Imperial Death Trooper (25) - Hasbro - The Black Series [Phase III] (2016)

What Do You Want For Force Friday And Beyond?

We’re in somewhat of a lull at the moment. Most figures Hasbro has already finished are still under a Disney embargo and nothing official is known. We do know that on Triple Force Friday we will definitely get figures for The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, and the Fallen Order video game. So let’s talk about what you expect, what you hope for, and what you want! Both for TVC and TBS! And let’s speculate also if there will be any (Force Link) 3.75 in 5 POA figures at all because so far there are exactly zero rumors about the latter. So click through for a discussion!

Even if she had only 10 seconds of screentime, I want that figure for TBS! (click for much larger version)

Between several leaks, official promo videos and articles we do have a pretty good idea how most of the characters in The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian and the Fallen Order game will look like!

From what we know, we can say that The Black Series will get most of the all new figures come October and beyond, while The Vintage Collection will get about 4 or 5 all new figures.

So what would you like to see?

TBS will most certainly get Rey and Kylo, little doubt about it, and most certainly Poe as well. But what about Finn? Do you think his TROS outfit is different enough that Hasbro may attempt to sell a figure of him again? We never got Finn’s The Last Jedi variant for very good reasons, it was simply too similar to what we had before. Is his TROS outfit different enough? It once more seems to be a variant of the Han Solo outfit, with striped trousers and all. And what about Jannah? She looks more interesting with bow and cape.

I think the Knights of Ren should absolutely get the same treatment at least as the Praetorians, i.e. each of them should get made. As things are it is much more likely TBS will get Knights of Ren than TVC, but TVC collectors certainly can dream, so would TVC collectors even be interested in Knights of Ren?

And… would you be interested at all in old man Lando? Even though he looks almost exactly like his version from the Solo movie?

On the First Order side of things, apart from the usual new trooper variants, I would also think that Richard E Grant’s character may deserve a figure:

Hux and Allegiant General Pryde, The Rise of Skywalker

Pryde’s uniform variant looks new and interesting enough. I don’t think we need photoreal Hux, he still looks more or less the same as in The Force Awakens and I don’t think a photoreal update would convince enough people to buy a figure that basically looks the same as the one they bought 2015.

In my opinion The Rise of Skywalker should give us figures of

  • Rey
  • Kylo
  • Luke
  • Leia (if they added a new outfit in post)
  • Poe
  • Lando
  • All Knights of Ren (some of them maybe ending up as exclusives)
  • Zorri Bliss (certainly the visually most interesting character)
  • Jannah (maybe 2 pack with Finn, I don’t think a single Finn release would be a good idea here)
  • The Red/Crimson Trooper
  • The Rocket Trooper (briefly glimpsed in the trailer)
  • Kaydel Co Konnix (she would be featured in all three movies and certainly deserves a figure after all this time)
  • Allegiant General Pryde
  • D-O as an accessory, but probably no BB-8, the TFA version is good enough
  • and maybe, just maybe force ghosts versions of whoever else is appearing in the movie

Now, with things as they are, TBS is likely to get many of the figures listed and maybe a few surprises on top of that, characters we haven’t seen yet, there is still Emperor Palpatine, in what capacity will he be in the movie? What would TVC fans love to see if you had to pick maybe 4 or 5 TROS figures?

That brings us to The Mandalorian.

It’s a no brainer that we’ll get the title character, no doubt about it. What else would you like though? The Incinerator Trooper? Kara Dune as the female lead is certainly also a must have character, what about Grief, played by Carl Weathers?

The Mandalorian Cast

Kara, The Mandalorian and Grief

Grief does wear a disturbingly brown/beige outfit and while these are, sadly, par for the course for Star Wars, I fear Grief may be a massive pegwarmer should he get made, because his outfit lacks any real visual appeal, despite the cape. So maybe it would be better to make Werner Herzog’s character? Who wouldn’t want a Werner Herzog action figure, right? Also, the co-pilot of the Mandalorian looked pretty interesting, he was some kind of droid. And let’s not forget the female Twi’Lek briefly glimpsed in the trailer.

Once more, TBS can expect 4 or 5 characters from the Mandalorian, so TBS collectors can speculate away to their heart’s content, TVC will probably get 1 or 2 figures (most likely the title character!).

And finally, Fallen Order will only be something for TBS collectors, all the previous exclusives based on computer games in recent years saw TBS only releases as well, so nothing new here. We can certainly expect to get the title character. What about the Second Sister/Inquisitor and one of the new Purge Troopers on top of that?

What else… so far there have been zero rumblings about 3.75 in 5 POA figures. Instead there’s still the rumored all new 5 inch line under the Galaxy of Adventures banner. What are your feelings about that?

Anyway, despite the current lull and lack of actual reveals, a lot (if you are a TBS collector) and at least some (if you are a TVC collector) new things are headed our way come October. What are you looking forward to? Leave your wishlists, general thoughts and remarks in the comments!
