Rian Johnson Will Be Attending D23

Director of The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, confirmed via Twitter that he will be attending D23 this week. It has been said that there will not be a new trailer shown at D23, but rumors suggest we will be getting a Behind The Scenes reel. We also don’t know in what capacity Rian Johnson will be participating, if at all, in TLJ panel. He could very well just be attending for the sake of attending, however, I think that is unlikely. Rian Johnson recently responded to a fan’s tweet asking him whether he would be attending the D23 Expo this year and Johnson happily answered, “Yessssssssss.” One thing I will say, Rian Johnson has been AMAZING at interacting with fans whether it be Twitter or face-to-face. I’m sure that if he is attending, he will be involved in the panel. Maybe he will give away some more posters or something else to the attendees.

Speaking of posters, it would be lovely if I could get my hands on a full size one without buying it as a blown up image! It will most likely be added to the Disney Movie Rewards shop soon enough especially since they have the poster showing in the shop itself next to the trailer. You can expect it to cost the same points as The Force Awakens and Rogue One posters, however, if you don’t have the points you can buy them on eBay. People sell them EXTREMELY cheap and I have done that in the past on the advice of fellow collectors. 

The panel for The Last Jedi will be streamed live and begins at 3 pm EST on Saturday, July 15th. It is likely that we will be seeing some BTS content if Disney and LucasFilm follow the same timeline as The Force Awakens and Rogue One (both of which showed BTS reels during July at similar events). I know I’ll be watching and we’ll be sure to share the link for the live-stream as soon as it is made available.

What are you thinking in regards to Rian Johnson attending D23? I doubt he would attend if he wasn’t going to participate, but what sort of content do you expect to see? I wouldn’t mind some BTS shots since TFA reel was pretty interesting to see at the time. Will you even be watching the live-stream or is it something you’re not that interested in?
