Retailer Bargain Hunt is the latest discount chain to try and push the successful The Black Series [Phase III] First Order Special Forces Imperial TIE Fighter. How many of these things did Hasbro make? It’s like the 2012 TPM 3D debacle all wrapped up in one vehicle. It doesn’t go away. Bargain Hunt will be disappointed that they won’t be able to get $60 for this thing and will likely lose its shirt too on it. This report comes from member Brandon M. from The Black Series 6″ Action Figures Facebook Group.
Wow! ROSS discount chain stores are finally blowing out their current Star Wars stock! We have received multiple reports on these markdowns. The AT-ACT is $29.99. The Walmart AT-ST is $21.99. And the super successful TBS6 [P3] FO Special Forces TIE Fighter is $24.99. Get there before they’re gone! Special thanks to friends Josh and Frank for the images and alerts!

The Toy Run Podcast Facebook page has started a pretty interesting discussion about how collectors view LEGO versus Hasbro. The discussion is so good that I think it warrants bringing this out of social media and to the Star Wars fan site community where it belongs. Here are the thoughts and questions paraphrased:
LEGO collectors went crazy for the UCS Millennium Falcon. It sold out within a day or two and no one balked at the price. Likewise, there aren’t too many complaints about its size or the space it takes up. The only complaints seem to be that it’s sold out and there are still people who want to purchase it.
Then you take the Hasbro Star Wars action figure crowd of collectors. Hasbro finally gives us a HUGE FO Special Forces TIE Fighter for $169 in The Black Series 6″ line and it pretty much bombs at retail. It didn’t even sell out 2 years later (!) at $50 online this past Black Friday.
Why is a Lego collector willing to pay $800+ (and is happy about it) while a Hasbro Star Wars action figure collector doesn’t want to spend $170 for a big vehicle? It’s perplexing.
In our comments, please leave your own thoughts about this.
Despite showing up at TARGET for $49.99. Despite showing up at multiple discount outlets for pennies on the dollar. Despite showing up on Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store. Despite multiple Amazon deal of the days for this item. Despite Walmart’s and Toys R Us’ online stores dumping it for a fraction of its original MSRP. Despite ALL OF THIS, there is STILL stock of the successful The Black Series [Phase III] First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter. Now ROSS is receiving them (along with a ton other The Force Awakens and Rogue One merchandise) for $69.99. I don’t think there is anywhere else this vehicle can go. Bring back super-articulation in a hardcore fashion, and see this overstock become a fraction of what it currently is.
After yesterday I needed a small “pick-me-up” to distract me and make me laugh. JTA reader and friend Steve U. sent me the perfect thing to cheer me up. In my entire time collecting the modern Hasbro line, I have NEVER once seen a Star Wars toy get marked almost 99% off. On a lighter note, at least it was successful for Hasbro. I can’t wait for the next one! Seriously, you have to wonder if this thing was Better off Dead. While Kmart doesn’t have any in stock, you have to wonder if this is some sort of political statement from them. 🙂
The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter in on sale for only £59.99 at ToysRUs.co.uk for our friends in Europe. Special thanks to rebelsfangirl for the alert!
If you still need to pick up a Luke, Leia, or Obi-Wan, Kmart has them for $16.99. If you haven’t already, you can sign up for Kmarts shoppers points and typically get $10 off of your order right away. That could be some good savings on those figures or the First Order 6″ TIE Fighter which is listed at $64.40. They have R2-D2 listed as in stock and you can add it to your cart, but it’s a cruel joke. It doesn’t let you check out. Don’t forget, free shipping on orders over $49
UPDATE: Figures are actually out of stock. As soon as you go to your cart there is an error message. Sorry for the false alarm, we’re just trying to help everyone out!
Kmart has upped the ante by beating out Walmart’s price by a whole dollar! Kmart has the TBS6 First Order TIE for $64. This is like a game of limbo with this thing… How lowwww can you go? Bonus, if you sign up for Kmart’s “Shop Your Way” program, you’ll get $10 off of this!
Walmart.com has lowered the price of the ever-popular The Black Series 6″ First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter to $65, down from the $74 they dropped it to less than two weeks ago. If you still need this, now might be a great time to grab it. If I had more room, I might actually grab a couple more of these. You also get free shipping or free in-store pickup. Special thanks to JTA reader Craig for the alert!
