25 Better Choices For The Vintage Collection's Fan Channel Repack Case Assortments As Voted By JTA Readers

Thank you to everyone who voted in our The Vintage Collection Fan Channel Repack Poll. We received an amazing amount of response and feedback, and we now have the results compiled. Hasbro should take these results, and compile six new case assortments based on these results. But we don’t live in a utopia. Click through for more!

The Top 25 candidates for the inclusion of The Vintage Collection Fan Channel Repack Case Assortments, as voted by JTA readers, are listed below. But before we get to them, let’s check out some interesting trends.

Our readers chose 92 characters from the entire The Vintage Collection’s run. While the frequently-requested Imperial Assault Tank Driver, Imperial Assault Tank Commander, Death Star Gunner, and Luke Skywalker (Crait) action figures made the final list, they didn’t come close to reaching the Top 25 ranking.

In fact, only ONE figure from The Vintage Collection 2.0 run made it to the Top 25, and to no one’s surprise, it’s a major army-builder.

Regardless, the entire Star Wars saga was well-represented in the voting.

  • Two (2) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the first wave of The Vintage Collection based on The Empire Strikes Back characters, released in August 2010.
  • Four (4) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the second wave of The Vintage Collection, released in September 2010.
  • Two (2) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the third wave of The Vintage Collection based on Return Of The Jedi characters, released in November 2010.
  • Two (2) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the fourth wave of The Vintage Collection based on Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith characters, released in January 2011.
  • Two (2) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the sixth wave of The Vintage Collection based on a mix of Star Wars sources, released in March 2011.
  • Two (2) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the seventh wave of The Vintage Collection based on a mix of Star Wars sources, released in June 2011.
  • Two (2) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the ninth wave of The Vintage Collection based on a mix of Star Wars sources, released in October 2011.
  • One (1) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters is from the twelfth wave of The Vintage Collection based on a mix of Star Wars sources, released in April 2012.
  • Three (3) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the fourteenth wave of The Vintage Collection based on a mix of Star Wars sources, released in June 2012.
  • Four (4) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters are from the sixteenth (and final) wave of The Vintage Collection’s original run based on a mix of Star Wars sources, released in October 2012.
  • Only one (1) out of the 25 highest-ranked characters is from The Return Of The Vintage Collection era.

Mace Windu (VC35), Aayla Secura (VC58), and Emperor’s Royal Guard (VC105) all tied for 26th place, and all missed the Top 25 ranking by one vote each.

11/25 of the highest-ranked candidates are from the Original Trilogy, 7/25 of the highest-ranked characters are from the Prequel Trilogy, 5/25 of the highest-ranked characters are from the old Expanded Universe, and 1/25 of the highest-ranked candidates are each from The Clone Wars and Rogue One.

It’s likely that we will never see half of these characters rereleased in The Vintage Collection because the molds are either lost or destroyed. But Hasbro will likely never publicly admit this. Due to these characters’ popularity, Hasbro should find a way to get them back into the market, even if that means new tooling is required.

Be sure to read some additional notes after the ranking. The ranking, in descending order is as follows:

NOTES:

Many readers didn’t follow directions (and that’s alright). But I had to alter the way I counted some responses. Ultimately, some candidates were excluded from the tally, because I couldn’t get them to fit anywhere.

Some chose official candidates from The Vintage Collection but requested a tweak or change here or there. I made the executive decision to accept the votes but applied them to the original and unchanged version of the action figure. For example, multiple people chose Anakin Skywalker (VC13), but with a new head sculpt and no Sith eyes. I counted the vote for the original Darth Vader [Anakin Skywalker] (VC13) figure.

MANY people chose the Rebel Commando. Some chose the white guy and most chose the black guy. I counted all of them as the same. Hopefully, Hasbro can re-release both ethnicities at some point in the line.

The Rebel Soldier (Echo Base Battle Gear) (VC68) was chosen nearly 2 to 1 over the next highest-ranking candidate, Shae Vizla (Old Republic Bounty Hunter) (VC101), which was neck-to-neck with the third highest-ranking candidate, Grand Moff Tarkin (VC98). Very little disparity exists between the rest of the remaining highest-ranking action figures.
