Welcome to another entry in our The Vintage Collection: The Ninety Six column. Hasbro recently committed to collectors that they will be “focusing” on characters in The Vintage Collection that fall under “The Ninety Six” banner. If you’re new to this, it means that there needs a modern counterpart for every classic Kenner figure. Between 2020 and 2021, Hasbro’s made an admirable effort by focusing on these characters. But there is more work to be done, and we’ll figure out where we are step by step. Today we assess Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard Disguise).

Why aren’t you purchasing The Vintage Collection Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) (VC144)? Not only was it the highlight of 2019, but Hasbro also took the time to correct the base figure’s (the “sandstorm” version) many issues, including its shortness, incorrect colors, and finally placed it on gorgeous Kenner-inspired packaging where it belongs. It’s perfection. I don’t want to hear that you passed on this figure because of the missing skiff guard blaster. It’s currently only $7.99 at Walmart.com. Don’t wait for this to sell out and then buy it on eBay for $40 or $50! After this, they’re gone forever!

Hot Toys may be producing the majority of Sixth Scale figures these days, but Sideshow still manages to slip one out from time to time. Just a heads-up, their Sixth Scale Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) figure is now shipping. Are you getting this one? Or, waiting for a Hot Toys version? Wow! I just noticed that The Vintage Collection Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) figure is out of stock. And it’s already going for a premium on eBay. Also, around me, the stores that received this figure are out of stock. Have you secured your copy of the figure yet? It will be interesting to see if Walmart orders more.

I suppose it’s possible these could be returns from online, but it’s aesthetically pleasing to see them hanging from the shelves to cover up so much junk behind it. Here we go! Our Research Droids Review on Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) (VC144) is completely finished and ready for you to check out. Despite the circus surrounding Walmart’s stock availability and alerts, shipping statuses, multiple authorizations, and changing arrival dates, I am so happy the figure is finally released for all of us to enjoy. One of my most favorite characters in the Original Trilogy, I am thrilled that Hasbro perfected this iteration of him for The Vintage Collection’s return. Aside from the missing skiff guard blaster, I am unable to find a single complaint with the figure itself. But the figure’s packaging is a whole other bowl of wax for criticism. This review’s official launch is tomorrow, but you can get an early look at right now! Don’t forget to leave your thoughts about this long-awaited updated figure in our comments! There are a ton of comparison shots with Jabba’s palace aliens, earlier versions of this character, and diorama scenes.

Well, Walmart.com has lost its mind. After canceling some people’s orders, and holding other’s orders in limbo, the exclusive TVC Lando Calrissian is now listed as back in-stock. You can go order it now, and hope you get one! Personally, my order is listed as ‘shipped’, but I will believe it when it arrives since it doesn’t actually have a tracking number. Thanks to JTA viewer Mark for the in-stock alert!

It was too good to be true we suppose. If you pre-ordered the Walmart exclusive TVC Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) figure, your credit card is probably going through quite a workout, probably while you’re reading this post. JTA reader and friend Josh M. alerts us to the horror that your orders from Walmart online are getting authorized every single day for the figures on your orders. I checked my credit card, and the same thing happened to me. Walmart customer service doesn’t understand what’s happening fully as my customer service experience was different and they actually tried to defend the multiple holds. When will this stop? When your card has no more credit for the authorizations?? Read Josh’s online chat below as he had better success than I did.

UPDATE: I got ahold of the Walmart Resolution Team (800-966-6546) and they were able to work with their Billing Department and get the extra authorizations removed from my credit card.
