JTA wishes all of our readers and colleagues a Happy Thanksgiving. We are so thankful that we have so much in life that we actually have time to complain about and praise Hasbro's action figures. Show thankfulness for something important today. God bless everyone. And always know how thankful we are to you who make up the best part of our site.

Well, here's a little fun (and awesomeness) to help eat away the day while you wait for the Holiday weekend to begin... Google is celebrating The Force Awakens with an amazing Easter Egg in their search engine. Simply drop by Google and search (exactly as follows, and without the period): A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Enjoy!
Update: This does not work in all browsers. Google Chrome is your best bet!

There is a local discount chain in my area called Forman Mills. Those who live near and around me know how annoying their commercials on television can be. As I was catching up on some behind the scenes stuff at JTA, I glanced up while the commercial was running because I heard "Star Wars" and thought I saw a TVC-styled card back of Kylo Ren. I said "nah, no way." As the commercial went off (and as I thought I was experiencing a mirage), I knew from experience that these commercials come on multiple times within minutes of each other. As expected, the commercial came on again but this time I was ready with my cell phone camera. I was right. Would you believe that Forman Mills used a custom TVC-styled Kylo Ren figure in their commercial? It is from Pinterest and can be seen RIGHT HERE. From Pinterest to a TV commercial. It's pretty funny that a TVC-styled card back is what grabbed Forman Mills first to promote Star Wars, huh? Actually it's not too surprising at all. It seems that Hasbro is the only company that chooses to not believe in the power of vintage-styled packaging. Could you imagine if the line came this way instead? Talk about FALSE ADVERTISING! (Or maybe it's just that Hasbro doesn't tell them anything either about The Force Awakens line and they have to rely on Google for their images too!)

The Wall Street Journal has posted a great article running down what has transpired and predicts what will come with the merchandising related to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They even jibe collectors in their tag line that our focus is debating points of articulation. It's a worthy read. Special thanks to JTA reader and good friend Ayem for directing our attention to this article! Also, look for a brief interview with our friend Corey from the Wolfpack Podcast!
Walmart has reached out to us to share a new and exciting event coming this weekend. Walmart is starting the Star Wars celebration a little early by hosting ‘Epic Weekend’ events on Nov. 13-15 at more than 3000 stores across the country. Click through for more.

Daniel Fleetwood, a 32 year old terminally ill Star Wars fans has been granted an early viewing of Episode VII. Entertainment Weekly has the touching story!
Thank God in heaven I grew up in the 80s where special interest, political correctness and hypersensitivity didn't rule the world. And with all of the hypocrisy by current female role models/stars, it only puts salt in the wound. Women today dress a whole lot worse in music videos and on the beach than how a toned Carried Fisher looked in Return Of The Jedi who was being subjugated by a gangster who paid the ultimately price for his wrongdoings. Maybe the focus should be placed there first. You'd think positive physical fitness would be a tremendous role model for young girls. Sorry for the opinions, but MakingStarWars.net has pretty compelling dialogue from Star Wars artist J. Scott Campbell suggesting that licensing for all "Slave Leia" merchandise will eventually cease. It has our blood boiling a bit. I suppose that she will be digitally edited out or covered up in future versions of the film too. Hey, let's just pretend she didn't exist. That would solve all the issues! Anyway, click through and be sure to leave your opinion on our comments. Warning: comments will be heavily moderated. This is a hot topic. Present your point and don't attack others.
With special thanks to JTA friend and reader Steve U. for the alert, we now know that Walgreens has announced a deal to buy Rite Aid stores. This perhaps means wider spread distribution of Star Wars figures and their corresponding exclusives. CNBC.com has the full story.

Thank you for helping us reach a landmark goal today! We have reached an amazing 10K real Facebook likes today! While JTA honestly doesn't put much clout in social media (sometimes to our own detriment) because of all the ways you can cheat making oneself look bigger than you are in this day and age, we're still honored that 10,000 real Star Wars collectors and readers of our site have decided to publicly "thumbs up" us on Facebook. We could pay for likes and promotion to get 10 times the number we have now, but what's the point when Granny from South FL is one of the resulting accounts you get from paying for them? We find it's better to put all of that time and energy into the original content you see here on our site and at our friends' sites. Oh, and we will ALWAYS remain committed to making our front page priority number one. Once again, thank you! We honestly like you just as much as you like us.... and even more. We guess we need to get up to speed with Twitter next, huh?

I had a pretty amazing conversation with a fellow collector in NY prior to the Hasbro 'Twas The Night Before Preview Party. But what made this talk particularly special was because this person lives across the globe and we speak different primary languages. Yet we were at the same place at the same time and shared similar frustrations, joys and general Star Wars themed "things". Besides, he possessed the same passion for collecting as me, especially when it comes to wanting to find Star Wars toys at the retail level. You just never know who you'll meet or what sort of impact you will have on his/her general Star Wars collecting needs. (more....)

Mark graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Industrial Design. In 1977, as a co-op, he started working at Kenner Toys and has developed Star Wars product at Hasbro for 38 years. Mark is a Senior Principal Product Designer in Boy’s Toys, and has worked on the six original Star Wars films, EPVII and The Clone Wars and Rebels animated TV series. Mark has designed all five of the 3-3/4” Millennium Falcons, including the new The Force Awakens ‘Battle Action” version, and has action figures produced of his likeness. In February of 2015, Mark was inducted into the Toy Collector’s Hall of Fame. Please vote for him as Toy Designer of the Year at Toy & Game Inventor Awards! JTA reader Patrice P. sends us a store report that the Jakks Pacific Yoda has hit France. I believe there have been a few USA reports also. Admittedly, this figure reminds me a lot of the 1980/1981 Yoda puppet from the Kenner line.

While photographing images for The Black Series [P3] Constable Zuvio figure, I couldn't help but notice what I would consider a relatively strong resemblance to Boba Fett, but in an unconventional way. Clearly Zuvio's face is nothing like Fett's supposedly looks like, but check out the costume a little more carefully. It looks like a deconstructed version of Boba Fett's up to an including the shoulder armor and the gauntlets. Heck, even the skirt looks like the hem has been ripped out of Fett's jumpsuit. Same color and everything. I honestly can't take credit for this connection.... after discussing these points with a friend I had learned that discussions similar to this have already occurred. But between the red, green, yellow and gray costume, the shape of the armor as well as the designs of color on them, could it be possible that there is indeed some connection between Constable Zuvio and our most favorite bounty hunter of all, Boba Fett?

We shared this Walmart commercial on our Facebook page and it went over so incredibly well that we thought it warranted a front page share. You probably have seen it on TV by now, but check out this beautiful "legacy" Star Wars commercial, and yes, that's a 1983 vintage Kenner Return Of The Jedi Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight Outfit) figure being pulled out of the brown bag!

This event is the worldwide launch of new Star Wars toys and collectibles for the upcoming film: Star Wars : The Force Awakens. New products from Hasbro, LEGO, Mattel, Funko, and others will be officially for sale in midnight store openings across the globe.
While Lucasfilm has been heavily promoting this event with YouTube tie-ins and events at Toys R Us in Times Square, they are less forthcoming with what new toys will be available. Only three days away from the massive shopping event most collectors only know what to expect on shelves through various leaks online.
JTA reader Paul H. (not me) found and was able to purchase Star Wars: Aftermath at Walmart. Check out his report by clicking through.
