Hasbro's Idea Of Good Value For Your Money Looks Like This...

Hasbro’s Black Series HasLab livestream just ended. The team showed off the painted Rancor prototype and revealed tiers 3 and 4 for the figure, available at 16k and 19k backers. So what are those tiers? Malakili? Giran? Oola? Try again. Tier 3 is a slightly retooled repack and Tier 4 is technically speaking an all new figure, but really just a repack too. What is Hasbro thinking? Click through for more!

Tier 3…..

First, here is the painted Rancor prototype. It’s…. brown.

Find all 900+ paint apps!

And then Hasbro revealed tiers 3 and 4 and in my opinion these stretch goals are bad jokes at best, insults at worst. What are they thinking?

Tier 3 is a figure that really has no connection to the Rancor. It’s Salacious B. Crumb, a slightly retoooled figure, he has new legs and knees, it’s the same sculpt you get in the new Disney Parks exclusive set. And the same figure, more or less, you got in the SDCC exclusive Jabba set many years ago.

And then there’s tier 4, not technically speaking a repack, but really, it’s just yet another repack when you think about it. An all new tooled “definitive” Luke Skywalker figure

19k backers are needed for this

Luke comes on a POTF card with coin:

And that’s it!

For $350 you get the Rancor, some cardboard diorama piece and then a few bones plus three repacked figures/characters. Yes, Salacious B. Crumb is rare, Luke is a new sculpt, but still, in my opinion these are the most underwhelming stretch goals imaginable. Almost anyone will have a Luke, many, many people will have the Gamorrean guard, what people don’t have are the Rancor Keeper, his assistant and poor unfortunate Rancor snack Oola.

Now the question is… will 19k suckers pay for the most underwhelming Star Wars HasLab ever and unlock all the stretch goals?

Will you back the Rancor? Are you happy with what is being offered here?

Addendum: the Rancor HasLab is probably the first HasLab ever to lose backers after revealing new tiers. It’s down to 5102 backers now, it was 5137 just half an hour ago. Maybe even the ebay scalpers realize this is just terrible.
