You can confirm this yourself by checking out the SOLD LISTINGS in the advanced search function. It’s hard to believe that this beautiful 3.75″ super-articulated figure is going for more than The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ version! The figure was available in over a dozen case assortments throughout The Vintage Collection’s original run. The TVC Gamorrean Guard (VC21) figure has been a source of frustration for TVC collectors for years, and it appears the frustration is only going to get worse. No other figure from this line is as desired as this one is. It makes people green with envy, especially when they see collectors with more than one of them!

If you have zero patience like the average, normal Star Wars collector, foreign sellers have both The Black Series [Phase III] Gamorrean Guard and Clone Commander Wolffe in-hand as well.

JTA reader and friend Russ T. has found the TARGET exclusive Chewbacca figure at his local TARGET in NJ. He also asked about the new 4-LOM figure. This was his experience with that: “My local Target had 6 of the new Solo Chewie figure, but no 4-Lom. When I asked the worker to look up the figure after I gave her the DCPI she said it comes up on clearance for $12.99 and they won’t be getting anymore. WHAAAAAT??? They never even had it yet”

It’s remarkable how everyone who backed Jabba’s Sail Barge is preparing for its release next February by clearing out eBay. JTA reader Mike R. brought to our attention two figures in particular that have us in awe. 2004’s Star Wars “Saga” [Phase III] J’Quille and Tanus Spijek have been selling like mad on eBay recently. AT any given time you could about two dozen of them for less than $10-$15 each, maybe less. However, they’ve recently sold so strongly that it’s nearly impossible to find any active auctions for them on eBay. If you can locate them, they’re going for a pretty penny. If you recall, we created an itemized list of ROTJ characters while suggesting which one were Sail Barge-worthy, much like how Elaine determines which of her men are sponge-worthy. Well, some readers have taken notice. (You should check out those links again. The increase in prices is astounding.) Don’t wait too long to grab the figures you need to populate this first HasLab offering!

While the Force Link 2.0 updates are working for some, I have to be honest and say for me it has been a nightmare from hell. This is how far I got after I installed the update. Out of three devices I used, not one of them can find the Force Link 2.0 device and pair it. Click HERE to see the madness.

UPDATE #1: (9 AM to 12:45 PM) The only way I could get any of my devices to see the Force Link 2.0 was to remove the batteries and replace them (to reboot the Force Link 2.0). Thanks, Chris!

UPDATE #2: (12:45 PM to 2:30 PM) Now I am trying to get the update going by tapping twice. It’s not working.

UPDATE #3: (2:30 PM to 3:45) The update is actually happening. The device is timing out, so you have to go through the tapping to get it going again. Madness! Also, this process uses so much power that I had to replace the batteries in the Force Link 2.0.

UPDATE #4: (3:45) After having to reboot both my devices and my Force Link 2.0 MULTIPLE times, I finally got the last update downloaded. I am going to bed now. What a complete waste of a Saturday!

Our friends at Bantha Skull have just reported that the Force Link 2.0 app is functioning. They also managed to figure out how to update Force Link 2.0. Whether it was an accident for them to update the device or this is what it is, if these are the steps required to update the device, it’s one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen done by Hasbro. Click through for more, but be warned that you’re probably not going to believe what you’re reading. I am still unable to figure out mine. How are children supposed to do this? There’s got to be a better way!

It’s always good to be proactive, isn’t it? Is there ever a time when planning for things ever turned out negatively in the end? Well, maybe, but stick with me that’s its a good thing for this post. JTA is getting inundated with store reports that show evidence that The Vintage Collection is on clearance at so many stores (both Walmart AND TARGET). Some of the prices are as low as $5 each. We even have a report from barely-alive Kmart that they have them on sale (clearance) too. I had an epiphany that retail is dead when it comes to Star Wars. I am completely serious about this. It’s not about what stores get and don’t get any more. It’s about the changing times. Because of these clearance trends, I have a suggestion. (more….)

We have a sneak peek of the Entertainment Earth exclusive Finn (First Order Disguise)/Captain Phasma Two-Packs set from the Star Wars [The Last Jedi] line. As you may or may not know, this set was temporarily canceled until Entertainment Earth salvaged it and took it on as their exclusive. The set is more excellent than expected. The Finn (First Order Disguise) turned out nicely. He still comes with inadequate articulation of which is required to battle Captain Phasma. Captain Phasma is all-new as well but has been significantly retooled. And most importantly, she comes with the spear she used to attempt to defeat Finn. The figure uses Force Link technology. Interestingly, you can use the Force Link 2.0 wristband to make the figures talk. Between Captain Phasma’s rich English accent and Finn’s fast-talking, it’s challenging to make out their five phrases each. Anyway, check out our full gallery ion this set. Have others noticed the standard The Last Jedi poster now prominently features Rey at the top instead of a Sith-ified Luke Skywalker? (Perhaps this was intentional to make the audience think something more ominous about Luke before the film’s release.) This change is now included on the poster that comes packaged with some Blu-ray releases. Special thanks to volkerc for the alert. This completely blew by us. We wonder if the same is true for you. The revised poster is not featured in the StarWars.com gallery either.

Website Retail Dive reports that the auction for the Canadian branch of Toys R Us was canceled on Monday, since there were no other qualified bids for the Canadian Toys R Us stores other than the $235 million “stalking horse” offer by Fairfax Financial. Once the deal is approved Fairfax Financial will own the 83 Canadian TRU stores.

It is for a promotion in Japan that features the Mimban Stormtrooper. Apprarently per Google Translate the promo is about a prize draw for people who send in barcodes of various Star Wars toys. Irish Toy Retailer Smyths will acquire the Toys R Us Stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This deal includes 93 TRU stores and 4 online shops. There are also some new developments for TRU in the USA, Canada, Asia and Australia! Click through for more details!

Even though Solo: A Star Wars Story is on the horizon and The Last Jedi a hazy memory of the past already, there’s still some promo work for the latest trilogy movie. For the European disc release of The Last Jedi Mark Hamill did some promotion work in Ireland and gave interviews. French magazine Le Point published their interview with Mark Hamill yesterday. JTA reader Matthew C. sends us an image (from a Pixel Dan YouTube video) of what “photorealistic” technology might look like on a The Vintage Collection figure. Now, keep in mind that this is a Mattel figure, so Hasbro’s might look very different than this. And they’d have to improve the technology before making it final. Website That Hashtag Show reports that the casting process for Episode IX is underway. And apparently, JJ Abrams and casting director Nina Gold are looking for the following:

a female lead, 40-50 years old, to play the role of “MARA.”

It has to be said that it’s common practice to use code names instead of the real character names in casting, so it doesn’t necessarily mean that Mara Jade will be in Episode IX. Episode IX is still scheduled to begin filming in July, so we should know more very soon. Who could this 40-50 year old woman be? Someone who takes over from Leia? Rey’s mother? Holdo’s sister? Or Mara Jade after all? Speculate away!

eBay seller tunghori still have quite a few The Vintage Collection (or TVC-quality) figures IN STOCK. Don’t forget to pick up Vizam for your new Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna). Remember, Hasbro is retooling the railings on the Barge so that his AWESOME gun can be attached. There are other figures as well including the rare red-bandana Kithaba figure and Princess Leia (Slave Outfit). These are reasonably priced and as the aftermarket values for skiff guards and related figures skyrockets, get a few while you can for acceptable prices!

All of these store reports we’re receiving are disconcerting. JTA reader cress has purchased all of the latest The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ figures he wanted for $5.00 each. We also have seen reports of $7 and $9 figures too. After the buyers realize that they made NO MONEY on these figures, Walmart will be the next retailer not to want to take a chance on the Hasbro Star Wars brand. IT IS TRUE! ALL OF IT! Here is ANOTHER unbelievable find (that I am UNABLE to confirm)! In all my life collecting, I have NEVER seen action figures on clearance go this low. I have seen $.100, but never $.03. Commenters are claiming that Brickseek has older The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ figures listed for this price, but I am unable to confirm anything similar myself. There are also comments that it affects the new Death Star Commander too. Special thanks to friend Derek T. for alerting me to this image from The Black Series 6″ Collectors Facebook page!

Unbelievable! Reports are pouring in from toy runners that the BB-8 Mega Playset has been marked down as low as $30 at some Walmart stores. We are getting plenty of reports that it is also found for $45. Special thansk to JTA readers Allen P. and vikingrobot and others for the reports and images. This item is still over $100 on Walmart.com. What ashame. This is a fantastic playset. It should have performed better. Perhaps get rid of the droid-shaped gimmick next time.

OK, well, it doesn’t seem as if the #Hasbroblackseriesunboxingcontest is getting the reception and participation it should. As someone who doesn’t even know what an Instagram is, the best I can do is click the videos that get posted there. We thought it would be more fun to speculate about the “Top Secret” item in that black box instead. Could it be the long-awaited 6″ General Grievous finally? What about an Episode I themed set? Could it be the next beast in the line? Or is it a vehicle? What about a whole new format altogether? Let us know what you think Hasbro will soon reveal underneath that “Top Secret” box, and if you can participate in the contest, be sure to add your entry! Oh, and Hasbro, be sure to do something like this for TVC collectors next. Don’t forget our need for constant stimulation. 🙂

Holy! We are getting a ton of emails from readers notifying us that the charges are going through for Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna). So much for April 25th!

We have a sneak peek look for you tonight of the R2-F1P/R5-232/R2-S8/R5-PHT Solo: A Star Wars Story Droid Factory four-pack. It appears that we might see new Droid Factory droid parts in the future as evidenced by the new parts included here, namely the restraining bolts. R2-S8 is the standout astromech droid of the set (who looks a lot like R2-MK by the way) and has some of the best paint operations we have seen in this line to date. Still, all droids are still missing foot wires which is an ongoing setback. Check out this great set early in our RDRs by clicking the image below.

In what seems to be an effort to directly compete with Amazon, TARGET has announced that it will offer same day shipping to customers in five major cities. This news is the equivalent of day-old bread now. But in case you missed the story, the CEO of MGA Entertainment in Van Nuys, CA (make of Bratz dolls), put in a nearly $900 million bid on Toys R Us Friday in hopes of revitalizing the chains in the USA and Canada. What’s sadder than sad? I am glad you asked because I have an answer. Sadder than sad is finding more Solo: A Star Wars Story stuff at my closing Toys R Us store (on clearance) than any other TARGET or Walmart in my area. That’s what’s sadder than sad. I hope all of the new product hits all at once so everyone can get the stuff they want. Maybe everyone else will catch up on April 20th. By the way, the article title is really sarcastic. I don’t know if anyone will find new figures at Toys R Us or not. It would be pretty “funny” if Zuckuss ends up arriving there, but I highly doubt it.

Diskingdom confirms the long-rumored Han Solo and Chewbacca Star Wars Toybox figures. Look for an official announcement from Disney soon.

Disney released a brand new TV trailer for the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story movie. It’s only 45 seconds long but includes a few new scenes and new dialogue. We get to see how Han learns about Chewie’s name! Also, Chewie is proving to be a scene stealer! But watch for yourself and tell us what you think!

Gamestop.com has the new Funko Pop! Fighting Droids 2-pack Exclusive in stock and ready to ship! They also have all the other Solo Pop! figures available as well as a pre-order for the Finn/Phasma Rematch on the Supremacy Movie Moments.

Today’s Visual Guide update features the Wampa/Luke Skywalker (Hoth) Deluxe set. Part of a transitional wave of figures for the deluxe line, this set comes in The Last Jedi packaging, but sports the Force Link 2.0 logo and comes with the Solo Wave 1 assortment. I am only of average intelligence, but the Force Link 2.0 is something I just cannot figure out to save my life. I have talked to other like-minded intelligent people, and other super-smart friends, and they cannot figure out the app update either. I think Hasbro dropped the ball on this Force Link 2.0 Starter Set. But I would like to be proven wrong. If this is a manufacturing error, then a statement should have been released. I find it sad that consumers are plopping down $30 for this set and so far it only works with the figure included and some older Star Wars [The Last Jedi] basic figures. Hasbro, please advise us on how to get this thing working. Thank you! (If any readers have figured this out, please give us directions!)

If you’ve been having trouble locating the newest Solo toys at your closest TARGET brick and mortar, you may not be surprised to learn that when given the DPCI a TARGET employee informed me that the Solo product launch was dated for a 4/15 reset, which is after the 4/13 street date. Patience is the way of the Jedi, friends, and we may have to wait a couple days yet…

SH Figuarts Jedi Luke was originally released in 2015. Anyone who began collecting SHF later had a hard time getting him or had to pay high aftermarket prices. Ordering the figure from ebay was risky, because Chinese knock-offs are quite common. But SH Figuarts is rereleasing the figure and pre-orders went live today. Click through for pre-order links!

Instead of Wookiee Weekend, it’s turning into Whoop-De-Do Weekend. (Actually, maybe something special will happen on the 20th for “Wookiee Weekend.” Who knows at this point?) Hopefully, things will change for the better by the end of the weekend for everyone. Anyway, post your success, hits, and misses in this thread. The official Cannes Festival website reveals the run time of Solo: A Star Wars Story: it’s 2h15min. Which is the same length as The Force Awakens and two minutes longer than Rogue One. It is pretty much on par for Star Wars movies. Plan your toilet breaks well in advance!
