@SWTVC March Madness Begins!

It’s that time again folks! I enjoy participating in @SWTVC’s March Madness bracket each year. You helped make these brackets by making top 25 lists of figures you wanted to see in TVC. Between Facebook, Instagram, and several other sites, almost 1000 lists were compiled, the figures ranked, and the bracket seeded. It’s time to see if you can predict how this season of voting will go (or just pick your own winner)! Click here to download the 2023 March Madness bracket. Fill it out and post it in the comments of this article. Most importantly, be sure to follow @SWTVC or join the Star Wars The Vintage Collection group on Facebook as the actual voting will take place in polls there.

Click here for the rules and to leave a comment with your top 25 new TVC figures.

This week’s “Bring Home The Galaxy” reveals include a (re)release of a Vintage Collection AT-ST with Chewbacca figure! And as usual other merchandise such as yet another Seagate hard drive, a messenger bag or a Darth Vader blanket are also new products you can purchase. Are you excited for The Vintage Collection AT-ST? Or does the one (or two, or three) you already have still suffice?

Can Hasbro Compete in the Big Leagues?

Since the late 70’s, the Star Wars toys Kenner, and then Hasbro, made were for kids. The current line-up of Hasbro toys, however, are adult collectibles. Perhaps no recent figure makes that more apparent than the Deluxe Boba Fett (Tatooine) release. At $28, it is unlikely that the average parent would make that purchase for a child or even teenage collector. Expensive action figures are not unprecedented, nor are adult collectible 1/18 scale lines. How does Hasbro measure up? Can they compete in this market, and how does this gateway figure compare to other similarly expensive lines? More…

Watch A 30 Minute Unboxing Video Of The Razor Crest

The Tested Youtube channel by Adam Savage (ex-Mythbuster) got its hands on a Razor Crest and a 30 minute video was posted earlier today in which the Razor Crest gets unboxed and put together by co-host Norm. The Tested guys are huge Star Wars fans, Adam Savage, as you may know, worked for ILM and also on the prequel movies back in the day and he has several videos on his channel about Star Wars, either making impressive prop replicas from scratch or reviewing (high end) collectibles like a $1000 Rancor or a Lego Millennium Falcon. So if you want to know what to expect from your own Razor Crest in all detail or if you want to feel wistful about not buying one from HasLab: click through to watch the full video!

The Return of Battle Packs: Wishlists

We were floored by the announcement of the Stormtrooper build-up pack yesterday. Hasbro let us know that they plan to continue with releases in that format, which begs the obvious question… What battle packs do you want to see next? The stormtrooper set is a great place to start, but this new option provides so many opportunities that we’d be remiss if we didn’t talk about some of those possibilities.

There’s been quite a bit of squawking about placing Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars figures on classic Kenner-inspired packaging. Our friends at Blue Milk put together a concept that borrows elements from Kenner’s classic Droids and Ewoks lines. Ultimately, it appears to make more sense for an animated series to get packaging that mimics past animated toy lines. What do you think? Would the packaging represented below gone over better for those who criticized the standard The Vintage Collection packaging?

I need your honest opinion and input about something. I had a heated back and forth with a good friend of mine on the color of The Vintage Collection’s Kithaba (Skiff Guard)’s original headband. If you recall, Hasbro changed it to red to be screen-accurate. But what color was the first version? Click through for more….

Hasbro, Let's Play A Fun Game For One Whole Product Year

OK Hasbro, let’s play a game. And it’s probably going to come across as “let’s make a deal.” There is a lot of conspiracy theory, inconsistency, and no follow-through when it comes to The Vintage Collection versus The Black Series line. But one thing is certain. Collectors of super-articulated 3.75″ action figures are growing increasingly frustrated, to the point of weariness. You’ve admitted that the interest in The Vintage Collection and the excitement expressed by collectors has overwhelmed you. You, in so many words, said that you were impressed by the community’s passion in the line and that you’d be doing more for us as time moved forward. That hasn’t come to pass, unfortunately. So, here is what we’re proposing. How about, for one whole product year, you produce whatever you do for The Black Series [Phase IV] 6-inch line for The Vintage Collection 3.75-inch line? (more…)

The Razor Crest is only a very short time away from reaching 13,000 backers, which unlocks the carbonite blocks. And now Hasbro added another two additional unlocks. What could they be? Lights? Another figure, maybe Kuiil? What do you think the two additional unlocks will be? Leave your guess in the comments!

UPDATE: The Razor Crest now has 13,000 backers and the third tier is unlocked. Unlock #4 will probably be revealed later tonight.

Unlock #4 and #5 have been added. What will they be?

Galaxy's Edge Millennium Falcon Arriving In Europe

JTA regular Darth Rizzen found the Target exclusive Galaxy’s Edge Millennium Falcon in the new toy catalogue of French toy store PicWic toys. No other TVC products are in the catalogue, but the Millennium Falcon can be yours in France if you are willing to part with 450 euros, which is about $530 at current exchange rates.
Here in Germany you can find the vehicle at the usual etailers. One etailer here wants “only” 440 euros ($517) but pre-orders are already all sold out, another one wants a whopping 500 euros ($588). Is the Millennium Falcon available in your country too? And how much would you be willing to pay for it?

Pardon my French

Entertainment Earth is starting some trouble on Instagram. They’re asking for Star Wars fans to vote on their favorite Star Wars line: The Black Series 6″ line, or The Vintage Collection. As of this post, The Vintage Collection is forging ahead of the 6″ line. What will the end result be? Most people who collect TVC aren’t even on Instagram (unempirical data assessment). It will be interesting to see how all this pans out!
