TSC – Wave 1 – Battle of Carkoon
#005 Chewbacca:

While this figure is almost an exact reissue, it’s a decent representation of a Chewbacca prisoner figure. It lacks in some areas, but holds up enough on it’s own.

Here are my subjective and objective reviews for the figure:

Head Sculpt:
This is a good head sculpt though the neck hair does not allow for the head to turn too much. The added paint adds a little more depth to the figure.
Rating 3.5 out of 5 Holocrons

Articulation:
Sub-par for this figure. However, Chewie or for that matter any other Wookiee figures seem to lack in the articulation area when compared to other figures in general. This particular version of Chewie is only sightly better than his 1990s cousins. In defense of this though, considering the scene in which it’s depicted, there’s not much need for added articulation.
Rating 2 out of 5 Holocrons

Paint Application:
A little improvement over previous versions. Nice mottling of browns for a more realistic look to Chewie’s fur. His face is a big improvement.
Rating 3 out of 5 Holocrons

Overall sculpt:
While better than the earlier versions it’s still reminiscent of reissues.
Rating 2.5 out of 5 Holocrons

Accessories:
A chain and a figure stand. VARIATION ALERT. This figure came with either a "small" or "large" chain link as the first link from Chewie’s shoulder. Also the metal appears to be different with the small chain variant being dirtier and the large chain being brighter.
Rating 2 out of 5 Holocrons

Customization possibilities:
Really not much to go on here. It’s very scene specific. Repaint the fur and maybe you have a different Wook, but it looks so much like Chewbacca that even a blond version is going to look like Chewie, rather than a different Wookiee.
Rating 1 out of 5 Holocrons

Playability:
Due to the lack of articulation there’s really not much here for play. It’s a great diorama figure though.
Rating 2 out of 5 Holocrons

Overall Score:
If you never got this Chewbacca version before, then this is a nice addition to your collection. While the articulation leaves something to be desired it fills the spot nicely. The head sculpt is the shining point of this figure. The revised paint application on the head make this appear to be the best version of Chewie’s OT head to date.
Rating 2 out of 5 Holocrons

Respectfully submitted
-Sal
