Michelle Rejwan Is The New Live Action SVP For Lucasfilm

Now before you say “who” and “what?!?”… Michelle Rejwan (age 37) has been with Bad Robot and JJ Abrams for a long time, she worked as an executive / co-producer on such JJ movies like Super 8, Star Trek Into Darkness and The Force Awakens, with The Rise of Skywalker being her latest project, this time as a producer. The SVP is the “Senior Vice President”, and Michelle will be the SVP for Live Action Development & Production. So, in short, she’s basically Kathleen Kennedy’s new Number 2. Click through for a few more details!

It seems with Bad Robot going to WarnerMedia some people jump ship and seek other opportunities, and it appears Kathleen Kennedy wanted Michelle as her second in command and hired her for Lucasfilm.
Michelle has a degree in literature and writing and started small, she was a casting assistent first, then became an assistant on “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, after finishing her degree she applied for a job at Bad Robot, where she first became JJ Abrams’ assistant, until she gradually took on more and more duties that led her to being a executive and then co-producer. The Rise of Skywalker is her first movie as a producer, and now she’s made another huge step in her career by becoming SVP for Lucasfilm.
You can also think of Michelle Rejwan as Kiri Hart’s replacement, who left Lucasfilm last year under somewhat mysterious circumstances. As SVP Michelle Rejwan will, among other things, provide creative feedback to the filming crew, she’ll also decide if a project idea is worth passing on to Kathleen Kennedy, so her job is somewhat more hands on than Kathleen Kennedy’s.
Good luck to Michelle then! It may well be that Kathleen Kennedy wants to build her up as her eventual replacement. Let’s hope Michelle Rejwan will give us new interesting shows and movies that are liked by all!

You can read a 2015 interview about how she came to be a movie producer on the Marie Claire website.
