this week in their Q & A Session that a small amount of the OTC Slave I Boba Fett's were packed without his jet-pack missile. I was wondering what would happen to all of us (including me) who bought and opened the package that was missing the part, so I wrote to Hasbro through their Customer Service Department. Low and behold, in less than 24 hours I got an e-mail back telling me that they will send out the replacement part to me! So, if you are one of the few who are in the same boat, drop them a line and they will be sure to help you out too!

Echo Base Arrival and Always Welding

Posted by Pete | October 31, 2004 at 04:32 PM ET |

Echo Base Arrival - Han on his Tauntaun reaches the main entrance to Echo Base as dusk looms in the horizon. The main hangar of the rebel base is in a flurry of activity as the various airships are going through maintenance checks. The Millenium Falcon is also undergoing much needed repairs to get its hyperdrive into full gear.

Always Welding - "Do you know why I had Chewbacca work with a welding torch on the Falcon? That was the only thing I could find where you could see what he was doing. If he was screwing something with a tool, you wouldn't see anything. So whenever anything needs fixing, you'll notice the characters are welding!" - Irvin Kershner (Director)

    Hasbro Q & A

    Posted by Pete | October 26, 2004 at 04:23 PM ET |

Hasbro has come up with some more answers to some of our burning questions:
  • The Rabé that has been listed on some 2005 cardbacks was an error and has since been corrected.
  • The missing on Boba Fett's jetpack missile on the recently released OTC Slave I was another error that effected only a handful of vehicles and Hasbro has since added the jet-pack missle to the vast majority of the sets.

News From The European Star Wars Scene

    Posted by Pete | October 22, 2004 at 04:17 PM ET |

The crew from BeJedi.com has successfully coped with the sci-fi overdose they received during the FACTS convention, and now are back to continue the fun in full Force! Several news items they would like to pass on:

"First off, BeJedi.com is now two years old! Yes, indeed, we're now the Internet equivalent of a toddler that can crawl and even mutter a few words. While the crew is reviewing last year's performance to make the site even better, our visitors get inundated with give-aways. If you didn't visit before, now would be a good time to visit the site and get involved. If everything goes right, we continue the give-away frenzy for a little while, so make sure you visit us regularly to check what's new.
Second, we will be covering the FACTS convention just as we promised: the gallery is already updated with more than 170 pictures and later on you can expect review articles from the crew and the much-discussed interviews (on film!) with most of the Star Wars guests who attended the show.
Last but not least, we're also happy to open two new initiatives on the site: the new Star Wars Species section is likely to become your favourite resource when you need information on any of the alien species in Star Wars. We opened the section with 10 profiles but more will be added soon. As the Star Wars minis game from Wizards of the Coast is drawing attention everywhere, the BeJedi.com crew felt it appropriate to open a special forum section to follow up on the game (http://forum.bejedi.com/viewforum.php?f=72 and http://forum.bejedi.com/viewforum.php?f=71). Our newsreporter has a flair for scoops in this niche of fandom, so if you wanted to be kept up-to-date on this new game, BeJedi.com is the place to be."

    Star Wars Miniatures Updates

    Posted by Mike | October 22, 2004 at 04:16 PM ET |

As my partner in crime, and fellow staffer Chuck has said, I have been a major "slackmaster" this week. It seems I have missed a number of updates for the Star Wars Miniatures over at the Wizards Of The Coast Site.
First, there were 2 updates, both having to do with the same thing, the Ultimate Missions Book for Rebel Storm. WOTC posted 2 previews for the book, which will be available in November. The 2 missions are, Death Star Infiltration, and Rebel Storm's Probe Droid Pursuit.
The next update was another sneak preview of a mini from the next expansion set, "Clone Strike". This time the preview figure was of Captain Typho:

The final update I missed was from yesterday, Jedi Counseling 51 was posted, which centered on a Q&A for the Star Wars Minis Game, ranging from rules to actual game play. Make sure to check it out by clicking HERE.

Star Wars Miniatures Update: Rodian Mercenary

    Undressing Yoda

    Posted by Mike | October 10, 2004 at 02:03 PM ET |

JediTempleArchives.com reader Karen dropped us an email letting us know of some not so Jedi Like behavior going on at her local target.
It seems that the not so new practice of people swapping figures is still popular. However, what makes this one odd is that it is one of the Yoda VOTC figures, which means a little extra effort was needed to pull this one off. Karen came across this one at her local Target, sitting on the pegs. Unknowingly she bought the figure and took it home.
Luckily, before she opened the package, she realized that figure inside the blister was not the correct figure. Someone had bought the figure, removed the VOTC Version of Yoda, and replaced him with a Yoda from the SAGA line, then took it back to the store and got their Money back. The figure than ends up back on the shelves for someone else to grab. Luckily Karen noticed this before she opened it and was able to take it back to the store, and get her money back, as well as warn the store to watch out for this in the future.
Keep a sharp eye out for these, as the $10.00 price tag on the VOTC figures makes them a higher target for pieces of Bantha Poodoo to swap out. To check out this thieves handy work, click on the thumbnail below:

    ACPins Latest

    Posted by Mike | October 10, 2004 at 02:01 PM ET |

Diorama builder, ACpin, has made 2 more Hoth themed Lego Dioramas:

"Echo Base Entrance - The main entrance to Echo Base is zealously guarded by the rebel troopers. Rotating shifts of infantry scouts are sent on reconnaisance patrols to scout for any signs of Imperial activity within the active perimeter of the base. A tauntaun rider from afar has been sighted that approaches the guarded entrance."

"Bacta Tank - The containment cylinder fills with rejuvenating bacta fluid that is capable of healing even the most grievous wounds. Medical droids closely monitor the patient, who is suspended in the fluid. Luke Skywalker spent time in a bacta tank, recovering from exposure and dormo-shock suffered from spending a night in a Hoth blizzard."

Yesterday it was the good guys, today it we have the VOTC bad guys. The Stormtrooper and Boba Fett have been added to the Original Trilogy Collection Visual Guides. Both are fantastic figures and they each have loads of articulation, but, there is one thing to note...Boba Fett's jump suit color changed once again! Do you have an idea of which of the various jump suit colors is the right one? Tell us about it in the forums!

I Thought Her Name was Rabe?

    Posted by Pete | October 06, 2004 at 01:54 PM ET |

I was just looking through some of my "Post-OTC" figures and noticed this odd variant, or maybe error? On the back side of the card of the Queen Amidala, Rabe is pictured but "Dorme" is listed under the picture. Most of the Queen Amidala figures have Rabe listed, not Dorme. This may be an error by Hasbro, or a hint of a future variations. Great topic for the Jedi Temple War Room Forums!
