Clone Attack on Coruscant Battle Pack:

I lucked out and was able to get one of the Clone Attack on Coruscant Battle Packs last night. I opened the set up and here's my "Quick Shot" review: JUNK! Okay, so I'll say a little more than that....

It's a great looking set boxed, but the grey clones are the same mold as the jet pack deluxe clones!!! These clones have only a standard shoulder joint (not ball joint), swivel elbow joints (again not ball joints), and the upper leg by the hip looks awkward...they look to be too far away from the body. Don't get me wrong, the sculpt is much better than say 10 years ago, but that's just it, 10 years ago. It doesn't match up to today's standards. I realize the manufacturer is trying to get the most out of the mold, but sheesh, it feels like they cheap out on this one. These should have been either #6 or #41 clones (sans antennae). This all being said, I do very much like the paint job, and it gives me the basis for making a lot of grey clone customs.

Dang this disappoints me as I wanted to get more than a couple sets of these.

The Bacara repaint is good. Not great but good. For those of you wondering what to do with him, might I make 2 suggestions:
  • Call him Commander Appo...the commander in charge of the Spec Ops (Blue) Jedi Temple Assault Clones - OR -
  • Call him and upgraded ARC trooper and this is the new armor style for them. IIRC, Bacara was one of the first Commanders to be trained by "Alpha" so it's not a far leap to make this believable. For reference see the Commander Bacara Databank entry.

Okay so not a quick shot review, but some healthy info there. Carded collectors will love it, openers will be divided on it. Good news is it only costs $19.99. That's for 5 clones, so no matter how you slice it, that's a GREAT deal.

    Overall Score:
Rating 3.0 out of 5 Holocrons

    Respectfully submitted
