Rolling Stone has posted a very interesting artcile about how The Last Jedi is an evolution of Star Wars and not a revolution of it.You’ll have to read the full article for complete understading of the point attempting to be made. Agree or disagree with the premise, it brings up interesting points on why many classic Star Wars fans aren’t biting when it comes to this new film.

It looks like we get to look forward to a bit more John Williams with the announcement that he will be writing the theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Variety has the exclusive.

The highly sought-after Scarif Stormtrooper (that isn’t even a carry-forward figure in The Vintage Collection yet) was supposedly in stock a couple of days ago. But now Walmart is sending out emails explaining that your order has been canceled because of no stock. What’s more, when The Black Series [Phase III] line goes mainstream (soon) the Scarif Trooper isn’t even one of the figures part of the assortment that online retailers can order. What gives? Hasbro: GET THIS FIGURE OUT AGAIN…. and in GREATER NUMBERS!

I still cannot believe all of the deals at Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store. One standout item, the Y-wing Scout Bomber is only $7 and change; an item that retailed for $24.99. There are many other fantastic deals as well. It’s worth checking out!

UPDATE: It looks to be “FAKE NEWS” now according to Bleeding Cool. But we have heard reports that Disney is asking sites to take down the artwork. So, it looks like no one knows for sure at this point.

With the relative success and accolades the BB-8 2-In-1 Mega Playset has attained, it would make sense if Hasbro continued a playset type of product with a pack-in figure, wouldn’t it? We hope to see them take advantage of the playset market more consistently and see them keep it in the $129.99 to $149.99 range. It goes without saying that a new Star Wars film is the best time to do that sort of thing.

Is 8 the new 12 when it comes to the return of The Vintage Collection? From what we’re hearing, this could be a strong possiblility.

If you’ve been waiting on purchasing The Black Series [Phase III] Tusken Raider figure, you may want to hop on that soon. Hasbro has discontinued production on this figure, and the solid case packs have been canceled! Readers of ours are also receiving cancellation notices on their pre-orders.

Forbes is claiming that ‘The Last Jedi’ grosses are collapsing with the worst daily holds of all nine Star Wars movies. In North America, daily holds for the Rian Johnson-directed flick have been significantly worse than those experienced by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Oh man. This is priceless folks. The man who played Luke Skywalker says exactly what I feel. He even refers to the Disney Star Wars version of Luke Skywalker as “Jake Skywalker.” Affirmation (from those who matter) is a beautiful thing.

Nonstop Star Wars is never a good thing. We have been saying this since 2015. It seems to have ramifications now. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a hit, but the Force may not be as strong for Disney when it comes to merchandise sales this year. Panjiva, a data company that tracks the giant shipping containers that arrive at U.S. ports, says 6,587 of them with Star Wars gear were shipped in the seven months leading up to The Last Jedi, but that’s down 47 percent from the seven months leading to Rogue One in 2016 and off 56 percent from the same time period ahead of The Force Awakens in 2015. This brisk pace could affect DIS, MAT, HAS, JAKK. Finally! Kimberly Chin from Business Insider has written an article on how the frequency of the Disney Star Wars films (in addition to other factors) may not be ideal for the licensees trying to make money from the merchandise of these blockbuster films. Business Insider has put together a great article which develops excellent points including (1) Disney’s stock was flat even after its latest “Star Wars” flick reported a great box office weekend. (2) Movie sales may not translate into consumer product sales, according to Jefferies Analyst Stephanie Wissink. (3) The frequency of “Star Wars” movie releases may challenge merchandise sales for each movie. This article is worth checking out. JTA Reader and Friend Charlie shared this image from his local Target of a Cassian figure stuffed in where the Praetorian Guard should be. This should’ve been an obvious move. There are 8 Praetorian Guards in the movie surrounding Snoke and we have yet to get all “versions” of the P-Guard. They should have definitely foreseen that this would be an army builder (or at least an army of 8) and a Praetorian single or two pack would’ve been a smart decision in my opinion. Would you buy a two pack of Praetorian Guards?

UPDATE: Another example, same set, different store (Walmart). Is this happening near you?

Here we go. Something that was created with the intention to entertain has become a real-world political issue as claims that the Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score is “FAKE NEWS.” MovieWeb.com has written an article which seemingly tries to disparage the raw score and implies that internet trolls are responsible for the film’s poor audience scoring. They develop this more in the article, however. Your thoughts in the comments, please! The politics need to stop on both sides. This is fantasy, folks. Maybe we should stop trying to force real-world issues into fantasy. That might be a start!

In an interesting turn of events, Rotten Tomatoes reveals their audience scoring of The Last Jedi. It paled in comparison to the “paid off” critics reviews. (I AM KIDDING ABOUT THE “PAID OFF” THING!). Check it out for yourself!

The Last Jedi officially opens on December 15th, but most hardcore fans around the world are seeing it on the many earlier screenings as we speak, and for the USA, tonight. So, the premiere of The Last Jedi happened. As you might expect, the praise for the film is off of the charts. Hopefully the same people who praised The Force Awakens are not also praising this film. EW.com has a nice wrap-up of what transpired, but head to that article at your own risk. In fact, from here on out, avoid any articles here or anywhere else about the film until it releases. Official reviews launch soon, so be prepared for more spoilers to leak out.

All of our individual retail store reports are anecdotal at best. From these experiences comes discussions so we can compare and contrast what others are seeing as well. But when it comes to the TARGET exclusive “Return Of The Jedi” three-pack, I have seen some interesting trends. In three of my local stores, this set has completely sold out. I haven’t witnessed an exclusive selling through this quickly since before The Force Awakens (and these are only 5POA figures). I can’t help but think that longtime collectors who grew up with the Original Trilogy are still a strong buying market when it comes to Hasbro toys. I constantly hear from those that think they know all about Hasbro’s stats that collectors are not a significant portion of the buying public for Star Wars toys, yet I am constantly reminded that the opposite of this is true with experiences like this. Again, in my local TARGET stores are seas of Rey (Jedi Training), Kylo Ren, Jyn Erso, Imperial AT-ACT Driver, Rogue One three-packs and a ton of Forces Of Destiny products. But the only Original Trilogy-focused set has sold through in three of my local stores. How can anything against this be argued? I think Hasbro needs to reevaluate their market. Hasbro, get more Original Trilogy stuff into stores and you’ll see sell through again like we did during the Golden Age of Collecting (2006-2012).
