2018 MSRP: "This Is The Hand We've Been Dealt!"

When the pre-order went live for the gorgeous The Vintage Collection Imperial Combat Assault Tank, the grumbling about its MSRP started immediately. We understand that it is a high price for this vehicle. But we’d like to remind you of a couple of things. (more….)

Does it kill me that I am going to drop over $300 for my four samples? Yes. Does it kill me that this is $20 more than The Black Series [Phase III] Luke’s X-34 Landpseeder and Rey’s Speeder (that most people waited on until it dropped to $20 or less at Walmart)? Yes. Does it kill me that this vehicle should be in the $49.99 or $59.99 range? Yes. But just like Rick Grimes told his Glenn in Season 3 on The Walking Dead, “This is the hand we’ve been dealt!”

Many factors have brought us to the place we’re at in this hobby. We need to relish in the fact that The Vintage Collection is back and bite the bullet when certain things don’t meet our expectations. The Imperial Combat Assault Tank is not some hollowed-out cheap kids’ toy. Haven’t you all seen the exploded version of it with its many, many parts when it was revealed at SDCC and HASCON? This is collector-focused and comes with an inordinate amount of detail. With tons of detail come high costs. This vehicle comes with SO MANY more parts than any The Black Series [Phase III] 6” vehicle to date. Plus, The Vintage Collection premium (“tax” as some have put it), for me mentally, is worth the extra price hike.

Hasbro pulled out all of the stops on this beast. And they’re giving it premium paint operations to bring it to life. They brought The Vintage Collection back based on our incessant pining for it. We cannot return the favor by waiting for clearance. Because of this attitude, it makes me wish that the entire The Vintage Collection would become a direct-to-market collection that can only be purchased at full price through HasLab or some other medium. I want The Vintage Collection to remain in effect. (Please! It’s the only goodness in the current Star Wars era in which we live. Do you want bad movies AND no TVC? – for those that think they’re bad movies; if you believe they are good movies, fantastic!) And the only way that’s happening is if we support it. If this vehicle is not for you, then more power to you. But if it is something you want, please do the “right” thing.
