Please Be A Mean, Cruel Hoax?

Posted by Paul | August 31, 2011 at 06:18 AM ET |

More and more details are leaking out left and right about new changes made to the Star Wars films. We think it's getting a little out of control. (And thank goodness we just got a "pure" version of Wicket from Hasbro before Lucasfilm, Ltd. releases what is now seeming to be the Extra Special Edition of the classic Star Wars films. Our Wicket action figure could have had human eyeballs! Sigh.) (PARENTS: There is a ton of unnecessary foul language in the forum posts. You might want to keep the kids away and just show them the pictures and videos.) Link has been removed. There have been too many multiple offensive things posted and we felt it was better to delete the links at this point.

Review: Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter - TCW - Vehicles

Posted by Paul | August 31, 2011 at 12:15 AM ET |

We're all set now! First Plo Koon, his recently released astromech R7-D4 and now the corresponding Jedi Starfighter complete this trio of Jedi goodness. (And not necessarily in that order, either!) This spectacular vehicle is a lot of fun and Research Droids Reviews hopefully points out why you should pick up one for yourself! The Inconsistencies Of The Republic Scout Tank

Posted by Paul | August 30, 2011 at 06:31 PM ET |

In PA, the Republic Scout Tank still keeps showing up in clearance aisles for $4.24. And in some stores the bar code doesn't scan anything and says Item Not Found. Keep your eyes open for this item and you may just be able to score yourself a deal. Note that the clearance sticker identifies this item as an "Online Item" which is obviously erroneous. More on this story as it develops because there is something else happening with this item that we're not ready to report yet. Click through for more!

Toys R Us Resets For The Clone Wars Season 4!

Posted by Paul | August 30, 2011 at 06:21 PM ET |

If you haven't been to your local Toys R Us store locally, you may now notice that the front entrance of the store has been reset with displays and products from The Clone Wars. Rumor has it that new figures should be showing up in the next two weeks also. And expect a promotion to get the Stealth Operations Clone Trooper for free (most likely). Take this all with a grain of salt until you see them! (Wink, wink!) Click through to see more!

Review: Spacetrooper - Saga Legends - SL31

Posted by Paul | August 30, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

Ah, the rerelease of the Spacetrooper! Surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) it's better than the one that was released in the final wave of the Legacy Collection. If you're curious to find out how so, then check in with Research Droids Reviews and read all about it and see if you can distinguish that this is a review about the Spacetrooper and not Adam Pawlus. Research Droids Reviews

Wow! Unbelievably, famed eBay seller tunghori has gotten some incomplete units of the "now rare" Entertainment Earth exclusive Rav Bralor and Isabet Reau figures and have put them up for sale. Right now, they are only $7.99 each which is significantly lower than what they average on eBay, but keep in mind these figure come without accessories. So why don't you get them together at the same time for your collection? You know you want Boba Fett-ish Mandalorians with lady parts! Click either image below for a direct link to each auction!

We finally get Clone Pilot Warthog from his exciting appearance in Holocron Heist, but he comes packaged "Expanded Universally" in the Deluxe line. But don't be fooled, this is a great set! See why Research Droids Reviews couldn't have been happier to see just how much goodness packed into this Rapid Strike/Class 1/Deluxe figure with vehicle set! We're back from Hurricane Irene! Select Walmarts are marking down the LEGO Slave I down to $59.00 even. Bargain hunters may want to keep their eyes peeled for this deal! It will only go down further from this point. (Well, maybe. Walmart is kind a strange with their markdowns in general.)

Review: Clone Commander Jet - TCW - CW38

Posted by Paul | August 28, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

Here he comes to save the day! (Actually, he really is just saving collectors' sanity by finally getting released!) Clone Commander Jet (CW38) finally sees release after the line has milked out many other basic figures with higher numbers before him! See what Research Droids Reviews thinks about this delayed gem. Just like most clones from the Landing At Point Rain episode, he's oddly colored, but totally awesome! As a reward for checking out this review, we will return tomorrow morning with Hasbro's elusive Clone Commander Jet. Deal?

Review: R7-D4 - TCW - CW64

Posted by Paul | August 26, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

Plo Koon's astromech R7-D4 is the first droid to be done as a completely all-new sculpt, an animated BUild A Droid sculpt that is! We bet you didn't expect Hasbro to create an all-new astromech action figure mold did you, especially one that breaks apart into five (5) pieces, huh?? It's awesome, so be sure to check out today's Research Droids Reviews and see why it's a marked improvement! Review: [Best] Captain Rex [Ever!] - TCW - CW62

Posted by Paul | August 25, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

Best.... Captain Rex.... Ever! Hasbro redesigns Captain Rex from the ground up, terminates some articulation we normally like and instead includes the best clone portrait we have EVER seen and a whole bunch of other things to make you smile. This version may seem like "less" initially (things like ball-jointed wrists and ankles are sacrificed for wonderfully functioning ball-jointed hips), but the goodness doesn't end at the ball-jointed hips and phenomenal portrait. Check in with Research Droids Reviews today and see why you absolutely need this Captain Rex action figure. It is definitely the best one ou there right now! Scalpers Taking Revenge On Collectors?

Posted by Paul | August 24, 2011 at 12:43 PM ET |

A simple search of "Revenge Of The Jedi" on eBay will give you a plethora of results, but in the lot look for ridiculous examples of what sellers are trying to get for The Vintage Collection Mouse Droid and Salacious Crumb figures from the Revenge Of The Jedi Death Star II Comic Con exclusive. And they've broke up the set even further and are trying to sell the other included figures separately as well! It's unreal and this is proof why Hasbro needs to make this available again to those that want it. Click through to see the madness!

Review: Even Piell - TCW - CW58

Posted by Paul | August 24, 2011 at 12:00 AM ET |

We all witnessed Even Piell in action in ways perhaps most of us never expected. Not one to sit on the sidelines, Even Piell was packed full of drive, energy and punch and his antics in The Clone Wars were somewhat comical. Hasbro makes a stellar action figure of him in The Clone Wars line and Research Droids Reviews points out why this figure is basically perfect as is. We Feel Your Pain! Toys R Us Tries Again With The Y-wing Bomber!

Posted by Paul | August 21, 2011 at 02:20 PM ET |

It's so sad at this point that we are actually beginning to feel sorry for Toys R Us now. Proof that Hasbro shouldn't be scalping kids and collectors with an obscene price for a mid-size vehicle, the Y-wing Bomber is STILL mercilessly sitting at Toys R Us stores (in general) and they can't even give it away at half price. If you still need this item, it's available for $34.99 each this week. It still doesn't come close to the $12.50, $17.50 and $20.00 deals at Walmart, but it's still a whole heck of a lot less than the obscene $69.99. Interesting how they can sell the Republic Attack Shuttle for $79.99 or a BAT-AT for $99.99 now (2 years after this vehicle's release), isn't it!? Hasbro, we've always told you price is a major problem. Hopefully you'll keep this in check going forward! Click through to see how many THIS Toys R Us store had in stock!

Hopefully you still aren't jaded to make an effort to go hunt for your Star Wars figures, but we wanted to let you know that TARGET is still getting heavy shipments of wave 5 and wave 7 of The Vintage Collection. Just today we found about 3 full cases of each just hanging on the pegs for us to rummage through. We have NEVER seen wave 4 or 6 there yet (although we have heard and seen reports), but make sure you get off the couch and go see what you can find! The stuff is out there now folks!

Review: Star Wars: Republic Commando (Delta Squad) - TRU Exclusive

Posted by Paul | August 18, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

Hasbro was very poor at explaining exactly what their plans were for the Star Wars: Republic Commando (Delta Squad) Toys R Us exclusive. Was it a TRU Comic Con exclusive, was it a TRU online exclusive or is it a TRU brick and mortar exclusive? Actually, it's all of the above and it's finally hitting brick and mortar as we write this post! See why Research Droids Reviews thinks that the 2011 interpretation of the Republic Commandos figures reign supreme as definitive. These Expanded Universe figures may not have some of the wonderful paint jobs that the 2006 figures did, but these are figures that needed super-articulation first and foremost.... and now we have that! Review: Stealth Operations Clone Trooper - TRU Exclusive

Posted by Paul | August 17, 2011 at 05:42 AM ET |

We have to admit that we're a little too resistant to change, so when the Clone Commander Stone sculpt came around, we were like "what the heck?" But despite its awkward characteristics, there is no denying that it's a more accurate sculpt for the clone troopers seen in The Clone Wars television show and perhaps most importantly, Research Droids Reviews admits how great the Toys R Us exclusive Stealth Operations Clone Trooper looks with the Stone body! Toys R Us is running another 50% special on there overstock of "red" Legacy Collection and The Clone Wars Battle Packs as well as the Y-wing Bomber this week. But without thinking three steps ahead of themselves again, their signage doesn't clearly differentiate between the old product and the new product and people are benefitting from this and getting the brand new "Shadow Of The Dark Side" three-pack Battle Packs for 50% off as well. Logray (Ewok Medicine Man) (VC55) Variation!

Posted by Paul | August 14, 2011 at 02:48 PM ET |

You know, I should have reported this when I initially thought I saw the differences, but I suppose late is always better than never. I have found a "change" on the Logray (Ewok Medicine Man) (VC55) figure. When all is said and done, it's a small change (perhaps to the point of insignificant) and probably most of you won't even care, but Hasbro has definitely done a running change on this Ewok's face. Posted by Paul | August 06, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

The Battle Packs sets in the most recent wave have mostly been very surprising treats for collectors. The sets were a lot more "repaint and rework" than "repack or rehash". GalacticHunter.com Has A First Look At The New Force Unleashed Set!

Posted by Paul | August 04, 2011 at 02:45 PM ET |

Our friends at GalacticHunter.com have a first look at the new Toys R Us exclusive The Force Unleashed multipack! Click through to check it out!

After careful research, we wanted to point out a small clarification in our Research Droids Reviews on the 2011 SDCC Revenge Of The Jedi Death Star 14-figure set. The Han Solo (In Trench Coat) figure has more differences than we first realized. His trench coat is essentially all-new. It's cut from a different fabric, has a different outer texture, the lapels have a different shape and lay differently and the camouflage pattern is completely different. Also, the base figure which is from the Shield Generator Assault Battle Packs set has been slightly repainted for this release and most noticeable are the diminished (we should really say "lack of") streaks in his hair. We have updated our RDR with these notes and just wanted to pass along the information via front page news so you're aware. You may also be interested to know that Hasbro decided to use this exact iteration of Han Solo (In Trench Coat) for the Episode VI Commemorative Blu-ray multipack.
