August 14, 2010 – Last Tour to Endor (Hollywood Studios)
Celebration V attendees had the chance to attend a very special event at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Saturday evening. And, what an event it was! The park was kept open exclusively for ticket holders of the event from 8PM to 1AM. While the rides at Disney are always fun, the special treat was some of the Star Wars themed events going on during those hours.
The stage under the hat was transformed into a Star Wars themed stage, complete with a Rebel Pilot DJ! Kicking back to the spirit of the 80's we were treated to plenty of music from the Empire era, complete with some dancing stars such as Boba Fett and Chewbacca (who knew Boba Fett could break it down break-dance style?). Fett even moon-walked off the stage to some Michael Jackson's Billy Jean!
The star event of the night had to be the special 'remastered' Indy Stunt Show. If you have ever seen this show then you know it is a pretty awesome show. But, you have not seen anything quite like what they did this time! Renamed Raiders of the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom: A Fan Film of Epic Proportions, this time the whole show was intertwined with icons and themes from our beloved Star Wars universe! And, if you were lucky enough to attend the 2nd showing (we happily were) then you got to view it with George Lucas! He came out and sat about 7 rows in front of us! So, we got to watch Star Wars and Indy with the maker himself. Not a bad night! Also guest appearing in the show as 'extras' were Seth Green, Anthony Daniels and Jaime King (voice of Aurra Sing). What a fantasic show that was!
Just when we thought we saw it all, after the show we were treated to a fantastic fireworks show, with a montage of music and dialog from all six films. It was truely incredible!
To close out the show at 1AM they had the official 'Star Tours Shutdown' ceremony, where Boba Fett took out a thermal detinator, tossed it down the hall of the Endor Bunker. If you didn't know any better you would have thought that the ensuing explosion truely destroyed our Beloved Star Tours ride! The explosion was so bright, loud, and big that the mushroom cloud hung in the night air long after we started walking away! Want to see all of this for yourself? Just click here for a search on YouTube and you will see plenty of video from the big event! To get it going right we've embedded a nice overview video of the whole event, along with a small gallery.
