TSC – Wave 2 – Battle of Hoth
#008 Major Bren Derlin:

Finally the Hoth Rebel Commander gets a proper name. When I first heard of this figure I was actually pretty happy about it. It could mean the prospects of John Ratzenberger showing up at a convention to sign autographs. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that’s cool either :P . A welcome addition to the collection, read on for further details.

Here are my subjective and objective reviews for the figure:

Head Sculpt:
I think Hasbro did a great job with the head sculpt here. Certainly looks enough like him to warrant a good review. Kudos Hasbro a a great head sculpt!
Rating 5 out of 5 Holocrons

Articulation:
Decent enough articulation for what we saw the character do onscreen. With swivel articulation for the following: Shoulders, elbows, waist, hips, and legs. He also sports the newer ball joint head articulation. While I would have liked knee joints of some type, preferably ball joint, this character doesn't really need them. He doesn't do enough onscreen and certainly no note worthy action shots to deem having articulated knees, so I'm happy enough with what the articulation is that we get with this figure.
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons

Paint Application:
Well painted, this figure looks very near to his onscreen personality. Another fine job by Hasbro.
Rating 3.0 out of 5 Holocrons

Overall sculpt:
What can I say, I think this is one of the better sculpted figures to come out of late. not much more could be done to improve this sculpt
Rating 4.5 out of 5 Holocrons

Accessories:
No much here. A blaster and a figure stand. Meh, what else could they have included?
Rating 2 out of 5 Holocrons

Customization possibilities:
There’s actually some potential here and I'm sure I'm not the first to notice it. It’s a basic head swap and you've got a brand new officer. Sand down the rank badge and you've got a soldier. Cut away the face from the hat and replace with a new face and again a new officer. Granted that means you're only left with Hoth officers and soldiers, but isn't that what you want anyway??
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons

Playability:
This figure has some decent playability here. Enough articulation to pose him nicely, he can be used to command your rebels against the onslaught of Snowtroopers. Or simply to command the doors to be closed.
Rating 3 out of 5 Holocrons

Overall Score:
I think this is a really good figure. Articulation could have been a little better, but he’s a great filler for diorama builders and has enough potential for customization to please customizers. The fact that we finally have him when we've been asking for him for so long is quite refreshing. It just bothers me that he’s peg warming a bit in some areas. Come on folks you wanted him, now buy him up! If you don't already have this figure, GET HIM!
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons
