TSC – Wave 2 – Battle of Hoth
#007 General Veers:

A most welcome update, the last time we saw an incarnation of this figure Veers wasn't even credited. Instead he was the generic "AT-AT commander." With the clip on Armor and helmet, you've got that, plus a figure specific to Veers himself.

Here are my subjective and objective reviews for the figure:

Head Sculpt:
This head sculpt does leave a little to be desired. The likeness is not so much of the actor who played Veers, but more so of cult film director Quentin Tarantino. Still we know who this is supposed to represent and the likeness while not great is marginally passable. A removable cap would have helped this figure.
Rating 2 out of 5 Holocrons

Articulation:
Better than the 1990’s figures, this figure does come up a bit short in this area. Here is the list of articulation:

  • Ball joint head
  • Swivel shoulders
  • Swivel elbows
  • Swivel wrists
  • Swivel hips
  • Swivel calves
I am somewhat disappointed by all of the swivel joints and the lack of ball joints. The arms starting from the shoulder are at a 30 degree angle. This makes a straight armed pose impossible. Knee and ankle ball joints not withstanding, at least the shoulders and elbows should have been ball joints. Overall the articulation is not bad, but it’s not great either.
Rating 2.5 out of 5 Holocrons

    Paint Application:
Not much in the way of paint here. He’s mostly grey and black. The face looks rather clean. (And it should)
Rating 3.0 out of 5 Holocrons

    Overall sculpt:
Since I'm not convinced with the head sculpt and the way the shoulder joints were sculpted so as to not have a straight to the side pose, I have no choice but to downgrade the mark in the area.
Rating 2.5 out of 5 Holocrons

    Accessories:
This is the area in which the figure exceeds! The blaster fits into the belt and the chest armor is clip on, while also having a helmet to outfit the figure with. Thus transforming him from a possible desk officer to a formidable field commander.
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons

    Customization possibilities:
Here we have a mixed bag.. For the most part it’s a great figure to custom. It’s just those darned 30 degree angled arms! Other than that, you've got a great Imperial Officer to custom. Since he’s a General, a careful sanding off of ranks and you could have a Commander (3 pips) or Lieutenant (2 pips) or Ensign (1pip). Head swap and cut the hat off and there you go.
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons

    Playability:
For the most part this figure has a bit of play value. Some poses can be attained with him and with the removable armor, he can be placed into several scenes.
Rating 3 out of 5 Holocrons

    Overall Score:
A most welcome upgrade for this character. It does have it’s weak points in articulation, but overall it’s a worthy purchase. With the possibility of customizing, if you're into that, he becomes a MUST HAVE figure. Removable armor really makes this figure as well. All in all this should receive high marks. fix the arms so they can be posed straight and maybe give us knee articulation and he'd be a perfect 5 on my scale of 1-5.
Rating 3 out of 5 Holocrons
